I’ve eaten here dozens of times over many years. It doesn’t bother me that some of the workers speak English as a second language, or their manner is brusk at times. They work hard to deliver good food to your plate. I’m disgusted by the many racist comments I’ve seen regarding the workers and this place on both Unilocal and Google. They’re always friendly to me. Maybe that’s because I respect them and say thank you once in awhile instead of acting like a demanding prick. I’ve heard that sometimes helps. After all these years, this place is still the best deal in town for fresh, all-you-can-eat snow crab legs and claws in the Twin Cities. Not only that, but you can get egg foo young, fried rice, lo mein, Mongolian beef, crawfish, clams, and whatever else you want. The food is hot, fresh, and home made. Does it sit under a heat lamp for a time? Yes, idiots, it’s a fricking buffet. If you can’t handle it and think you can do better elsewhere, go home. At times it’s slow, and I’ve asked them to bring out more crab legs and they do so immediately. When it’s crowded, you must be a hunter. You must stake out the crab with the instincts of an apex predator and POUNCE! Meow! Meow take! Meow eat! Once, a fat redneck called me a racial slur here, but it didn’t stop me. Plus they have soft serve ice cream! I have never seen a cockroach here. Ever. Those stories are pure BS and probably racially motivated BS at that. Seriously, jerks, cast the first stone, ye who have never before eaten at an Asian buffet and think you know what quality is! For those of you who have, think about how expensive it is and how delectable it is that they put out snow crab legs every five minutes.

I do understand what a buffet is all about. It is not about top end food. That being said this was one of the worst I have been to. The sushi rolls were stale and tasted like bad fish. I did enjoy the Mongolian beef but on a second trip to the table I found no beef in it at all, just peppers and onions. Most things I tried were not very hot and were stale. I will not go back.

I am usually not a buffet type person but decided to give this place a try. upon arrival we were promptly seated and sat. it took several minutes for the server to get our drink order and by than we had already been at the buffet. to sum up the buffet if you have been to one chinese buffet you have pretty much been to them all. all the same food basic stir fries and very poor quality sushi(yuk). I gave this place stars because the staff is friendly and some of the stir fries that they did have was decent.

The food was stone cold and my stomach was feeling less than stellar afterwards. If not for these two very large considerations in whether or not I like a place, I’d probably just give it a ‘meh’. The dining area was almost too big, the staff seemed apologetic that it was so empty, which was odd. They had a huge selection, but given that it was cold and then made me feel sick, not so impressive anymore.

Went in at 930 for a quick meal and they wouldn’t allow us to come in because they close at 10. Didn’t apologize just walked in the back and ignored us. Love the food though!

A lot to choose from. The lobster is not a bad deal. Each lobster is $ 4.99 plus the buffet price $ 15.37. Over all not a bad deal.

This place has been here for 15 or so years and while this place never has been even close to one of the best buffets ive been to, at least in the past it wasnt a total disappoiment either. I have probably been here maybe 10 times in my life and most of those times were in 2002 or before when I lived in West Saint Paul on and off back before that buffet in Signal Hills and Great Moon hit Robert Street yet and all that was around was that buffet next to Rainbow foods, Asia Inn, and Lucky China and even then it wasnt really even better than those buffets but bigger so more selection so it was worth going to once in a while. Now with The place in Signal Hills and Great Moon this place doesnt hold a candle to any of those, and after tonights food experience I see no reason to go rushing back. The staff were friendly and good about refilling pops often but the food was way too salty even for asian food standards and it was not warm at all and did not seem fresh. At 6pm on a monday night food should not taste like that. I realize I ate here on probably the least popular night of the week to eat out so yes I understand the buffet isnt constantly being replenished with fresh stuff for reasons of Lack of traffic but this stuff tasted like it was made at 10am before lunch rush if there. Was one and my one question to this place is are your burners that heat your buffet working? At all? I have lived in eastern suburbs of saint Paul like Maplewood, White Bear Lake, and oakdale on and off from 1997 to 2005 and lived in east suburbs listed above full time since 2005 and must say there is a lot of better asian restaurants on the east side then there is on the west side anywhere. Barbecue City Mongolian Grill in Stillwater blows every asian place on Robert Street out of the water, Ying Yangs on Whte Bear Avenue in Maplewood makes the best kung Pao shrimp ever invented, and Yangs Woodbury is da bomb and there are many more great asian restaurants out this way than I listed. Every West Saint Pauler acts like Great Moon buffet is god and they invented it. Not true, Great Moon hit the scene in Maplewood by Maplewood Mall like 1996 era. It came to West Saint Paul like 2003,2004 range, Come to the west side for good mexican food, go to the east side for good asian food.

I like this buffet and I’ve been going here for years! I love Asian buffets this one has a bit of everything. Is the food greasy? sure no one said this was healthy, if you want to eat something healthy go to a organic restaurant or something. Don’t know why people are complaining I stop at this place at least once a month, the prices are cheap and the mangolian beef bar is pretty cool like most places. You’re not gonna find a cheaper buffet with better food anywhere else

This buffet probably was grand at one point but now its just a dingy place that’s dark. It seems to have a lot of local folks stopping in during the dinner service but I honestly don’t know why because the food isn’t great. Its luke warm and edible but without much flavor. The workers work hard because honestly there was about 2servers throughout the whole restaurant they had to With all the different buffet options now I would not go back or suggest anyone going here unless you had to. This place was also overpriced about $ 13 a person on a weekday YIKES.

Oh.My.Gawd!!! I have eaten here 3 times in the past and it was mediocre to poor with angry wait staff. Still, a year passes, you’re starving and it’s the first place you come to… Tried to eat lunch here two days ago, made it two steps in the first door to push open the second door – and be greeted by a cockroach high-tailing it across the doorsill. Turned right around and high-tailed myself outta there! Drive 2 miles towards SP and eat at Great Moon Buffet.

I had a random dinner with my family here back in September. It was a Sunday night and the place wasn’t SUPER packed at all; so, we didn’t have to wait long to get a table and get to eating. The buffet price was reasonable and included a beverage; which is something you don’t always find these days. There isn’t a HUGE selection, but the items that they do have are the usuals that you find in a Chinese buffet table. The taste wasn’t awe inspiring and was basically in line with all the other buffet places in town. There was a selection of seafood on hand and the crab legs were actually really good; they were cooked well and easy to pull apart and get to the meat. For a quick meal, go for it!

Don’t forget your Barf Bag. The service is alright. My grandma likes this place because she doesn’t speak English and likes see what she orders. But the food is awful. Greasy and seems a bit unsanitary. The problem is that certain cuisines(e.g., Chinese, Japanese, and even Italian) are meant to be cooked to order and marinated in there juices as they cook. All Asian dishes are meant to be served hot so the flavor of the spices can be enjoyed. Heat lamps are not a substitute for a dishes cooked in a wok or a grill. Also, most immigrant Asians do not know how to provide a friendly atmosphere. They believe that consumers most be strictly controlled, not served. It makes me angry that Americans probably have a horrible view of how Asians are in general. This is not what it is like in Taiwan or Japan.
