Remember when tobacco shops only carried tobacco in various forms and tobacco accoutrement? Me neither. Nevertheless, I have seen the pictures. Jubilee St Maries has become a modern day version of a tobacco shop by selling tobacco and tobacco products at the same time it has morphed into a modern day convenience store. Or maybe it always was a convenience store. It’s hard to tell. This shop carries far more of the everything-else than it does tobacco. I suppose if you’re working downtown and need some cold medicine, an aspirin, antacid, a bamboo plant, a souvenir mug, a seen-on-tv doodad, glue, tape, greeting card, laundry soap(if you’re sleeping in the office, I guess) an energy drink or soda, ash tray(ironically), lottery ticket, or candy and chips, and don’t want to drive somewhere or stop on your way to or from work, then a walk in the skyway system to Jubilee will work nicely. The store is crammed with things of all kinds. Completely crammed. If you know what you need, but don’t have time to find it, then I suggest you ask the staff who can point you in the right direction. If you have the time, then peruse the wares and find things you didn’t know you needed or wanted. Jubilee St Maries is fun. It’s a small representation of what might be the minimum take-it-for granted products in our consumer society.
