My other half and I went here one Saturday morning in late January for breakfast. We waited at the counter to place our order: empanadas and coffee. We were given the empanadas and told to find a seat, they’ll bring the coffee to us. We paid, found a place to eat and ate our empanadas. They wee just OK, not great. The coffee never came. The DH went to ask about the coffee. They forgot about it. I’m forgetting about this place.

If you’re looking to grab a bite to eat or some pastries, Del Sur Bakery should not be missed. This little gem is located just off the main stretch, about a block away from the Del Sur Restaurant. There’s seating in front as well as cozy couches in the back. The place is so cute, decorated with art & trinkets. I tried the lamb empanadas which were the perfect pairing of savoury lamb, spices, in a flaky envelope. The turkey & cheese croissant was tasty too. We went overboard on desserts but it was so worth it! The homemade vanilla marshmallows, Christmas cookies with hints of fennel, alfajors are like light shortbread cookies with dolce de leche sandwiched in between & coated with coconut, guava cheese turnover is so amazing, flaky elephant ears dipped in chocolate were amazingly light, lemon bars that perfectly balance tanginess & sweetness… It was all so good with a cup of coffee. Yea, I ate all that.

My night didn’t start so well… but for damn sure Del Sur Bakery(and fellow Unilocalers) made sure it ended on a high, sweet note! I’m going to keep my review short & sweet & let my photos tell the story, but here’s a little painting before the pictures… It looks unassuming from the outside, but inside, it is gorgeous, wine bottles line black shelves. The décor is sleek, atmosphere is dark & trendy, but the desserts are light & heavenly. Ordered four desserts from the display cases to share with my date, a café mocha, and an americano. The best $ 18 spent in a long time(especially after a horrible $ 100+ dinner elsewhere). But they offer so much more… they have imported cheeses & charcuterie, homemade marshmallows, meringue, & mini Amaretti cookies. Even a deli that I will come back & try for lunch. Order the crème brûlée and whatever meringue-topped-fluffy-mountain dessert there is… and thank me later. Oh. and the guava-creamcheese turnover was yum-delicioso too…

Good thing we didn’t discover this place at the beginning of our week long stay! The pound I gained could have been several pounds! We liked it so much that we had lunch on Friday and breakfast on Saturday. The pastry case — well, really the whole place — is beautifully put together. The art work(which is for sale) is good and nicely displayed. The staff is friendly(and one of the owners remembered us from dinner at Del Sur restaurant the night before) and the pasties are amazing. Try the savory empanadas, palmiers, blueberry muffins and anything with guava.

One word. Riquisimo! If you’re looking for a lighter fare alternative to fried shrimp, BBQ or pizza, try this place. I totally went to town here and enjoyed it all. Baked empanadas? Check. These are the fried ones most of us are used to. They are baked and delicious. Panini sandwiches that were absolutely delicious. Check. I only had the pecan honeybun, which was delicious, but the other items looks just as good. Will be back here next time.

My wife and I fell in love with this place during our latest stay. Fantastic food and baked goods too many to choose! Ate here four times in three days! Will definitely return if we come back! Absolute must visit when in the area. You cannot go wrong! Great service and selection.

I came in for breakfast one morning and was just satisfied. We really wanted espresso but the machine was broken, but the drip coffee was pretty good. The pastries were okay as well; it would have gotten a better rating if the espresso machine was working!

AMAZING little french bakery in the middle of this Island. Does not look like much from the outside but great bakery! Got a bagel and coffee every morning and they make them fresh and it was delicious! They have all kinds of yummy desserts(the coconut macaroons to die for) and several lunch options! They have a nice wine selection and they have flavored water the Rosemary something or other is great!

What a great place to have coffee, read, chat, or just sit and think! Lovely environment and delicious food, this bakery is a highlight of the Village. If you are over corporate Starbucks or the frantic lack of service at Palm Coast, walk just slightly further for a much better experience! My new favorite morning spot in SSI!

This is a great place! It doesn’t look like much from the outside(in fact it looks like a gas station from the outside) but inside it is a fantastic bakery and café. They have a lot of sweets and dessert pastries and treats, but also some very good sandwiches and empanadas. The lamb empanadas have rosemary in them and are golden and flaky and wonderful. The alfajores cookies are addictive. Good coffee too. Definitely a must visit on St Simons.

We were looking for a quick lunch after the beach and stumbled upon Del Sur by accident. We left with three baguettes and a box of savory pastries. We all loved them and can’t wait to go back and try the desserts. The employees we friendly and helpful.

Del Sur Bakery recently opened here in the St Simons Island Village where Mo Cow ice cream use to be. Every time we go visit this establishment it is packed. They serve a wide variety of sandwiches and pastries. We love the lamb and rosemary empanadas and the sugar coated donuts. They have tables inside and well as ones outside. I am sure we will be making a lot of return visits in the near future.
