A quaint gem in Downtown White Bear Lake! No extra frills here. The interior is small and somewhat cramped, but very cozy on a lazy morning or early afternoon. A sidewalk patio adds many additional seats, and these appeared to be self-seating, first come first serve. If fancy is your thing — I wouldn’t come here. Although I have yet to encounter this mysterious«grease» smell others have written about, it certainly isn’t a neo-dive breakfast diner. It’s truly a dive for older diner dwellers to drink coffee and read the paper. Nothing ironic about the older fixtures here. The dull grey menu has the goods, though: Easily the best hash browns at a restaurant that doesn’t try to brag. Buscuits and gravy are also delicious, and the portions are not so big — a downside for some, as many have pointed out the food could be considered slightly over priced. I personally disagree, but to each their own. French toast is flavored bread if you order it that way! Interesting discovery. Raspberry swirled bread battered and fried is delicious! The wraps are also quite good, as are the burgers. They have limited seating options inside, and in the Summer, the patio is BOOMING. Anticipate a wait to sit on the plastic tables and chairs line the sidewalk — but beware, the service is terrible outside. This is not a quick lunch sort of joint on a Sunday outside. If you can handle waiting an extra 10 minutes for refills, then go ahead and sit outside. If you’re in the area with nowhere else to go, then I’d recommend it. But with Keys Café just up the road, it does seem silly they wouldn’t try a little harder.

Food was great and plentiful, still seemed a little overpriced to pay $ 11 for a vegetarian Benedict, which is a slice of tomato and spinach in place of the ham. I believe it was more expensive than the original Benedict. Still it was extremely tasty and very decent sized! All in all the service was decent as it was busy, and the food was hot and tasted fresh. A good little place for a quick breakfast. My toddler got the blueberry pancakes with sausage. She loved them! I think $ 5.95 is very reasonable for the amount of food she received, most of which she couldn’t finish. The waitress did forget her juice(the kids get a choice of drink with the meals). But that was fine as she was occupied picking out the fresh blueberries from her cakes Go check this place out… small and quaint. A definite nod to how you would have breakfast with your family on a Sunday morning in your own home.

An old school breakfast diner with all the charm and great tasty breakfast food you would expect. Located one block east of Hwy 61 in White Bear Lake with street parking and fun shops to visit after breakfast. The place is open until 3PM and there is plenty of outdoor seating as well. We were greeted by Alicia. Friendly and fast with the water and OJ. We ordered the traditional breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage links, hash browns and toast. We also ordered the hash browns with eggs over medium. The sausage links are amazing, top quality. The eggs were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The hash browns are buttery. Yummy. Even the toast was perfect. We found this place on Living Social and for $ 11, the $ 20 breakfast was a bargain. I almost didn’t purchase after reading reviews. I am not sure what people were expecting. The place did not have a grease odor, the food was not burnt and the service was not slow. I guess we all have different expectations. We expected an old school breakfast food that made us smile. Cobblestone Café exceeded our expectations. We will be back.

Consistently a good breakfast with a wide variety of items to choose from on the menu plus daily specials. Cobblestone is an institution in White Bear Lake. Not trendy or updated inside but always good. Outdoor seating in warm weather which is a great option. Must be reason they have been on the restaurant scene for so long. Give it a try if you have never eaten breakfast or lunch. Occasionally on Groupon but so reasonably priced no need to wait for coupons.

The food was fine. Paying $ 2 extra for fries with your sandwich seems crazy. Hubby had a burger and I had a waffle. Both tasted fine but his carrots were dried out. The bathroom was gross. Hair around the toilet and a gray garbage can that used to be white, ew. The napkin holders were splattered with food. The menu says they only take cash and check but a sign at the register says they take credit cards. The sign on the door says they close at 3pm but their Facebook page says they close at 8pm. We won’t be back! Too many tasty and clean places in White Bear. Try Eat or Grandmas!

Met former co-workers for breakfast on a Thursday morning. Food was OK and, as other’s have mentioned, the service was slow. From our vantage point, it was more an issue with the kitchen taking too long to crank out standard breakfast fare than the servers. The raisin toast was exceptionally good though it would have benefited from a bit more butter. I offered a credit card for payment and the server said we don’t take cards. Cash only. It came as a complete surprise as I didn’t see any mention of that in either the website or menu. Going back to look at the menu now, I notice on the bottom of the lunch menu it mentions not taking credit cards in the interest of keeping prices low. Which strikes me as odd in that what we got for what we paid was NOT an especially good value and certainly not enough to warrant the inconvenience of not being able to pay with debit or credit card…

Service was extremely slow. Server took 10 minutes to acknowledge us and we were there 50 mins on a Thursday morning waiting on breakfast. Server did not bring out our drinks. We did not bother troubling her again with bringing them out. The food was delicious. Too bad the service wasn’t better. Busy summer in downtown white bear lake. Seems management would have a better staff line up.

