We started with fried pickles based on reviews. They were good, but nothing special compared to other fried pickles. Then had the steak sandwich and coney dog for dinner. Both were pretty good. Margarita was awful, Long Island iced tea was ok.

Stopped in again for the steak sandwich. It really is the best in St. Louis. We love this little neighborhood bar and restaurant. The food is amazing and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. It is clean, the service is fast, the cost is reasonable and did I mention that the steak sandwich is probably the best I have had outside of Philly. Do yourself a favor and try this place.

Two of us split the chicken wings, they were very good! Not much sauce on wings, so we ordered extra sauce. Waitress brought us a small container of sauce, no problem. I ordered the steak sandwich. The menu stated«BESTINTHECITY», 10 ounce strip. I also emphasized, «rare». What I received was well done, and looked like a thin cubed steak. Wasn’t very good, certainly NOT the best in the city! The bun was OK, and I’m glad I ordered the onions & mushrooms, even though they charge $.50 extra for each, they made the sandwich edible. Waitresses were nice and friendly, but stay away from«THEBESTINTHECITY» steak sandwich!!!

I have been here so many time and it’s always been amazing. Well last night Friday March 4th had to be my worst dinning out experience EVER. The waitress we had for got about us. We waited to order our food for 25 mins. While another waitress walked pasted us I would saying about 15 time. Saying she will be right with you! Never in my life have I walked out before and last night night was almost my first time. It put such a bad tasted in my mouth I won’t be back. Get it together!

Great little bar and grill. If you’re looking for a good local crowd, home cooked style meals and good times you should stop in ASAP. I life just down the street and stop here fairly often and I’ve never had a bad experience. With Shocktop on draft, I’m in heaven. Grab a couple close friends and make conversation here soon!

The other night I had a total craving for a salad and my partner, who didn’t, were thrilled to see all the positive« Unilocals» about the Haven for many reasons, and off we went. It’s exactly what I love, a friendly neighborhood place, with great food, service and prices! My partner ordered the ravioli as an appetizer for us-I recently moved here and didn’t know about the toasted ravioli test! She then said the true test would be the Patty Melt; if it was good we struck pay dirt. Not only did we strike pay dirt-but there was distinct joy that the Haven uses crinkle fries! My salad was just what I wanted and our waitress was top notch. The friendly and outgoing service sealed it for us. We will definitely be back!!! Thank you so much!

I think it’s a bit more than just«bar food», steaks cooked right(and under $ 16), ribs are to die for! Prices are really reasonable and the staff are amazingly nice. Daily specials(Thursday’s fried pork chops are my favorite)! Fast, friendly and most importantly, inexpensive!

Julie is the best bartender/server! We go about once a week and it’s always wonderful! It’s better during lunch than at night.

Went back on Saturday to reaffirm my love for their burgers. If possible, everything was better. Delicious Haven Burger with 3 cheeses and 2 nice strips of bacon was as juicy and full-flavored as ever. The bun was fresh, the fries were crisp and the pickle spear had a nice snap. All for under $ 10. Mama had the Patty Melt which had a generous amount of swirly rye bread. Her only complaint was that she had a lot of bread left over, but the doggy box solved that. We walked out the door with 2 meals and 2 drinks for under $ 25 before tax. Simply one of the cleanest, well-staffed and friendly neighborhood bars in south city. The delicious food just ups their game. Be back soon!

I keep trying to have a decent meal there but just can’t. It may be this time because I was alone. I got the feeling that they would be more attentive to a full table. The lady who sat me was very nice, but the one who took my order was not happy. I ordered the cod sandwich with(homemade?) chips. Not alot of chips and cold/oily. Not alot of cod much to my dismay. Everyone has told me about how big the cod sandwich was. I saw the sandwiches at a neighboring table and they where twice the size of mine. Instead of «The Haven«they may call this place the«Haves and Have Nots». The lady finally brought my check and stood waiting for payment and tip. She probably sensed that I was not in love with the place. I wouldn’t have stiffed her on the tip, but she didn’t deserve the 20% tip I gave her. The cod sandwich and chips with drink cost me $ 16. Not a great value. I will not be back.

