Funny time to write about a marina, but hey I forgot to do it in the summer. Although this place gets«props» for friendliness and proximity to town, their escalating dock fees for transient boaters is out of control. When we take longer trips, we have the comfort of being able to sleep on our vessel, shower, and cook, so our only needs at a marina are a slip and some power. At $ 3.50/$ 4.00 and up per foot, this marina demands upwards of $ 200 plus for a bit of water space and electric. Ridiculous. In this economy, while hotels and other travel related properties are cutting prices, this place keeps upping their fees. It’s bad enough that fuel prices make boating,(regardless of the vessels size), very expensive these days. The least a marina can do is cut some of us traveling mariners a break.

I like this marina. Sure, it’s expensive for an overnight transient slip(above $ 100), but this is St. Michaels — all the accommodations here are expensive. This marina has a nice pool right on the water, good slips, and is in the heart of the port, close to a slew of restaurants and bars. The customer service was great.. . the guy who checked us in was cheery and informative, and the dock hands were courteous and helpful. Negatives: the bathrooms/showers are just okay. Nonetheless, I look forward to using this marina again. One suggestion: be sure to call ahead, St. Michaels fills up fast.
