Coffee is excellent. Otherwise I don’t recommend breakfast here. The quiche was barely tepid when warmed, the chocolate croissant had minimal chocolate inside. Reminds me of an airport food stand. No wait staff, but the card reader’s second screen suggests tip amounts of 15%, 20%, and 25%. What nerve! Get your coffee here, but go elsewhere to eat.

This shop has very good coffee. I found this place on my way to a starbucks. Coffee taste amazing. The only downfall is the traffic. They have faithful customers and it could get quite busy. Finding parking in the afternoon is also a challenge. Overall it is worth it!!!

A once nice locale. This one seems to have progressively gone down hill over the last few years. It was once a great social point for Salem’s downtown core, it had great service, with polite hard working staff, all of whom were doing great work. Everytime I have gone there in recent, it has however been less, and less so. The staff rarely recognize customers unless you are almost snapping a finger in their faces. The product turn around time can vary from two minutes to ten minutes after your order(depending on who is standing around chatting, or texting instead of working). Due to the utter lack of care for their work, the people there end up turning out a now very poor product, and then argue with you about the product if you do not like it, or were supplied other than what you ordered. An overhaul is in need of this venue.

Such a warm atmosphere, so much more welcoming than Archives down the street. Lots of booths, or a window seat for those inclined to people watching. Whether you’re here for a quick coffee or a nice quiche for lunch, the Beanery is the place for you. Good Allan Bros coffee blends and a yummy chai latte.

Today I went into the Beanery for the first time and had the most delightful experience. I had a fantastic barista named Scott and he was so friendly and personable. I wish more baristas around town were as customer oriented instead of just looking for a tip. Needless to say I will definitely be going back to the Beanery to see that friendly barista.

There is little competition for coffee shops. They’re still pulling the espresso levers and gave a very good selection of well priced foods. There are counters, booths and tables in addition to the best sidewalk seating aside from Brownstown in downtown. The staff are not snoody and will bring your order to you attitude free. I’m not a Starbucks hater, but I do prefer local especially when it’s better.

Not sure why anyone likes this coffee or how this company has made it this far. Almost as bad as Starbuck’s Pike’s Place blend.

Decided to try The Beanery over Starbucks across the street for a change. However now I’m at Starbucks writing about the horrible experience I just had at The Beanery. I had a simple order, a steamer and a breakfast sandwich. Twenty minutes have gone by, and I’m sitting there holding my cold steamer and still waiting for my breakfast sandwich. Orders are being taken, and called out for customers to pick up their food. I finally get up to check and see if they called out my order and I missed it. When I got to the front, the lady behind the register looked at me and told me to sit back down, my order will be done in a few. Really? A few? On top of the twenty minutes I’ve already waited? For a breakfast sandwich? I walked back to the table, and wait another 5 minutes. Still no sandwich, lady is processing other orders and filling them. I go up and request a refund. She giggles and asked why. Really? Do you think your customer service is funny? And she stomps away to grab her manager. I told her manager what was going on, and(referring to the comment about me having to sit down) she had the audacity to tell me that they like to provide a restaurant experience by bringing food out to the tables. Really? Then why has every food order been placed on the counter and called out? Neither one of the ladies left the area behind the counter the entire time I was sitting there. The girl Laila was standing behind the manager smiling and giggling while she was pretending to keep her self busy. Absolutely horrible. She manager gave me my refund, and I left. I will never go back here again.

Well, it’s okay. That’s all I can say. I usually go to the Govenor’s Cup on my lunch break, but being that the Govenor’s Cup was way too crowded for my liking, I resorted for here. Coffee is okay– seems a little watery though. Just got a cup of brewed coffee this time around, and it was a little pricey for black coffee. And being that it was lunch break, got myself the chicken and black bean burrito. I’m not a huge fan of burritos. This one wasn’t anything special– didn’t taste much different than anything I could get frozen. But it was somewhat filling, so I’ll give them that. Salsa they served with it actually wasn’t half bad and I would order that straight up. Guy who served me food didn’t seem too friendly– pretty much just set the food down and walked away wordlessly. And didn’t even hand over a napkin, which I figured was kinda weird. There is free wifi and it’s fairly fast, so it was a good place to get my work done– which definitely works in the place’s favor. Would I make a trip to come here? No. But if I need a quick coffee fix and my usual places aren’t working out, then this isn’t a bad Plan B.

