This is a review for the Whittemore House as a wedding venue — although we have also dined there and like it much more the some of the other reviews. In fact, both as a venue and a place to eat we found the Whittemore House to be charming and classy at the same time. The wedding coordinators and staff could not have been better for our special day. Art was especially knowledgeable and understandably flexible for our wedding — which happened to coincide with the extremely busy graduation and commencement time for Wash U. It would be easy to look at the experience through rose-colored glasses as the bride and groom, but many of our wedding guests went out of their way to tell us just how good the food and service was. And for this, we are grateful. Our wedding was about 90 people in size. We easily could have accommodated 120 comfortably. They have our highest recommendation.

This is WU’s «Faculty Club», trying very had to be very Ivy clubby. The lunches are ok, especially if a Dean is paying the bill, but for dinner the food is not very inventive, or even tasty for that matter and generally a little pricy. The blue haired crowd is very much in charge here. Not a bad place for a small wedding but get your own catering!

The Whittemore House is the private club of the Washington University in St. Louis faculty. It’s a beautiful old house with lots of seating and a beautiful outdoor area. On Thursdays, they have a great lunch buffet along with traditional table service. This location is ideal for special events, etc. put on by Washington University faculty.
