I tried this place for the first time today because my husband took the car to work and I had no lunch foods in the house, only candy from Christmas to eat. While a chocolate orange is nice, it is no meal. To start, Erbert and Gerbert has a fun name. It sounds like the noise a frog would make. It was better than Subway. I’d say maybe on a level with Jimmy John’s, but Jimmy John’s is heavy handed with mayo(gross) and this place is perfect with their proportions. Kudos to my delivery driver. He was 10 minutes late because it was snowing a lot and St. Paul can’t figure out how to sand or salt so the poor kid risked his life to deliver a sandwich to my lazy ass. He apologized for the delay nonetheless. Give this kid a raise! I was check #60002 at 11:33am. Had it been me, I would have had a terrible attitude driving in that crap to deliver people their stupid lunch, even if it was only 1.3 miles away. Thank you skinny kid with glasses and curly-ish hair. You are a snowstorm sandwich hero. I got the Pompeii(chicken salad) on wheat and it was good. The chicken was similar consistency to subway but cut in cubes. There were a couple bad bites in there like Subway chicken has sometimes. The flavor of the chicken salad was really good though. Their bread was good but deceiving. I got what and it looked like white and tasted like white. I compared it with my brother’s sandwich which was on white and I did indeed have«wheat» bread. It was very white wheat bread. It did taste good though. Like, WAY better than Subway bread and better than Jimmy John’s by a little. My brother got the Titan(pesto turkey). He said it was good but he ate it so fast I am not sure he tasted it. They rip the guts out of the bread and then give them to you on the side. That’s a little weird. I don’t have a problem with it, I just don’t get it. The cookie was an appropriate size for $ 1.50. Cans of soda are $ 1.50. I think that is steep for a can of soda when they are $ 0.79 at the gas station. However, am I walking to the gas station in the snow for a soda? Nope. You got me Erbert and Gerbert. I’ll pay your $ 1.50. Their Erbert and Gerbert brand chips are exactly like standard issue Lay’s. Overall, an it was okay sandwich shop that will deliver in the Merriam Park area. I will probably go back but choose a different sandwich and maybe try their soup.

This sandwich shop is very convenient for my family so I was hoping that it would be good. The first time I visited, while I was the only customer in the shop, it took forever to get our sandwiches. Unfortunately, they really weren’t worth the wait. The bread was dry, toppings were missing, etc. I decided to give it a second chance today. There won’t be a third time. Again, I waited FOREVER for very simple sandwiches and some soup. When we got home, the sandwiches were missing mayonnaise and, again, weren’t very good. Frankly, the prices are high for the lackluster quality and it’s really hard to understand why it takes SO long to get your food.

This was my E&G experience and… yeah, pretty disappointing. My co-worker called in the order for a few of us and requested for me a ‘couple-up’, which I read on the menu was a half sandwich and cup of soup for $ 6.79. From what I can tell, they instead made for me a boxed lunch which is a full sandwich, chips or soup, a ½ pickle and a cookie… which ended up costing almost twice as much as what I wanted — and I didn’t even receive a pickle! I also am disappointed in the cellophane-sealed cookie(which the menu claims to be fresh baked but it is so cold that I’m fairly certain it was just thawing out from a freezer situation). The sandwich was decent, just more than I wanted and I doubt I’ll go back to the second half. If I have anything good to say, it would definitely be that yay, they deliver to our location! Also, the blanco chicken chili was very flavorful and if I do ever decide to order again, I would probably just choose the soup. on another note… I found it very odd that the loaded baked potato soup has celery, carrots, and green peppers in it — 3 things that I have never ever seen on a baked potato!
