4.9 really but only because they have a whipped spread instead of real butter. If you are driving through on 81 this is a great little spot to stop for some home cooked food. We had breakfast and everything we tried was delicious! Sausage gravy, fluffy biscuits, and really fresh eggs! Try the country ham and grits too. I would bet lunch and dinner are just as good. The veggie board had items such as Brussels sprouts, fried apples, and Lima beans!

What a great diner tucked away on a side street in Salem! We had been hoping to try Chip and Jo’s for breakfast but hadn’t been able to as they aren’t open on Sunday. Today we were out in Salem and deciding where to have lunch, we decided on Chip and Jo’s since we hadn’t been yet. We went in around 2 and were the only people in the place to start with. The menu looked great, an added bonus, breakfast all day! So, I ordered an omelet and a pancake. I always try a pancake(if possible) at any diner as I have been in search of the perfect pancake for years. I found the perfect pancake today! My husband had a breakfast combo of all sorts of stuff. He really enjoyed all items but found the homefries and the biscuit especially good. Love that we found this place we will return many times I am sure. The cherry on top was that the place appears to be really clean and the menus were not sticky at all.

This place has been a legit darn good family run restaurant for years now. Great breakfast. Its a local gem with old school friendly service. A favorite of people who work nearby and the local firefighters, ems, and cops are there all the time. I guarantee they know the best places to eat at the best prices.

Western omelette was bangin. Biscuit was a fuzz doughy, but good. Home fries were great.
