Good food, we had breakfast before the wine festival. $ 9 for 6 half pieces of french toast and two eggs. Good deal, good food. Service could use a little more attention. Definitely a locals vibe here.

Must have the breakfast. Fresh OJ, bread and just good breakfast food. I had the crab omelette. It was delicious. Breakfast tacos were really good too. Small and quaint. Must stop here. They also have a bar that looked fun but it was too early for me to have a drink bi may stop back later to try their dinner and have a drink.

We walked in with little expectations, cold and very Hungary because there was no other place open and serving breakfast . Looking from outside it was hard to tell if there were two separate stores or only one, buildings are quite different looking . We walked in, received well by staff and seated . Staff were very polite and friendly. We had couple of typical tourist questions, our server answered to all . They gave us enough time to be seated and get comfortable. I had breakfast taco, sausage and black beans are the main ingredients. They serve two tacos per order .I think two not only is enough but also does not take up the entire space of the plate. My order was served very nicely and timely .it was delicious. They totally exceeded our expectations .i totally recommend this place.

Great food and ambiance. The breakfast is really good with an emphasis on the pancakes. The SOS is also very tasty. If you are in St. Michaels, make this your first stop in the morning.

Very slow service for an empty restaurant but it was all okay after the crab omelet. I would wait again for it.

A nice laid back dicey sort of bar with a live guitarist and strong drinks. The large friendly bartender dressed up like Carmen Miranda to play along with one musical number and was a total ham. What was just amazing was we ordered the crab cake dinner and at just $ 18 for two mostly lump crab cakes, this is reason enough to plan to come back. They were some of the best crab cakes I have ever had. What a find.

This is a bar with a restaurant and the young chef Will Ames is a wonder. The local seafood dishes and specials are just excellent. They do have perfectly fine burgers and bar food, but Mr. Ames also serves up some fine dining!

We decided to hit up this place after a few drinks at Gina’s. I came here to try out the only thing I really wanted to eat on the eastern shore, soft pretzel with crab dip. Two of my favorite things rolled into one delicious combo. This place somewhat satisfied the craving. The pretzel was a bit tough and too salty, and the crab dip was a bit too sour for my taste. My boyfriend got the half priced turkey burger with avocado. It was a standard burger, but we both enjoyed the old bay chips which we also dipped in the crab. I’m knocking a star off for unfriendly service, because we made eye contact with the server a number of times but was ignored time and time again. The food was standard pub fare, but the service put a damper on dinner. Overall, I’d say I give this place an «Ehh.»

This place is great. The bartender was riot, the food was great. The had local beers on tap. Some local guys came in and downed a tumbler of Tequila cashed out and left. Fun place for adult but definitely seemed kid friendly as well.

Valentine’s Day weekend was a very busy winter weekend in St. Michaels. Carpenter Saloon has low prices, fresh food, friendly and helpful staff. We loved their pancakes, they were very fluffy and fresh. :) There’s not many breakfast options in St. Michaels, but Carpenters is a great local restaurant to try.

Do you want tourists? High Prices? Tiny Portions? Don’t go here! Enjoy the Saloon where the locals all go. Can be a bit Salty at times, but in my opinion, that’s the charm of a Local Pub. Like«Monday Night MaryAnn’s(Barmaid) say’s «If you have Thin Skin, Don’t Come In!». But this place is an interesting mix of Local Baymen & BayWomen, Local Retirees, and this is the place where the people that serve you in those«Stuffy» Upscale restaurants, go to relax. Try one of their«Happy Hour» Specials Enjoy their«Saucy Crab Dip with Pretzell». People are VISTORFRIENDLY& Make you feel at home, provided you don’t display an attitude! My Place to enjoy an Ice Cold«Natty Bo». Local Beer«National Bohemian Beer» Native to Maryland. Will be back! Live Music on Certain Nights. Dress down, come in, and Have Fun! ENJOY! CHEFGARYCURRY

St. Michaels is the cutest little waterfront town. It’s like a tiny downtown Annapolis. It’s picturesque, with lots of adorable stores, galleries, and restaurants. Carpenter Street Saloon is an unassuming little place across from the local grocery store. My family decided to duck into here on a rainy Sunday, as we were in St. Michaels looking at a new boat and day tripping for my momma’s birthday. We were a little skeptical, since it was a little empty and old-looking, but the food here is classic and delicious. We had onion rings to start, and they were crispy and hot and served with a delicious sauce. I also got the pork rinds to start — I know it sounds gross, but they are AMAZING and crunchy and spicy and delicious. My boyfriend and I both got the same thing, the Chesapeake Club. Crispy fried rockfish filet, crab imperial, Swiss cheese, and a thick, toasty roll. We opted for sweet potato fries on the side. They were thick cut and well seasoned and crispy. Yum. My family got burgers, club sandwiches, and the rockfish and chips. Everyone enjoyed their food and it all looked equally delicious. Points off for being a Pepsi establishment(yuck) but those points were made up by our sweet and attentive servers, the short wait for food, the frosty beer mugs, and the low prices. Check this place out for a delicious local lunch on the Eastern Shore!

