Atmosphere was great. Service was ok. Food was a different story. As far as flavor it was very good. The problem was, we found what looked like a piece of burlap sack in the mash potatoes. When we told the waitress she asked if we wanted anything else but did not really sound too apologetic. When the manager came over he tried to sell it as a potato hair. Not possible. It was not a potato hair. We could not even pull it apart. He than walked away. It ruined the rest of our meal. It was disappointing since we had looked so forward to eating there. The tanks were beautiful.

Atmosphere is amazing. Pretty pricy. The ceviche wasn’t as great as you can get in a little stand in South/Central America and way more expensive. The calamari wS definitely very yummy! The kimchi salmon was not as great as our server pumped us up about and my friend had the snapper special and she seemed to enjoy it. All in all, I think you’re paying for the name and not the taste of the food. Great presentation, though!

Update: still amazing. On this third visit, we took friends for a big party of 10 for my husband’s birthday. They are also local and had not yet been. They will ALL be back and are already planning the next birthday dinner. We kept saying«mine is so good, how’s yours?» Tip#1: Make reservations way in advance. Tip #2: Valet is for people with reservations only.(We happened to get there right when someone was pulling out so didn’t need it, but heard another group having that conversation.) Aaaah, this deleted my other review instead of putting it at the bottom! Oh well. 5stars :)

Rumfish was the«fancy» restaurant we decided to visit for our last night in St. Pete. It was also my daughter’s birthday dinner. We chose this spot thanks in large part to the aquarium. Unfortunately the beautiful tank view was the best part of this experience. The food was adequate, which is not what you expect from a place like this. If you like paying a lot for a little, then stop by Rumfish. If you like quality food that’s more affordable, there are plenty of other establishments in the area that will meet your needs.(Try Shell’s or Snapper’s!) Of course, I’m able to comment on the food because we got past the hour and fifteen minute wait to get a table. Personally, I wanted to leave after first speaking to Meghan, one of the four hostesses. I could tell immediately that if she was allowed to be the public face of this businesses I didn’t want any part of it. But again, it was my daughter’s birthday(4th) and she wanted to see the fish. Long story short… I don’t see a situation where I end up at Rumfish again. And if I do, I hope they put salt and pepper on the table so I can season my food properly.

For a hotel/resort restaurant, it’s actually pretty good. The giant fishtank is obviously the cool talking point here, but don’t be one of those jags who goes right up to it if you’re not seated there to take pictures with the flash on using your dumb iPhone. I promise nobody on your snapchat cares about you putting the caption«dinner!» over a picture of a tarpon. Anyway, they’ve got a decent local beer selection and the grouper sandwich was legit, so I guess there are worse places to drop $ 70 on a lunch. Bonus points for being a Guy Harvey property, so you can go in wearing your GH shirt with a painting of fish flying around a lighthouse on the back and play«match the apex predator»

My husband and I shared out anniversary dinner together here last week. Out of all of the restaurants in the Tradewinds/Guy Harvey resorts this is the one I would recommend. The food is super fresh and well thought out. We had the calamari for an app which was so amazing, and both entrée’s were really good. The ambiance is romantic and upscale and it’s not all that expensive for fresh seafood.

So my husband and I are locals from Seminole, & once again are leaving incredibly disappointed in this place. We have visited 5 times now since opening & the last 2 visits have changed our minds about ever wanting to come back. Last visit was early January for our 1 year anniversary.(We picked Rumfish to celebrate because we were married at The Tradewinds Isl Grand Resort ¼/15). So at our anniversary dinner(which was earliest dinner reservation you offered, I believe 5 or 6pm) My husband went to order the special grouper cheeks appetizer & you were already sold out…@ 6pm… that was just confusing to us. Our visit tonight was short, as we decided to turn right back around once we learned the«weekend long» special again was not available. I received the usual emails from Rumfish advertising that Lionfish was back on the menu«all weekend long» for Lionfish Awareness Day 5⁄14. Why advertise something that won’t last«all weekend». We won’t be recommending Rumish to any of our family and friends any longer. We brought our concerns up to the hostess, I hope they responsibly advise management.

RumFish Grill is a solid option on St. Pete Beach. On the resort strip, it’s a bit pricey(as one would expect) but the service is fantastic, as is the food! I was a bit nervous because there are so many mixed reviews, but was overwhelmingly impressed by the quality of food and service. Service: We were seated immediately, our server was incredibly friendly and attentive, food arrived very, very quickly, all in all really wonderful service on a busy Saturday night! Ambiance: Really fun; spacious but still feels intimate, and obviously the huge fish tank is a pleasure to look at! The Guy Harvey artwork all over the walls is really neat as well. The place is dark, so the menus light up which is fun. Food: The best part! We started with the crispy squid, and it was one of the better fried calamaris I’ve ever had, and an extremely generous portion… the 2 dipping sauces were great(try them together!). The grilled swordfish with pineapple salsa was absolutely perfectly portioned and cooked. The prickly pear mojito was super delicious and very strong! Highly recommend if you want good seafood and a fun dining experience on St. Pete Beach. One star knocked off because although the food is good, it wasn’t AMAZING, and just a bit overpriced for what you get…

