Amazing, helpful staff, superior product, and best of all, a wonderful dog greeter! Love the flowers on the table as well!

The folks at Specs Appeal are very good at helping pick out frames that suit your face. They really care about customer service and will work hard to make sure you are happy. Also, they have wonderful, creative frames that other places don’t carry, and the lenses they use are top-notch. They give the kind of personalized service you get from a small, local shop.

I stopped by looking for a replacement glasses case for my sunglasses… I wasn’t opposed to paying for a nice leather case, as a matter of fact that’s what I was intending to do… the cheap plastic case that came with my expensive, prescription Ray Ban Wayfarers was falling apart, and the case was less than three months old! To make matters worse, this was my second case in less than five months of ownership. So I stopped by to see what Specs Appeal had that I could purchase. I was greeted by a cheerful guy(who I assume was the owner) and told him about my plight. He said that he had just been talking about this very thing with a previous customer. As we chatted he opened a closet door and rummaged around, much like Mr. Ollivander in Harry Potter… He found a case, tested its fit for my shades and said, «Here ya go!» I asked how much and he scoffed at me. «It’s on the house.» he said. «Take it. No charge.» I was stunned. «What?! Are you sure? I don’t mind paying — really.» «No.» he insisted. «Take it.» I left quietly, and smiling. Wow. What a great neighbor! When it’s time for new glasses, I’ll at least give them a look-see instead of my usual stop at one of the Luxitica brand shops in town. You should too.

I’ve purchased my last 2 pairs of glasses from here and I think they have the best selection of eyeglasses in the Grand Ave area. Lots of great international and funky designs, good lighting to try on glasses, and lots of mirrors to check yourself out in. The workers are pretty attendant unless it gets busy in there and there are a million people to help. The last couple of times I’ve been in there the workers have steered me towards glasses that are well-suited to my face. I think that is definitely a plus – they are ready and willing to give advice. If you are the type that likes to browse un-bothered, you’ll definitely have to let them know this, though. Prices are decent. You pay for the big name brands but the designs are unique and well made. In my opinion, I don’t mind splurging a little on glasses since I wear them so much and consider them an accessory. They always have a $ 50 coupon in the City Pages but they don’t actually make you bring the coupon in. Be sure to mention it, though.