This place has amazing espresso… sometimes. the pastries great but you can count on washing it down with a poorly made drink. They really need to educate their staff and provide a broader drink menu. I ordered a mocha, which is on their menu, and the barista didn’t know how to make it… ummm what? Every time I have gone here I have had an issue ordering and I never order anything special, just straight off the menu. All of that would be forgivable if the staff was remotely nice. The last time I was there the barista would not even make eye contact with me because she was watching her children play at a table and talking to them instead of taking my order. The Nordstrom café is just as good, faster and friendlier

This is easily my favorite place to go in downtown Salem for a cuppa joe or to grab a sandwich for lunch or just to read a book. I really like their coffee. The staff is attentive and friendly. The place is a little on the dull side(It could be more fun in my view). The bakery display when you enter is very visual and everything in there looks great. There is outside seating and bicycle parking which is very convenient. The décor inside is a little old fashioned for my taste but not too much of a concern I have tried several of their sandwiches and they were all fresh and delicious. Pastries were not bad either. This place is a little pricy for Salem though. Overall a great place to kill time or grab lunch. I’ll definitely be coming back here

Great local roster with lots of teas and coffee. These guys are completely independent and do a reasonable job with a large number of service items which certainly is superior to the Starbucks across the street(it’s shameful if you go to Sbucks instead of visiting Allann Bros). The shop is huge, with ample seating. I visited on a Saturday morning pretty early and there were two people working the coffee bar. They did a great job of keeping up with the line. The espresso was pretty good and I also enjoyed a cinnamon roll and a bagel sandwich(I was hungry, alright?!) Would definitely go back if I was in the area again.

Great place. Good coffee. Relaxing. Wifi works. Food is good. Nothing outstanding, nothing negative. Good food, coffee, service and wifi. Meets my needs. Place is busy. People seem to love it.

The food and coffee are good and the price is right. They had a handful of very affordable lunch specials and I was able to get an entrée, a pastry, and a coffee for around 7 dollars. The atmosphere is nice, if slightly noisy at times. The staff seem somewhat disorganized, but I’m being nitpicky. Overall, it is a budget friendly and good quality coffee shop.

I tried this place for the first time today and I thought that the coffee was really good and the baristas were friendly. I would be interested in trying out some food for breakfast or lunch in the future since their food items looked very good. They also have a very nice atmosphere.

I ventured back to The Beanery as part of National Pi Day on March 14. Having loved the panini and chowder last time, I knew I wanted to try the quiche and pie next. The Beanery has about five different types of quiche or frittatas, all but one being vegetarian. So what do you think a meat-loving panda got? Bacon, basil, and tomato frittata! Come on, there’s bacon! Meat crack! The bacon doesn’t overpower everything here. The savory, custard-like texture made it a doubly peaceful moment. Staying consistent with National Pi Day, I also picked up a slice of sugar-free mixed berry pie. It’s about moderation on the sweet stuff anyway. See? I don’t need sugar to be happy! A fairly thick layer of filling here, complete with flaky pie crust. Balanced flavors like doing the Karate Kid crane posture on the top of the pole or the edge of a boat. I got it for takeout, and I wouldn’t be eating it for another couple of hours, but the employees heated up my food anyway. Good to know if you’re dining in; you’ll get a warm, comforting meal. On this visit, I could also get a slight discount off any coffee or tea when getting that mixed berry pie. Allann Brothers Coffee featured an organic coffee from Nicaragua. Curious panda sees shiny object! Must have! The coffee is about medium-high in strength, smooth, with full body. I detected exotic spice influences on the back end, just pleasing flavor. Very good, fellas. Now that I have a coffee maker, I’ll really have to restrain myself from buying every single ground coffee product off the shelf. The Beanery continues to get my stamp of approval! It’s impressing me more and more each time!

