Small, but adequate selection of books. The well-stocked and catalogued textbook section in the basement is usually the recommended place to find the textbook you need. It’s also a great place for a quiet hour on a warm summer, or cold winter afternoon. Spanning the first floor are a variety of books, clothing, gift items, glassware, stationery and writing instruments, dorm life accessories. The breadth of stock is good and the knowledge and helpfulness of staff amazing. Outside the bookstore there is a extended area for daily deals on reading books. The bookstore can be overcrowded and short staffed when semesters resume. Sometimes the atmosphere gets contaminated by food smells from the Subway(which is just 20 feet away).

It’s a typical campus store. You can get textbooks, printing paper, notebooks, reading books, and writing utensils. They also have a snack section with ice cream bars, and various types of candy. There is also a Washington University memorabilia area in which they have all types of clothing and even umbrellas, pens, pictures frames, and paperweights with WashU’s logo on them. They really are a one-stop shop. They also take the WashU Campus Card, making it even easier for students to spend mom and dad’s money. During my three years on campus, I’ve had a VERY rocky relationship with the campus store. They have a book buyback program which I often felt like I wasn’t getting the actual value for my books back. I discontinued buying textbooks from them(unless they are the only place with the book) because of the difference between sale price and buyback price. I’ve never had a problem with the help. They are always very helpful when I’m looking for something in the store and the cashiers are often friendly.