I came here expected it to be good, but I had a great experience. Once you walk in the door there is a nice little store with different clothing and trinkets that can be purchased. Many of the items, go figure, are guy harvey and they are niced but a little pricey. There are many photo opportunities outside and inside of the store. The décor and layout of the restaurant, store, and bar is very nice. We were seated immediately after informing them of our reservation. We were served with water and they put a bread bowl on the table. We tried a few of the different appetizers and they were all very tasty. The crab bisque and the tuna were my favorite. The soup had a little bit of a spice, and the tuna was like a ceviche mixed with other vegetables and was good. For my meal I got the cheese totillini shrimp. The serving size was decent and perfect for one meal, although I expected to have leftovers based on the price. The whole experience was really cool with the light up menus and check, fish tank, and ambiance of the place. Overall I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. I hope to visit again sometime in the future.

This place is perfect for family dinners(with young children) because of the gigantic fish tank wall – oh, just imagine how happy the kids would be! The atmosphere of this restaurant is amazing because it makes everyone feel like they’re inside the fish tank, swimming and gliding with the fishies: D They also provide children with ipads with a bunch of games to keep them entertained, how thoughtful! Although I do need to point out that I realized it’s kind of messed up to be eating seafood in front of a bunch of fishes… HAHAXD The food here is pricey but pretty good – you’re paying the extra for the experience of the restaurant and I think it’s completely worth it. We came during Thanksgiving day(yes, they are open) and so two the dishes we got were Thanksgiving specials(Turkey special and Stuffed Lobster Tail). I got the Fish over Risotto and the kid in our family ordered mac and cheese with curly fries from the kids menu. Free parking is available at the lot in front.

RumFish Grill is a beautiful dining experience offering up complimentary valet parking, a beautiful gift shop with Guy Harvey inspired clothing and artwork with an indoor and outdoor bar with a spacious dining room with a 33,500 gallon aquarium built by the guys on the T.V. show Tanked. I dined with 7 friends on a Friday night and the service was outstanding provided by Emilio who was fast and courteous. A Legend for sure. Everyone in my party mentioned there meals were amazing, No issues at all. Overall the quality, taste and portion sizes were perfect. A great dining experience and everyone loved it.

I wanted so much to give this place five stars. But, and there’s always a but. When we arrived, we were asked if we had reservations. I did not know that reservations were required. But we were seated at a booth, very far away from their famous fish tank, which is why we were here. We saw the show on how the tank was made, and we also saw the segment that Emeril Lagasse did on the restaurant. We were seated and a short while later Melissa our server came by and introduced herself and took our drink order. I noticed that the cocktails were taking a little longer than usual, and Melissa explained that the bar was a little backed up. I was OK with that. I ordered a seafood brochette, which is a skewered seafood served over a wilted salad. It truly is a beautiful presentation. My wife had Green curry, with some chicken that we paid an additional eight dollars for, it looked like about a quarter of a cup of shredded chicken was added to her salad. Melissa told her it was not spicy, my wife felt that it was spicier than usual. On several occasions I had to track down either a hostess, or another server to get my water glass refilled, and to get some salt and pepper for my wife’s salad. Melissa seem to have disappeared. This young lady was not in a hurry to help anybody. After our dishes were cleared by somebody else, not Melissa. She did come by inquire about our meal. I did say that I enjoyed my meal and my wife enjoyed hers. Now here comes the point of «not paying attention.» I commented on the table next to ours, because the lady was having the seafood brochette, the same dish that I had for dinner. Melissa commented, «you should try it sometime.» Excuse me, that’s what I just had for dinner. All the employees that we encountered there were very pleasant, very kind, and just were eager to help you and serve you. Melissa was lucky, that she received a 10% tip. I may try again in the future, but I will not be sitting at Melissa’s tables. A word to all servers everywhere, «you never know who you’re talking to, and you never know who is really sitting at your table.»

Rumfish was a major disappointment. I wanted to pick the perfect place for my girlfriend’s 30th birthday. I called around to different restaurants(not being from the area), and Rumfish excitedly told me they would take great care of us, including offering to seat us close to their famous fishtank. Sounded awesome! When we arrived for our reservation a few days later, we overheard the staff discussing how at the last minute a large party had dropped in and in order to accommodate them near the fish tank they decided to «shuffle» other people around. They told us that they would locate us a new seat. About 15 minutes after our reservation, we received a text saying our table was finally ready and we were taken to a dark location in the back of the restaurant. They told us that they had to change our reservation to accommodate the new large party. No apology, just matter of factly told us it was a «business decision». My girlfriend was obviously disappointed, so we decided to leave and go somewhere else. We ended up at Snappers across the street. The food there was fantastic, the service was great and the prices weren’t artificially inflated by a giant fish tank. I recommend Snappers. I gave Rumfish 2 stars because we never tried the food, but the service was a huge disappointment.

