Excellent service, great food and tons of vodkas to choose from. Me and my bestie have claimed this restaurant as our special spot!

It’s Ok… The service could be better(not having to wait 15 minutes after being seated to place an order) and its a bit tight-spaced, which leads to being crowded and super loud… but the drinks are good. Been there twice, similar experience, not sure if I will go back.

Lots of interesting menu items certainly. But the uniqueness does not translate to actual worthwhile cuisine. Also, beware the menu descriptions are not necessarily what will end up on your plate. There was almost no one there and yet the service was still very slow. This is definitely not a place to go for lunch if you don’t have a couple hours to spend on your lunch break.

Sub Zero is great fusion food. I may be alone on this one, but I prefer Sub Zero’s sushi over its competitor Drunken Fish across the street. It’s always consistent and with so many varieties who can complaint(I will, briefly: I wish there were more classic styles. Oh well.) I’ve gone to SZ for dates and for late night, um, sloppy visits. Regardless of reason the food has always been on point, both burgers and sushi. The ice bar is fun, though a little unnecessary. You gotta have your catch though. At the bar they have plenty of drink varieties though it’s clearly catering towards to party crowds or casual drinkers. Fishbowls and other«fun» drinks over savory stuff. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, and none are bad. Just good to know what to expect.

I’ve been to Sub Zero a few times but oddly enough, it’s usually for lunch. Sub Zero is typically a late-night hot spot so when I stop in there’s rarely more than a few other people around. I work out of a co-working space just around the corner and stop by in the afternoon. The menu primarily consists of Burgers and Sushi. This is seriously a dream come true. You never have to choose between the two again! The trick is to go with a friend and split sushi and a burger… taste the best of both worlds. They do a damn good job at preparing both of these food groups. Most recently, I went with the Jalapeño Popper Burger. It comes with beef stuffed with jalapeño cream cheese, tempura crunch, honey Sriracha glaze, jalapeño cheese sauce, bibb lettuce, on a pretzel bun. Did you read all that? ON A FREAKINGPRETZELBUN. THEYPUTTHECHEESEINTHEBURGERANDADDTEMPURA. It seriously doesn’t get better than this. Creative and delicious.

First, I am a regular customer at subzero. It is very convenient for those who live in the CWE. Positives: the drinks are great, with a huge selection on their cocktail menu and I think they are worth the price. The food menu is good offering a bunch of burgers and sushi. The servers and bartenders are great, especially Bobby so sit at his bar if u can. They are always taking care of the customers and making sure they are happy. Negatives: I’m not a fan of them not having a juke box for slower days to allow the regular customers choose the music they would like to hear. I understand not having it for Friday’s and Saturday but Monday-Thursday shouldn’t be a issue. The food is pretty good and there are a couple of things on both sides of the menu I really like, however, the crab in the sushi sometimes isn’t cleaned the greatest which makes it rather crunchy when u eat it. Other than that I have no issues with the food. Overall, Subzero is one of my favorite places to go to drink and eat, and if you are ever in the CWE, this place is a must!!!

Great place to grab a drink and an appetizer on a Saturday afternoon. This was my first visit and the staff was friendly and helpful. There are sooooooo many drinks to choose from. I went with the White Cosmo, which was citrusy and refreshing. I highly recommend the Derek sushi roll! I will definitely return for another.

The area itself is nicer than what you’ll experience here. However, the vodka selection is vast. It ranges from of course high end to moderate. If you enjoy vodka though, as I do, this is worth looking into. I’ve never had the food unfortunately. So, try at your own risk. Lol Last thing, I will warn that it can have a pretentious crowd, as you might expect from a vodka bar in this area. It’s okay though, just stop and think: my phone probably has more pictures with friends than portraits of myself. Then your vodka just tastes that much better ;)

Subzero was packed when I was there for the first time on a Saturday night in January. We only stayed about an hour. We had to sit at the bar, which is not my favorite. It was pretty loud, which is also not my favorite, but that’s not a complaint because bars are supposed to be loud. I tried a few people’s drinks but I don’t recall what I ordered myself. There is so much variety on their menu. Their cocktail selection is phenomenal, but they also have decent wine offerings. It wasn’t as pricey as I figured. My drink was $ 9, which is as much as a similar but not so good of a drink would cost many other places. The atmosphere and clientele was a bit too snooty-preppy for me to become a regular, but perhaps a weeknight would be better.

I went here for my 21st birthday to get my free fifth(note, it’s free if you spend at least $ 20 inside. You’re actually not allowed to consume it inside. Instead they give it to you when you leave.) I had a tiger blood drink which was good, and my girlfriend got a Sapporo beer. The place is a little pricey for its food menu.

Just OK! The options for food is sushi or a burger?!? It was the weirdest menu I have ever seen. The place is nice and trendy and the wait staff was really great. But overall it is a little on the pricey side and I’m not sure for what. They have a large drink menu but for some reason they were out of a bunch of the alcohol they served?!? I dunno just a weird place was something different we wanted to try. But that is all one and done for me.

