Best coffee in the area. Awesome staff. I had my 30th bday party in the basement sprakeasy and Brent was amazing at derving up cocktails.

One of my favorite spots in town. Favorite night to go is on Sultry Sunday. After 9pm they dim the lights, place scenic candles, and let you choose you own sexy slow jams to listen to

This place is just all around rad! Yes, albeit trendy. It is, however, a spot for anyone! Love the individuality of Archive. Their drinks are crafted and unlike any other place Salem. The beer list unique and different than your run of the mill bar. Overall, Archive is an excellent spot. Always evolving and adding/changing things. Their food menu continues to evolve, which I’m happy with. It’s not your traditional American pub food at all. It is fresh and smaller sized portions, and compliments the variety of this bar/coffee bar. This is the perfect place for a first date, blind date, birthday drink, start to a rowdy night or end to a rowdy night. It may empty your pockets if you stay and try all of their signature cocktails, but well worth their price. Fun, attentive staff. Alcohol is not served until 4pm and runs as a coffee shop prior to this. They do their own roasting on-site and sell their coffee beans to other restaurants(if I remember correctly) I’m told. Definitely try this place. Love the décor and pretty much everything about Archive. After my wedding, my husband and I rented their«Speakeasy» downstairs and hosted a small intimate crew for a very reasonable cost. It was fabulous!

Where Hipsters Came to Die. I may be a fan of Starbucks, but I also know what«real» coffee is in the land of coffee snobbery, especially after being a barista for 13 years. I wanted to like this place so badly. I really, really did. I heard about it and went in to check it out for myself, thinking it would be my new spot. Boy, was I wrong! 1st of all, so many hipsters. Ew. But on the plus side, I guess they’re all in one place so you don’t have to run into their bearded, flannel-clad, pretentious, conforming selves anywhere else: D 2nd of all, no greeting. None. I’m a firm believer in excellent customer service, especially when someone new walks in and looks confused as to where to go. I was said person and didn’t have a freakin’ clue where to go. Apparently right up to the register, despite the fact they have a bar setup and three broristas saw me come in and sit down. After waiting 5 minutes, I got up and walked the TWOFEET to the register where I was finally, half-assedly greeted. Awesome. I know you think you’re too cool for school, little hipster, but what the f*ck? In the middle of my placing my order, some lady in the corner decides to start talking to the barista I was ordering from and he decided to place his attention on her. RUDE. I finally got my Americano, to go(god forbid based on the look I was given), and it tasted like ass once I was finally able to drink it. All I added was some cream, simple syrup, and cinnamon powder. It was horrible. Super acidity, dead, pulled-too-fast shots. No. no. No. NONOPE. Clearly, their focus has been on the look of everything versus the quality. What a shame.

Trendy and very lovely place! I love how Archive brought something very fresh to Salem that we needed! The interior design is fantastic and also the customer experience is really great! I ordered a shaken cappuccino and have been addicted to it ever since. This place is great to go with your friends or to even study. During the day it’s a café, but also after 4 they serve alcohol and food! Must stop by here if you are ever in Salem.

Great coffee bar. We tried the cappuccino and the café latte; they were exquisite. The ambience is lovely and this is an enchanting spot to hang out in on a rainy day. The service is great and the prices are just right too! There’s xfinity wifi available so I could imagine spending a whole day here working or just chilling out. It has beverages and eats for every time of the day, so there really is no bad time to check Archive out. Although we didn’t try out any of the alcoholic drinks, they seem to have a wide variety of scotch whiskey and other liquor. It’s very tastefully designed and really the perfect place in Salem to kill time.

If you appreciate a good cup of coffee and are in the area, you must stop by Archive. Archive is an absolutely breathtaking café and bar. The group I was traveling with stumbled upon this walking through downtown Salem. Jeff and Caroline were such a pleasure to talk to, and I was blown away by the interior of the café. The décor and beverage presentation were exquisite. I greatly appreciate Archive’s attention to detail. We were all very impressed with their pour over and espresso options, and my friends and I agreed that it was some of the coffee we have had(we work in coffee shops that rotate through Blue Bottle, Four Barrel, Ritual, and other well known roasters)! Between our group, we ordered the pour-over, espresso, drinking chocolate, and shaken cappuccino. All were outstanding, and we ended up buying a bag of Archive’s own roast to bring back home to SF. I will definitely go to Archive again! Thank you again Jeff and Caroline!

Food, cocktails, and beer selection are unique. But the same can be said for many places in Salem. Coffee is sub-par, pours of beer come in 13oz tulips, and food is a snack at best. Meanwhile all of this is priced on the steep end even by Portland standards. Try for yourself if you must, but then do yourself a favor and try somewhere new next time.

