I unreservedly recommend John’s Lamps!!! I have been coming here since the early 70’s. I have never been dissatisfied. I have had many lamps rewired, parts replaced, and many times was able to find matching glass shades. I have sold a number of antique lamps and have always gotten a fair, even generous, price. John’s is the best and most helpful resource for antique lamps!

The most amazing lamp and lighting store ever if you love the real thing. John and his crew(including his 90-something mom) preside over the most delicious collection of vintage lighting. A must go for all you old home lovers! The lighting is as interesting as the staff. Do not expect it quick as they run on their own time. But expect amazing knowledge, stunning stock and idiosyncratic personalities. Wonderful store.

This shop is astounding. I loved working with John today on two projects: a purchase and a fixture retrofit. He’s funny, he’s kind, and he really knows his stuff. Want beautiful fixtures at a fair price(not cheap, _fair_)? This is the place, and they deserve your business. You’ll never regret your visit.

Holy lampshade, Batman! Did the final cleaning out of my sons’ place. Formerly a house bought by my in laws in the 50’s. The lamp we found had dry rot. Don’t hear that term much these days. For 20 bucks John replaced the wire, rotting innards, etc. Just at the front of the store I was mesmerized. I love art deco. Furnishing your place or needing something fixed, this is it. I am amazed at the craftsmen in this city. I was called this morning after dropping it off last night.

John is a saint! We bought a chandelier from a consignment shop and it was missing a few parts. They recommended John’s over the other shops in town. He found a coordinating canopy, extra matching chain, and helped us get the chain adjusted properly. We’d been searching high and low for sconces for the same room. He had a perfect pair that he rewired within 24 hours to meet our short deadline. Awesome customer service!

This place should probably be called John’s Antique Lamporium or something, because lamps are definitely their main attraction. If I were ever on the hunt for an antique lamp, I’d be thanking my lucky stars for this shop. Never have I seen so many light fixtures crammed into one locale, so its probably best to ask the shopkeeper if you’re looking for something specific. As a casual browser, I did just fine on my own though. They had decades worth of merchandise, ranging from Tiffany lamps to gilded chandeliers to some mid-century mod. I don’t know much about pricing for real antiques or for lamps, but the price tags seemed fair to me. They also offer lamp repairs.

If you are looking for Antique Lamps you pretty much HAVE to stop in here. The place is stuffed to the gills and the variety is amazing. Even if you aren’t in the market for a lamp or chandelier — you should stop in for a looky-loo. It’s like walking through a historical lamp museum. It appears they do repair work there as well — there were piles of lamps on the floor with repair tags on them and customer info. That was actually a little frustrating — it was hard to tell what was customer repair stuff(meaning peoples items that you shouldn’t be touching and drooling on) and stuff that was for sale in the store. It was a great place to walk through and scout for lamps — and a great resource to know about.