If I do go back, I would go on weekday so it wasn’t so crowded. We went on a Saturday night. We stayed for one drink and then moved along. There were five of us and the only spot available was at the sushi bar. It was not the easiest for us all to socialize. We only had drinks. The drink menu is a bit overwhelming. I had the Pulp Fiction. It was very good. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their cocktails. One of us tried to order a Cabernet, but was brought a Chardonnay by mistake. A bit of a snooty vibe, not as laid back or as cheap as other bars in the CWE.

Had the veggie burger and sweet potato fries with a vodka, champagne, cranberry juice and blueberry cocktail. Boyfriend had the jalepeno popper burger with onion rings with a couple of the 31 degree Budweiser. I had a sip of the beer and it was super fresh. We enjoyed our food. Excited to come back for happy hour for drinks and appetizers and sushi(they have tons of burgers and American food as well as sushi, ramen, etc.). I am a vegan so I was really happy that there were several items on the menu for me to work with. It was crowded and the bartender was really fun. We just moved here from San Francisco and she told us about the area. Will be back for sure!

So, the 4 stars is strictly for the food and drink. Service was a little off this evening. My baked wedges came out long after I received my sandwich, but I was pleased that they didn’t charge me for them. For this eve, I went with a classic Vodka Gimlet w/Ketel One and it was perfectly balanced. Food choice, a build your own sandwich: Blackened Chicken breast, Boursin cheese, bacon on toasted sourdough. Now, I wasn’t prepared for them to charge me for the lettuce and tomato separately, otherwise I would have opted out of that as I didn’t need it. The Baked Wedges with side of Jalapeño Cheese sauce was awesome! Yes, get that cheese sauce!

We had a Friday night girls night at Sub Zero was our choice. We were greeted, seated and served well. All of our food and drinks were outstanding. I was on a antibiotic and the non alcoholic drinks were delicious. I built my burger and was told it came with a side. I double checked and our waitress assured me. Although our drinks, apps and food was spectacular our waitress was a little off along with my bill. I was charged for my side after specifically asking about it and that was very frustrating. Overall, it was a great night!

This place was great. We came in on a rainy day so the service was quick and our waitress was very helpful. There was a large selection of mixed drinks and they looked amazing. Their food went along great with the drinks too and the atmosphere was very chill. I would definitely come back.

In my opinion there, «Aint no party like a SubZ party» This is my favorite spot in the CWE to turn up! Talk about some top notch drinks. The antioxidant martini is to die for! Once I found out they had them in goblets it was difficult for me to not drink one to my self! Ok, maybe I did once. I love everything about this place. From the sushi Ninja Vu in the back to the top notch bar staff. SubZero does not disappoint! Also the staff is pretty easy on the eyes. ;)

For the price you pay and what you might expect for a high dollar place a little disappointed. Service needs improvement and more smiles are needed. A place that do not represent the quality hospitality of St. Louis

HUGE selection for Martini’s and cocktails! The bar is beautiful, and even has an ice bar top so that your drink will stay cold. Very cool concept! Bar is always packed with beautiful people. Great energy and the staff are very welcoming, and eager to make your drink. I haven’t eaten there yet, but I have been there twice within the past 2 weeks and I plan on going back again soon(even though it’s a 30 minute drive for me). It’s well worth the drive! HIGHLYRECOMMENDTHISBAR!

So of course Sub Zero can’t be equalled in Saint Louis when it comes to their vodka selection, but they have more than that going for them. Sushi, nachos and crab cakes; all tasty and all in the same place! That’s hard to beat! Now granted, while this wouldn’t be the place I’d recommend for the best sushi in the city or anything, the combination of the bar, the sushi, and the rest of the kitchen’s offerings are a combination that is very hard to beat. The service can be hit or miss, and some items could arguably be a little overpriced, but the location really can’t be overvalued. Sub Zero is right where you need it to be, and always convenient for a late-night stop due to their hours. The music and vibe here are always lively and chill. Various different DJs throughout the week, and a great crowd mostly any day of the week keep Sub Zero near the top of anyone’s list of the best places to go for a drink and a bite to eat during the week or weekend.

The girlfriend and I heard good things so we decided to try it out on a recent trip. It did pretty well in my book, especially since I’m not a huge vodka lover. For someone who is, this could be a really cool place. Huge selection of vodka with recommendations for people based on how experienced you are with the drinks. Also a huge selection of mixed drinks and martinis as well. The food was very good. I went with the bison burger, and she had the classic burger. Juicy and delicious. The only real downside is the price. For the two of us it was almost a hundred dollars. I get the premium drinks will have a premium tag, but I can get a good burger and a solid vodka drink for way cheaper elsewhere. Would go back for a special occasion, probably not otherwise.

Finally managed to make it in after living in the area for 5 months. I tried the Sub Zero Melt and it was pretty great! My only complaint is that it had too much cheese(but who ever says that!). The meat was seasoned well and everything had the right flavors. I’d like to make it back for happy hour or to try sushi next time. Plenty of great looking rolls. And the drinks are superb – we tried the chocolate covered banana martini and OMG it was fantastic! Definitely dessert in a glass! 4 stars because it’s a little pricey for a bar. Burgers are decently priced(and have a wide range) but the sushi seems a little high for the area. But then again I haven’t tried it yet(partly because it was a bit expensive!)