After the Tampa Bay Rays baseball game, George and I went to Rumfish Grill at St. Petersburg beach. This restaurant is owned by the famous Guy Harvey. We went there because we watched a show called«Tanked» on «Animal Planet» a while ago where this company builds enormous fishtanks for display at restaurants attractions and homes. They built a large 55,000 gallon tank and made it look like you were scuba diving under water. They also made a smaller tank for the side of the restaurant. You can view the fish tank from the dining room or you can go around the side and see the fish tank sideview from there. It was very dimly lit so that you could see the illuminated tank. The very cool thing was that when you open the menus they were illuminated also. Definitely have never seen that before in any restaurant I’ve been in. George and I ordered a cocktail(Fish Tanked and Shark Bite). They were very tasty. The Fish Tanked was tropical fruit flavored. The Shark Bite was a mixture of Spiced Rum, Blue Curaçao and Sloe Gin. George ordered seafood brochette which is seafood on the skewer over wilted salad. He really loved that. I ordered green curry with chicken and jasmine rice. That was tasty too but a little more spicy than I wanted it. Overall our experience was faurly pleasant except for the fact that our waitress kept disappearing and we had to get the hostess and other waiters and waitresses to fill our water, bring us some salt and clear our plates on the table. Also, it was very pricey. Our total meal bill was over $ 75.

Nice restaurant. Loved my server Shawn! The aquarium was pretty nice too. The food was ok but the sticker shock on the bill left a bitter taste. My mom and I had soup and salad. We shared an artichoke dip and she had a drink $ 85.00. I thought that was an expensive lunch for what we had.

If you are looking for mediocre food with an amazing view of a fish tank, this is your place to go! I brought my friend here for lunch the other day as she was visiting from out of town. The vibe is definitely touristy(it’s on Tradewinds property and is adjacent to the Guy Harvey store) but the ambiance is nice. A huge fish tank with all kinds of sea life takes up an entire wall. The menus light up which lets them keep the restaurant dark inside. Food was eh. The paella was good, but extremely salty and they use frozen vegetables. My fiancé liked his burger but nothing out of this world. Service was friendly but slow — waters were empty and not refilled for quite some time. I will mention that it is a good place to bring someone who is gluten free. My friend, who has celiac, was able to enjoy her burger on a gluten free bun and a side of baked sweet potato fries. The prices are high for lunch, but that’s to be expected on the beach. I personally probably won’t be back, but enjoyed my time there and it was something unique for my tourist friend.

Spectacular ambiance, of course. The aquarium wall is lovely and the lighting and décor accent that main event throughout. Service was really super sub par. The ladies at the hostess stand were brusque and as it says in my tip below, it was clearly policy not to seat people on arrival, reservations or not. We «checked in» and then were told they would text us when our table was ready– about 10 minutes. Conveniently, there is a gift shop right there that you have to walk through to get to the restaurant! We opted to check out the viewing area of the aquarium. Once seated, we waited awhile for everything– drinks, entrée, check, water refills. I had the mahi mahi risotto and it was kind of dry and overall«meh.» I’m glad I went for the experience, but wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t really recommend.

Rumfish Grill is a huge investment for the restaurant. The restaurant is originally a conference room for the hotel. The ballroom or conference room is alternated to a restaurant later. When Tradewinds Island Resort bought this place, they think big to give a wow factor for the patron who eat there. They designed this restaurant with gigantic aquarium that enable people to swim on it and the outsider who not eat there can enjoy the view without walking into the restaurant. This multi million project make an impact to the customer who eat there. The lunch is consider affordable and good to eat here. We have order the creole BBQ shrimp and chargrilled oysters. The shrimp is fresh and jumpy. They top with nice creole sauce. The grilled oyster is top with Parmesan crust. Nice touch. Overall the service is real good. Food came out ok. Please come to this restaurant a bit early at 11:00 am. You can enjoy the touch tank experience in the hotel before lunch. They have the sea creatures touch from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon

We went for lunch and I was very impressed with the experience. The fish tanks, artworks, the photo ops, and the food were on point. It’s not a cheap place, but the décor and lunch offerings were very good. The.burger was excellent and cooked just right. A piquant green sauce, queso fresco, and serrano pepper. Presentation was fun too. The fish tacos were also tasty, we got them with the same sauce as a substitution because we are anti-mayo. The crabcake was meaty though not the best ever. The shrimp were firm. I was pleased and my expectations exceeded. :) Service was friendly and accomodating. Oh and the sweet potato steak ifres were hot, crispy, with a touch of sweet. Very very good.