Beautiful presentation of an espresso coffee in a glass that allows to smell All the aromas but very very bad acidic coffee choice. I tried both the Colombian and Ethiopian and sadly both were a fail considering I like italian espresso. It was kind of muddy, not well filtered. By the way, you must be crazy to think its normal to spend $ 3 for an espresso!

Traveling through this lovely little area, on the old Main Street area, is a mixology daydream. Feels like the 1800s meets a hipster, looks him over and gives him that much needed approval. The cold steel straw and a fancy orange peel dresses up some fresh squeezed juice. Delicious cappuccino with long metal paddle for scooping up the almond milk whip! Melt in your mouth Vegan donut balls. No hurry. Time is clearly on my side.

Archive knows how to deliver an experience. I’ve found their mixed drinks so much fun– I usually order something off the wall, and have never been disappointed with the drink or the experience. A week or so ago we attempted to eat dinner, due to the new menu they advertised. My flannel shirt drink was great– highlight of that visit. My «dinner» was roasted vegetables with a beet-something. When it is January and I read roasted veggies I think warm, a little burnt flavor, something that just screams winter comfort food. The veggies were in these little tiny slices and they were COLD. Nooooooo! You cannot say Roasted vegetables and serve me a cold dish. I cannot live on good booze alone. We went back on Valentine’s Day for their drinking chocolate, and they are back in my good graces. We ordered espressos to pour the drinking chocolate into, and it was awesome. I mean, not just good, but awesome. Reminded me of the drinking chocolate and churros you get in Barcelona– that good. We also sprung for the gluten-free donuts holes. Yummy. Archive redeems itself again, but not sure about dinner offerings. I do go there with a friend for Chai. Love their chai. Not the usual, no vanilla. I’ve travelled in India a lot and good chai is important to me. Okay, it’s not really authentic, but for Salem, it will do. Now, if they would just offer cannelle with their coffees I would be in heaven. I have the ultimate recipe– just ask.

Favorite coffee shop in Salem, and a good business happy hour option. Exceptional service & great coffee. Love the ambiance and spacious setting for either working alone or in a conversation. A nice perk that there’s fresh vegan + gluten-free donuts from BigWig serving every Friday!

I absolutely love this place. I’ve been here in the morning when they serve coffee, and at night when it turns into a bar. The vibes of both are chill and positive. I love their coffee. Especially the Guatemala. Me and my husband come here for our dates to play board games, and one gentleman new about one of the games we were playing and talked to us about how he liked it as well!(: the point of that last sentence: the staff is friendly, relatable, and personal. I think that’s very essential in a coffee shop. You don’t feel rushed and every barista takes the time to speak to you and also takes their time to make sure that the drink are top quality and delicious. All in all, I will always come here when I want to sit down and relax, whether it’s be day or night. They just have nothing but good vibes all day and night. I also want to try their food eventually! 5 stars for me.

I was very impressed with atmosphere; well thought out modern, minimalist industrial vibe. The area is open, a little on the dim side but probably intentionally so. It sort of seems like a hip bar meets anthropologie :) As far as coffee goes, I had the iced coffee — a fully washed Ethiopian brewed on a FETCO and then chilled served over ice. The coffee was pretty good, not as strong as cold brew but decent; fruity with a little chocolate. The presentation was great. Four large square ice cubes and a metal straw made for mixed drinks. It was a surprising touch to an iced coffee. Customer service was top notch. I spoke with one of the co-owners, Jesse, at length about their offerings before making a decision. He was super knowledgable and you can tell he’s passionate about his business, product, and culture around specialty coffee.

I was SO excited to come here. I met up with a pal here after I heard about it. the design looked gorgeous, location seemed awesome, and the menu looked fancy and fun. we arrived and sat down and our waiter promptly came over as we looked over the menu, ordering coffee as we decided what we would have to eat. He brought us our coffee and then didnt come back for 90 minutes, when we finally got tired of searching for him to come over, asked for our check and walked to Coin Jam for food. I want to mention here that within 5 minutes of being sat down at coin jam, we had water, our drinks ordered and food ordered, and we were eating within 10 more minutes. they were fast and EVERYONE came to check on us at some point. we will be going back there! I had thought that maybe there was a mix up and our servers had gotten switched, but when we asked him who our server was, he looked at us, said«i am!» with this quizzical expression as if it were a silly question. I cant tell you if the food is good: didnt try it. I can tell you the coffee is probably a 3 star coffee. Its good for what it is. the décor is adorable, id totally give the ambiance a 5 star rating. but the experience I had as a whole? yeeeeah, Im going to have to be honest. I would have given it another shot, had i not shared this story with a pal only to hear«That was my experience too!» ill give it a couple months to get their ish together and then ill try again. come on guys, SO much potential.
