Where can one begin? The pork chop breakfast, with two nice chops is good — however keeping them moist should be a priority. I think the time for these new owners, but well heeled workers can go far. The table tops are 30 years old, worn and look dirty. There needs to be a major deep cleaning done. With very little money the needed use of butter, brand quality preserves, and clean condiment containers could cover much. It’s your chance to stand out, not just stand up. Direct suggestions; work with EZorchards and get your own jam(s). Use Kerrygold Gold butter, in essence brand yourself.

Been coming here for over a decade. They struggled a bit with the recent change of ownership, but have improved dramatically. Staff is friendly, some in training and brand new to the industry, but you get that anywhere. The reason I come here is for the chicken fried steak. I’ve had breakfast all over Oregon and this is the best I’ve had. Holy $=!+… it literally overlays the plate. There’s another place in town that imitates this, but it’s been in this building since the beginning. The flavor and portion size here are why they have a following. The menu is extensive, you can get just about anything. The back dining area and the bar both have great fire places. The bar area is large and quite and comfortable with shared and a separate access. The main dining area is rustic and usually filling up quick. Good thing they have a rear sitting area the same size and a banquet room. I can’t express enough to try the breakfast here. I’m a fan of the whole menu, with the exception of the chili. Pretty sure it’s straight out of the can. Be warned to come early in the weekends as you’ll be sure to wait in line.

Not a good experience. Service was slow every though there were only 4 tables and 3 waitresses. New owner has made Rome changes, but it’s not good.

I’ve been coming to this location for over 15 years and was a raving fan. I have been back a few times under the new ownership. I have never cared for the choice of vegetables and asked if I could substitute something else for the veggies with my meal. I was given a list of things to substitute, one of them being cottage cheese. I agree to cottage cheese and when the bill came, there was a $ 1 upcharge for the substitution. I talked to the waitress about it and she gave no apology but just said that she didn’t know that was one that had an upcharge. I told her that I should have been given the opportunity to say I didn’t want to substitute but there was no offer to take off the $ 1. From the beginning there was an unaccommodating attitude. She was new but she has no customer service skills. I miss the regular servers who make you feel like you are a welcomed guest instead of a bother. The food is very good. Prices went up a little but not too bad.

Great spot for traditional American comfort food. Really good menu and reasonable prices. We have eaten there a few times now since they changed ownership and the staff are all very friendly. Great spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Some of the best tasting fries I have had in a long time. Good place to take the family for a dinner out.

We have eaten here a handful of times and are usually pleased. This last visit was a far cry from pleasant. We ordered our breakfast and found that when a side of gravy was delivered to our table it was put in a visibly dirty dish. When we mentioned it to the waitress and the owner we were told it really wasn’t that big of a deal because it was just parsley and that the dish our food was put in was next to said parsley. Our big issue with this reasoning is that the cook clearly used a soiled dish to put our food in. We expressed our dissatisfaction to the owner and explained that we would not be eating our food(at this point only a bite maybe two had been taken) because we didn’t trust the cleanliness of the rest of our dishes. The owners remedy was to take 10% off of our bill! Are you kidding me? A whole 10% off of food we weren’t going to eat! We paid the bill and left, although we will still be disputing the charge and contacting the health dept.(there is no current inspections since this restaurant has changed hands — this is concerning as well!)

Great restaurant with a fun muscle car theme. Love the pumpkin pie pancakes! Generous portions, down home country cooking– fresh ingredients and the best Bloody Mary in Salem! Service is always fast and friendly.

We have been coming here for years and years and it’s been pretty good. I have to say though the new owners have really stepped it up. Food just seems to be a bit better, and the service is what is making this review a five star.