I can’t believe I didn’t review this a couple of weeks ago when we ate here. The Boo and I decided to do a mid-afternoon lunch of burgers, and SubZero had been on our list of «places to check out» for a while. We found some free parking a few blocks away in the residential area and had a pleasant walk over. Even though it was a beautiful day in the 70s outside, it was a little dark and chilly indoors. We opted to eat outside and they apologized for being slightly understaffed. We might have only noticed this on our own because we had multiple servers taking care of us – one girl got us water, another took our drink orders, another took our food orders, etc. They were all very nice so I have no complaints about being waited on by multiple people. We opted to have one of their giant mixed drinks designed to serve 3 – 4 people. I don’t recall what they labeled them but they were basically a delicious, classy fishbowl. We went with the«antioxidant» and it did NOT disappoint. A really refreshing drink perfect for the weather. Also, it came out smoking from dry ice they added to it. A very cool effect that also helped to keep the temperature regulated out in the sun! We ended up splitting an order of four SubZero Sliders with fries. Poor Boo was really into the Russian Pickles but I had to put my foot down to pickled vegetables that I wouldn’t have wanted to eat. Lucky for me he let me be boring and get the french fries, which were very good but were also just typical, high-quality restaurant fries. We ordered the turkey, grass-fed beef, lamb, and BBQ bison burgers for our sliders. The grass-fed beef was so juicy and delicious. We also really liked the turkey, with its cranberry/orange relish and sage. It was a really nice combination of flavors that I would definitely eat again. I’d never before had a bison or lamb burger, but both were very good here. If anything, the lamb burger tasted a little dry compared to the others. Maybe it was just because I was already in the mood for a turkey burger, but that’s the one I’d probably want to eat as a full-size burger. Here’s the deal: we spent a lot of money on this lunch. Even splitting a(giant) drink and a meal still put us at the $ 70 mark, but I don’t recall if that was before or after tip. I would definitely do it again. It took us a little longer than ideal to get our check when we were finished, but all of the servers were working hard to take care of their crowd. If you’re in the area and want a great vodka drink and a burger, this is the place to go.

Dinner last night at Sub Zero. A beautiful night to sit outside and enjoy the views. After ordering our drinks(a little about that later) we decided to share an appetizer. Looking at my previous Unilocal review, I stated that the Jalapeño Cheese Balls were very tasty. We decided to do those again and they did not disappoint. The chili sauce is wonderful with the cream cheese filled balls with just a hint of jalapeño. For dinner Mike got a lamb burger and I chose the classic burger. Our side was Zucchini fries. Our burgers were cooked exactly the way we ordered them. The zucchini fries were outstanding and served with a side of ranch dressing for dipping. I won’t post the picture of my half eaten hamburger but it was very good. Now for my drink. I know this is a vodka bar, but if you know me you know I love my margaritas. Jamisine(?) took our order. A margarita in a rocks glass with salt. My drink came out in a tall glass. I like a short glass so I can taste my tequila and you don’t get a lot of mix with it. I explained to her that I had wanted it made for a rocks glass. She didn’t know what that was. I said a short glass and she stated she could take it back and pour it into one. Never mind. My margarita rating is a C. The food is good, the outside seating is great and I will be coming back again and again.

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews! We had a great time! Note! If you go on your bday(you must supply picture id) you get a free bottle of vodka! We had two different rolls of sushi, unfortunately i cant remember which ones, but they were great! Our server was as attentive and helpful. Our drinks were great! Plan on spending some money, but it was a great bday dinner!

Although I remember thinking very highly of the burgers here, the sushi is laughably bad and the price leaves a sour taste in your mouth. The bf and I were desperate for sushi delivery, which arrived 25 minutes late despite a $ 10 tip ahead of time.(This is why you never pre-tip! Argh.) For $ 76 total on 5 rolls and 2 pieces of nigiri, the sushi could have tasted a lot better. The rice was really dry and not well seasoned. The sauces were stingy, and the spicy tuna had a weird smokey taste. It was all just very… sad. St. Louis sushi continues to disappoint. Have to dock a star from my previous review.

Awesome expansive list of drinks. Gets tough to pick one. I liked the zentini. Service was helpful is selecting drinks. We dined outside since it was a nice night out and it was too loud in the inside. Great place for drinks but not the best for food… Food wise, sushi rolls seemed out of place on a menu with burgers. We ordered 3 rolls which were below par(sub zero roll, crazy roll, and the baja rolls? it had jalapeño which is what we wanted). The fish didn’t seem the freshest and had a lot of rice.

Came here on a sat night and it was packed. Couldn’t get a seat in the dining room but sat at one of tables at the bar. The bar area and dining room area are split. The atmosphere at the bar is «cool» and had good music. We ordered sushi, a pretzel burger, potato wedges and drinks which were all decent, but nothing that blew my mind. Sushi quality was good and larger in size :) Drink menu is extensive obviously in vodka so if you love vodka, check this place out! Same company/owners of gamlin whiskey house.