How I heard of this place: It was highly recommended by the St. Michaels local townspeople. Type of cuisine: What would you imagine a saloon or pub would serve up for breakfast? Eggs? French Toast? A plate-sized stack of hotcakes? C-Street has it all! And then some… Ambiance: «Carpenter Street Saloon is located in the heart of historic St. Michaels, Maryland. We are a gathering place for young and old and always the last call in town. Start your day with a hearty breakfast; come for lunch and choose from an array of local favorites, including Michener’s favorite Crab Vegetable Soup and the original Saloon Burger; or join us after 5 p.m. for a reasonably priced, traditional local dinner. From 10 a.m. daily the bar features your favorite spirits, big screen TV for sports, jukebox, fresh popcorn, live music and shuttle service on the weekend. C-Street is also host to many events through out the year. The famous C-St. Auction, St. Patrick’s Day Shopping Cart Races, Superbowl Party, Pool Tournaments, Halloween Costume Party, St. Michaels holiday parades with our own C-Street Happy Hour Choir, Open Mic Night for our many talented area musicians, just to name a few.» What I ordered: The smartest in our four-person bunch opted for a simple breakfast of champions, enjoying the C-Street Oatmeal($ 3) with honey, brown sugar and milk. His wife enjoyed a generous helping with the Steam Schooner($ 7.50) for three plate-sized hotcakes and two eggs, soft scrambled, with a side of bacon($ 3). My husband, eager to participate in a diner-style breakfast of champions, selected a breakfast of Three Eggs($ 5.50), soft scrambled with onions and cheddar cheese, served with a side of rye toast. I, too, loved the thought of a hugs egg breakfast and ordered the Western Omelette($ 7.75) stuffed with more than you could hope for by way of ham, diced green and red bell pepper, onion and cheddar cheese; also served with a side of toasted rye, whipped butter and a selection of jams. What I loved: The Western Omelette — crunchy vegetables, gooey cheddar and a hearty helping of food to keep me satisfied all day. Why I loved it: Friendly staff, camaraderie between local, regular customers and waitstaff, a space obviously decorated over decades and a highly reasonable menu by way of pricing and portions! Cost: Low($ 3.50 — $ 11 per large breakfast plate)

This is all about the location and history. C street has above average food especially for a saloon. Stick to the fish and traditional pub food. Kick back and enjoy the live music. Can walk to anyplace in town from the central location.

We tried the: pancakes — standard, came with three large pancakes crab omelette — nice lump pieces of crab with lots of boursin cheese YMCA(yogurt, granola, fruit, and chicken sausage) — standard spread, the sausage patty had a nice seasoning Décor is all over the map with various sports paraphernalia, stuffed dead animals, and other randoms. The upstairs is full of arcade games. The restaurant seemed a little short staffed in the morning. The waitress was running around between tables and we waited 20 – 30 minutes before the food came out.

Some of the other reviews sum the experience up pretty well. The atmosphere and service are definitely laid back and I certainly wouldn’t recommend bringing children here since it is mostly all bar seating. Lunch sandwiches were good, bar had a good selection and we enjoyed the live entertainment.

We were in St. Michaels for a relaxing weekend. Stopped by the carpenter for lunch. The waitress told us to sit anywhere we liked. We sat at a table on the bar side. The same waitress ignored us for 30 min, while bartender stared at us without saying a word. Needless to say, we left to go somewhere else, there were plenty of other options.

After 3 recommendations — one from my cousin and 2 locals we met on the trip — we had to check the place out. It’s the only place we ate that was not on the water. It is a dive bar! HA! But we went for breakfast. Even so, the employees were cussing, and even used the C – T word! Yikes. Glad I didn’t have any kids with me. The place has very interesting decore(whatever they could find), a full bar and a handful of tables. The signs announced live bands on weekends, although I can’t imagine where they would set up, it’s not very big. It’s got a very interesting history, and is in the first commercial building that was ever built in St Michaels. That made it pretty cool for me. Someone else said the locals were«salty», I’d agree with that and include most of the staff. But I found it all entertaining and amusing. I had french toast and eggs, my husband had SOS. It’s a menu of what mom might make on Sunday morning… and it is excellent. Glad I went… I’d definitely have to be drinking to be there at happy hour or later, I imagine that place is packed. My husband probably wouldn’t go during«drinking» hours. But we were very amused. We’d probably consider going back for breakfast or lunch. It’s definitely a taste of local flavor and the only place we saw people younger than us all weekend. It’s NOT what you want if you are looking for upscale or romantic or a family meal, but the food is good, reasonably priced, it’s clean, the place is relaxing and you can’t help but feel at home… assuming your home includes ecletic individuals who use bad language in front of guests. Overall«A-OK» = 3 stars

We stopped in for lunch after visiting St. Michaels Winery and exploring the town a little bit. We chose it because, honestly, it was the first place we came to while walking, the menu looked OK, and that was enough. Inside, the décor goes a little over the top with the faux finishes… the walls are painted to look like brick, the ceilings are painted to look like pressed tin. They do have some interesting things hanging from the walls and ceilings, and nice dark wood tables, with the one we chose being right in the window with lots of nice natural light. Our server didn’t waste any time getting to us to take our drink orders, and came back shortly after to take our food orders. My friend had fish & chips(kind of boring if you ask me, but apparently it’s his«go to» meal when he sees it on the menu). I opted for the corned beef reuben(they also have a turkey version). He said his food was very good. The reuben was tasty, but the meat was a bit on the tough side, which made the sandwich hard to eat without looking like a caveperson. When we were finished, it took a little longer than I’d have liked to get our check, especially considering that we were the only people in the place at the time. Overall, it was OK, but not anything that I’d say I just have to go back to St. Michaels to experience again.
