Portions are great. Flavor is yumm-o but my jerk chicken was undercooked probably because of the rush.

Even though I had already had a round of savory dishes and a dessert at the September Food Truck Friday(FTF) event at Tower Grove Park, I decided to go for another round of food! Between my husband and I, we had two items from this truck. Shrimp lollipop When I read that on the menu, I was perplexed and curious at the same time! I decided to get it and I liked it! It’s made up of chopped shrimp that are smoked and grilled on a sugar cane skewer and served on top of a bed of some kind of slaw and a yummy sauce(mango?). Duck confit tacos This involved smoked confit duck topped with again some kind of slaw and their house-made chipotle plum jam. These were sort of underwhelming and not as good as I expected. The duck was a little on the dry side and could have been cooked to retain more of the flavor. However, the jam was delicious and you could tell they made it. The food here was okay for the price. I wouldn’t be opposed to try them again, but I don’t think I would especially crave having their food, either. It’s worth a try, though! You might like it!

I could hardly believe my luck: a BBQ food truck that actually has a non-meat entrée. «Pulled Mushroom BBQ Sandwich» — it was so wonderful that it did not need any of the chipotle sauce they provide on the side. I will be keeping my eyes open for this truck in the future.

Really, really enjoyed this food truck. The pulled pork sandwich was fantastic, one of the best I’ve ever had. The rice and peas went well with it. Check this truck out, they know their BBQ!

What made me order here was the awesome grill off the back of their truck. Awesome. Had the pork belly which was great and tasty. Only thing i found was there was oil dripping out of this thing like no tomorrow. Mind you if you want all this grease, great! But make sure to take extra napkins. The sandwich though was beautifully crafted with so much goodness inside. I’m sure their other stuff is just as good. Aside from that, great service and quick too. Can’t wait to try more next time.

The Smokin Monkey brought their food truck by work today. I had never eaten there before and ordered the pulled pork sandwich… It was fantastic! I loved the sauce and it was cooked just right. I will definitely pay them another visit the next time they stop by the office.

The Smokin’ Monkey is hands-down my favorite food truck in St. Louis, and there is one big reason: the pork belly, lettuce, and tomato sandwich. To call the PBLT perfection on a bun still isn’t doing it justice. I am a sucker for pork belly. If it’s on your menu, I am ordering it. If you’re talking about Smokin’ Monkey, I’m ordering at least two. The pork belly is ridiculously tender and perfectly fatty, packed with an amazing flavor that contrasts perfectly with the cold tomato and the sweet and spicy mayo. Get a side of plantains or the beans and rice. Both are good. Neither will detract from the splendor of the main event. I’ve had the duck confit tacos, and they are also superb. Duck is hard to do, probably even moreso when you’ve got to make it travel, but somehow, they pull it off. Again, the meat is very tender, and with just the right amount of fat to impart a really great flavor. I’ve also had the shrimp lollipops. They’re not quite what you’d expect. It’s unmistakable shrimp flavor with a completely unexpected texture, and the sugar cane sticks are a nice touch. Have I had the vegetarian option? No. My friend tells me the mushroom sandwich is really good, but I’ll probably never try it. Unless they’re out of pork belly.

Different than every other BBQ place. Has a cool little island twist. We tried the duck tacos and they were great and we had the pulled pork on flatbread. Wow the pork has amazing flavor! Would recommend to anyone!

I love this food truck! My favorite is the pulled mushroom sandwich. It is vegan like me and served with beans and rice– also vegan. The owners are awesome and always friendly. My non veg friends enjoy the jerk chicken sandwich and the duck confit tacos. Everything is smoked to perfection. Check Facebook for their location daily. Yum!
