Most reviews of acupuncturists you’ll read will tell you this is the first time the review has had acupuncture and it’s amazing… which is more of a review of acupuncture as a method, and not a review of the skill of the acupuncturist. Tommy is skilled at placing the needles in places where I know they’re working, more so than other practitioners I’ve visited. If you’ve tried acupuncture a couple of times, but your response doesn’t seem dramatic, you might try him before you decide that it doesn’t work well for you. He does offer bulk packages, where you pay for 6(or even less, I think) sessions in advance for a discounted rate. My issues with him are twofold: 1. he often tries to squeeze in treatment on your front & back, which I think leaves the needles too little time in you to be as effective as they could be 2. He clearly has a weight bias. I’ve been losing weight for the last year, noticeably so, and made it clear I wasn’t interested in changing my diet as what I’m doing now is working well for me on a number of fronts(not just weight). A few appointments into my third package with him he tells me that although he’s noticed I’ve lost weight he’d like me to «pay attention and be mindful to what my weight is.» From an E.D. perspective, this is really NOT cool. For a pure customer service perspective, it’s annoying to ignore what I’ve said is off the table. If you are of normal weight or weight discussion is not a trigger, Tommy’s treatment is likely to be very healing for you. Otherwise, YMMV.
