Artscraps is a very special place. As a society, we need to foster more places like It because they keep usable materials out of landfills and encourage creative growth. It’s really fun to wander their aisles dreaming up projects based on what you find. There are plenty of very useful everyday objects, too, like storage containers of all sorts, stationary and envelopes in every color, printer paper, spare buttons, and adhesives of all sorts. They sell pairs of knitting needles for a dollar, beads from 5 to 25 cents, all kinds of seam bindings, embroidery floss, yarn, and sewing accoutrements. They have a whole shelve of cool catalogues of fabric and wallpaper samples that are great for small projects and collaging. The list goes on an on. If you are looking for something specific on your very first visit, you might get kind of frustrated, so let this be more of an adventure and less of a list-checking trip. This is a beautiful resource for anyone who enjoys making things.

I love this place! Its great if you are a crafter, teacher, nanny or just in the market for cardstock, random keys, buttons from old community events, empty medicine bottles, broken crayons or any reusable materials. It is ecofriendly, inexpensive and supports artstart(a children’s art program).

This is a Unilocal Community Manager’s dream. Also, one of those places I visit so often that I forgot to review it! Artscraps is a surplus/secondhand store from art and crafting junk. I do mean that some of it IS junk, but if you’re willing to dig around in the tiny shop, there is also a lot of useful stuff in here! DIY-ers will love the extra cardstock, occasional fancy paper, popsicle sticks in different sizes, excess hardwood floor samples, old posters, sticky green neon paper, big cardboard tubes, old graphic design books, etc., etc., etc… Proceeds go to charity and the prices are more than reasonable(and flexible). Teachers, crafters, indie wedding invitation-makers… this one’s is for you!

I second Ashley’s review. I came here once, more than a year ago now, but I won’t forget it. What a cool place! The time I went there, I just went in to see what I could see. Although they were unable to accept my offering of leftover plastering stuff, I did find a very large cardboard barrel filled with all different sizes and colors of fleece. I bought a paper shopping bag full of scraps for a few bucks. That was fun. I’ll be back.

Art Scraps was one of my favorite stores when I was younger, mostly because they sell a lot of weird shit. Do you need 400 film canisters? Okay. What about some glittery sticker vinyl in a giant sheets? Ribbons? Buttons? Vintage postcards? It’s all here, and it’s pretty cheap. You can buy things individually or by the bagful and they do crafty birthday parties and summer camps. Pretty unique place.