Good food, nice hole in the wall place. I would skip the malts as it was not very good.

Good location. Fast, friendly service. One star for each of those things. The food was pretty awful. I ordered a waffle and egg. The waffle had a rancid oil flavor, and was greasy, as if someone had greased the waffle iron with rancid, butter flavored Crisco. It was chalky, not good. The egg was made in some sort of mold, so it was shiny and glossy and rubbery. An egg. This is not rocket science. The two others dining with me fared no better. Too bad. Cute location.

Food was mediocre and it was S L O W!!! It took an entire hour to get our food after we ordered it. And it took about 15 – 20 minutes for the waitress to take our order in the first place. There was no apology or acknowledgement of the delay either. And after a wait like that, I wish I could say the food was worth it, but unfortunately I can’t. The pancakes were undercooked, the american fries were more like tater tots and everything else was just OK. We won’t be going back. Oh well.

I was leery to come here because of the reviews but since White Bear Lake is my new meeting spot since reconnecting with my oldest BFF, we met for breakfast. Di(who you will be hearing more of), had warned me on the phone, prior to my arrival that it might not be to my liking, and she was correct. Immediately when walking in, you smell old grease, like the kind that has been in the air for years and has sunk into the carpeting and booths. I got up early for this??? :( Everything has to be original in this place and not in a quaint way. There were only a handful of people in the place and most were elderly. Food and Drink: Coffee-Love that they give you the entire pot ! Kudos for that but it was not good coffee. It was weak Folgers or something like that but at least it was plentiful! Food– Picky Me– I knew in my heart, the veggies might not be fresh, so I opted for the safe option of french toast. It was good but not great. That’s all, I was too scared to try anything else. Di-Omelette with several ingredients but she said the mushrooms were canned. No surprise to me but overall, she said it was fine. The hash browns were prepared crispy as she asked, and the toast looked good. I brought the teenager a Buffalo Chicken wrap home and she said it was really good so that might be a safe option. She eats this everywhere so she is a pretty good judge. Why three stars? Our server, Shannon, was incredibly sweet and nice. She was attentive and even though she was in the process of moving, she still was a happy girl and interacted with all the customers in a fun way. Even when food is mediocre to poor, if the service is good, it makes it not so bad. If I were rating on food and ambiance alone, it would be a one. Service alone, a five, so we have a three. With so many other good choices around, I doubt I will visit again.

Charming from the outside, but not so much on the inside — dirty, worn out carpeting, dingy yellowing ceilings and walls. Service is so-so. Does not convey a welcome feel. Oh and the food? It’s good and greasy.

This place is the perfect definition of «greasy spoon.» With a little more grime thrown in for good measure. To keep it simple, the place was ok. Not really bad, but not very nice either. Dirty walls, dirty floor, flies all over the damn place… I had the patty melt. It was alright. Nothing special. My boyfriend ordered the fries, and they were brown in spots. That means that the oil probably needs to be changed in the deep fryer. The waitress was very nice though. Talked to me about my tattoos. The usual. They are only open until 3 I guess. Hmm.

I’ve eaten here a few times now. This last visit kind of sealed the deal on why I don’t go more. It’s a rather standard diner/café inside. The meals are fair priced. The food was a bit greasy for my taste though. The thing it has going for it is the location and somewhat of the atmosphere. If you want to sit on the sidewalk in downtown White Bear or you want to feel like your in a café, this is the place to go. If you want a notably better meal at the same price point, walk 150 feet and go to Washington Square or Keys just a few blocks away.

Helloooooo, greasy spoon!!! This is the kind of neighbordhood joint that Perkin’s wants you to think they are. They do eggs and hashbrowns very well. The food is piping hot and on your table approximately 45 seconds after coming off the grill. Like Jack F., cash only places annoy me too. I mean, who carries cash anymore? Not me. Doesn’t stop us from coming here though. The lure of hot, greasy hash browns is just too tempting.

Went here for breakfast on Sunday morning. More of an old school diner atmosphere. The veggies on the inside of my western omlette were not cooked, so I was bummed about that. Good coffee though. Very tight quarters inside and had a wierd layout. Cash only places annoy me to no end. They are a thing of the past and with good reasons.