Really yummy fried pickles! Definitely worth a special trip just for those. It can get sorta busy, but that’s a good thing, right? I’m looking forward to trying some other menu items, and will update again.

One of my favorite all time places to pick up carry out. I’ve only dined in a few times because I feel that the service is a bit slow, which is probably why the food is always hot and prepared very well. I just live in a fast paced world, so don’t let that deter you from going. Their fried pickles are super delicious, and I always get their buffalo chicken salad. It’s a very generous portion of chicken which has been perfectly moist every time. The consistency is 100%. I’ve tried their meatballs as well and they are also a nugget of meaty love. Highly recommend this place. It’s clean, the staff is friendly and good is GREAT! If you’re in a hurry, call it in and pick it up. Totally worth trying out.

I like The Haven. It isn’t 5-star food, but it’s good bar food, and their burgers are pretty darn good. Their fries aren’t bad, though I’ve learned to order them well done, as sometimes they can be a bit on the rawer side for my liking. The wings are good too. My boyfriend likes the BBQ, I like the hot. They’re crispy, either way, which is great, and the BBQ type are loaded with sauce. If you aren’t a super saucy fan, do like I do, and ask for it on the lighter side. Ranch dressing is good as well. Seems homemade, and isn’t super thick and filling like some I’ve had. It’s great on one of their salads, which I’ve had good experiences with. Onion petals are good, albeit filling and a bit greasy, although I think that’s the point of onion petals, is it not? Burgers are excellent, and huge, and taste homemade. I get mine with provel and bacon, and I’m in food heaven. The television situation there is always a bit of a challenge for me. I don’t care for football whatsoever(I’m a total baseball girl, who bleeds red), but football seems to be the sports programming of choice at The Haven. I don’t understand that, because it’s usually not Rams games, but teams of other states that they have on the televisions there, even when the Cardinals are playing a game that day, at the same time, but … whatever. To be fair, whenever I’ve asked the waitresses at The Haven to turn at least one television to the baseball game, the waitresses have done so without hesitation, so I can’t complain much, but it would be nice to have the Cards game on all of the time, whenever one is playing, without having to ask. The waitresses are all nice, and they get to know regulars like me pretty quickly(I live up the street, so I stop by quite often). Arrici(excuse my spelling if I am spelling it wrong) is my fav waitress at The Haven, and is always super helpful, and a real gem. The Haven is lucky to have her. She always takes good care of me whenever I visit. Drink prices are on the cheap side, which is nice, and they aren’t stingy with the amount they give in regard to food or liquor. I’d like to see more choices offered on draft, such as Bud Select instead of the darker Schlafly Ale they offer on tap, but maybe this will happen in time. Overall it’s a good place to go to get a bar type meal, a cold beer, and watch a sports game. No smoke, no fuss, just a good neighborhood feel.

Just a good ol’ neighborhood B&G — our go-to for a casual dinner, especially when the game is on. The burgers are nothing fancy, the fries are crinkle-cut most of the time(although ONCE they subbed fantastic seasoned fries — bring those back!), but it’s simple, reliably tasty food. All the servers and bartenders are SUPER nice, and we’ve had some good conversations with strangers at the bar. Just a nice little place that we’re really glad we found.

I walked in and seated myself at a high-top near the bar. Shortly a waitress came by and offered me a menu and a beer. I sipped my ice cold Shock Top while reading over the menu. I decided on a patty melt with fries and a small bowl of chili. The chili was good, if not quite hot enough for my taste, and topped with cheese and onions. The burger was huge! I barely made it through half of it. It was well seasoned, topped with grilled onions and nicely presented on rye bread. The atmosphere was relaxed, sports on TV’s everywhere. My beer was kept full and I was well paid attention to. Nice place, I shall return soon.