This is the best espresso I’ve had in Salem, which really doesn’t say all that much. I really feel bad for the people of Salem, they need a good coffee shop. The first time I came here I ordered a latte and the milk was so hot I couldn’t even touch the cup. When I asked the barista to remake it(burnt milk is gross) she got frustrated with me. I tried to explain how it ruins the drink, but she didn’t entertain me. The second time I came here I ordered a cap, which sadly the person making drinks didn’t even know what it was. She served up a double shot of espresso with no milk and no foam. That’s not a cappuccino. I then proceeded to train her on how to make one. Ya know, 1⁄3 espresso, 1⁄3 milk, and 1⁄3 foam. Pretty sad. Maybe I’m just an annoying customer(probably), but I think if you don’t like espresso or don’t know what good espresso tastes/looks like you probably shouldn’t be a barista. I ordered a pastry, which was really good. The atmosphere is nice with plenty of seating. The wifi is consistent and fast. Bathrooms were clean. Now, if they could just get the drinks right they’d really be on to something.

Went here this past July as an alternative to Dutch Bros.(which is much closer to my brother’s new house(where we were visiting)). Unilocal pointed me the way. The place was quite busy when I went(Sunday morning?). After being acknowledged and greeted in a barely civil manner by the young lady at the counter, I placed my order. I ordered quite the spread(coffee and treats for four), and the bill came out to a pretty high amount. But the baked goods are high quality and the coffee had great reviews, so I didn’t have a problem paying for it. I pay my bill. The counter lady apprently doesn’t like getting money from customers either. I’m a little put off, but coffee and baked goods can cure all manners of sin. I get home(about 15 – 20 minutes away), open my bags of goodies, pass out the coffees and dig in. The baked goods are truly scrumptious – kudos to them. As we are sorting everything out, I realize that I didn’t get one of the items I ordered. I’m generally not too worried about not getting everything I order and I particularly understand if I order a ton of stuff, if something slips through the cracks. So I check my receipt just to make sure I didn’t pay for the item I didn’t get. Lo and behold, there it is(and the baked goods aren’t cheap there). So they give me not at all friendly service, don’t give me everything that I order and then charge me for goodies they neglected to give to me. The only thing that keeps this from two stars is the quality of the coffee and amazing bakery items. Service(both quality and accuracy) were absolute shit.

They have everything. The list as follows: Good lattes. Decent foam, strong shots, good temperature. My wife says it was the best Vanilla Soy latte she has had on our 4,000 mile tour. Very nice interior. Booths, tables and chairs, stools, and outdoor seating. Fast internet. Breakfast and afternoon menu, all food in the case is half off after 8pm. A huge assortment of food… and I mean huge for a coffee shop. One of the best features. High quality, very reasonably priced, and large variety. Examples: Apple pie with cranberry’s and roasted walnuts 5 kinds of quiche, large variety of sandwiches on large varieties of bread. They use the Panini machine heavily. 3 kinds of brownies, 6 different types of sprinkle powder flavoring near the«sugar and cream» bar, 3 kinds of simple syrup, the list is huge and attention to detail is great. Price can’t be beat. $ 2.95 for a chicken quesadilla with roasted chilies, onions, shredded chicken, and peppers, chips, salsa, and sour cream. Are you kidding me? It was great and piping hot! Fresh cinnamon coffee cake and coffee for $ 3.95. Can’t say enough. All staff members smiled.

The Beanery is hands down my favorite«meet for coffee» place in town. Great strong coffee and tasty paninis. The gourmet grilled cheese panini is especially good. Great coffee and service, friendly people and always clean.
