Crazy, loud, local fare. Be drinking. This is a great place if you want to hang out a while. Burgers are recommended. I have short grey hair and Shannon the waitress said I look like a a squirrel, thinking I couldn’t hear. Felt validated when the cook told her«I’d like less comments and more serving» A dive bar I will happily return to.

This place is disgusting. Gordon Ramsey or Robert Irvine should pay it a visit. So gross.

Atmosphere was fun. Food was good, its pub grub so don’t expect gastropub, just good burgers etc… Service was friendly & leisurely. So if you are looking for a quick meal, pass. We will definitely be going back

Awesome food and cold beer, just be prepared for your old man neighborhood bar. If I lived in the neighborhood I’d be here every night!

What bad is there to say about Major’s? Fair warning, food service can be slow especially on the weekends and they generally won’t take out of state IDs. But if you can get over that, like most normal people do, this is truly a gem. The drinks are strong and cheap. The food is delicious, they have the best burger and steak tips around. Seriously, the steak tip sandwich with cheese or a cheese burger are to die for. You really can’t beat the prices. If you want to know where the locals go, hit up Major’s.

first time here, saw good reviews… very displeased. No customer service, never checked for refills, food took forever never checked on us. Food was okay, but flavors were way off. Ice tea taste like dish water. Waitresses just on their phones the entire time or talking to kitchen or bar staff… clearly too laid back of an environment for employees. Bathrooms don’t lock, my boyfriend accidentally walked in on someone wouldn’t recommend this place, but it’s prices were okay.

I love dive bars with great food and this is def one of them. Cheap and great is the best way to describe Major’s as the locals call it. So glad it’s on my list of great dive bars to check out before you die. Came here expecting a great experience since I know someone who loves coming here. She was right. Steak tips were amazing. The burgers here are huge. The beers are cheap too. 4 beers, a burger, and steak tip dinner for under $ 40. Cmon man! And the steak tips were amazing. The staff here was awesome. They came over as soon as they saw our glasses were empty. The bartender was singing Peter Frampton and being a bad ass at the same time. And he taught me that cherries cure hiccups. Would I come back? Yes!

Possibly the best burger in New England. Worth stopping in for the food if you are anywhere near the vicinity. Relaxed, casual, atmosphere. Friendly staff, though you may feel a bit out of place if you are not a local.

My first one star review is well deserved. Good things first: The food is delicious! I had grilled chicken and my friend had a burger. Both cooked perfectly, hot, and well-priced. But: 1. They didn’t accept an out-of-state ID for alcohol. At all. So if you have friends from out of town, take them elsewhere. I realize that Massachusetts was one of the first states, but we are no longer a confederation and my Texas ID is just as government-issued and valid as any other. I also had another photo ID and a credit card to verify my identity, but we weren’t able to order any drinks. Bummer for me and for them, as I was ready to spend much more than I did. 2. Our grilled chicken and burger took about an hour to be served. I was out with a friend and wouldn’t have minded this as much if I had a drink while I waited. Even with drinks, though, this would have been excessive. 3. Our server was not apologetic about either of the above things, or very attentive. To be seated, to order, to get refills, to ask about the status of the food, and to pay, we had to find someone else to find her. In the interest of not just complaining, here are some things that would have made my experience better: 1. A better ID policy. I get that you want to avoid fake IDs, but at least accept one or two other forms of ID in addition to the out-of-state driver’s license. 2. A sign or verbal acknowledgement that food would take a long time to come out. I think they had more people than usual in October and a small kitchen, but I didn’t know that until I was already hungry and wishing for chicken after an hour. 3. Fries or something quicker on the house as we were waiting, especially as it became more obvious that we weren’t happy. 4. An apology, camaraderie, or any seeming desire to make our experience better than it was. Really, I could have been appeased! There was not an effort to provide better customer service. Not worth it.

This is a great bar if you are looking for a low-key, relaxed evening. The chicken fingers are legendary. Even the french fries were great, and I’m not a big fried foods eater. I respect a locals-oriented business establishment as much as the next waitress, but this place doesn’t accept out of state IDs. I am 25 and live in Salem but haven’t gone through the trouble of getting a Mass ID. I’d go here more often if I didn’t have to bring every card I own and my lease.

Best burger I’ve had in a long while. Cheap drinks, excellent bar service, locals getting their buzz on. We live in Salem and have been to them all… We will be back here for drinks for food, for service for both for all of it. Local pub worth a trip… if you’re a local.

First time coming here was our third stop on a pub crawl. We were told they had the best steak tips around and they weren’t wrong. Absolutely stupendous. The drinks are in no way watered down and are so affordable. Not to crowded because it’s not on the main downtown strip which is what I like about it. Really a local bar. People come from all the surrounding cities to go to Tavern or Murphy’s. They are overcrowded, overpriced and just too much of a hassle for what they actually have to offer which is rude rushed service and an atmosphere that matches. If your looking for just a nice night out with friends, good food, better drinks without the hassle of a bar trying to act like a club, Major’s is the place. I would rather go here any day then any of those other bars.

My friend recommended this bar. She told me that it was a good place to go for drinks that are GENEROUS on the alcohol and extremely well priced. SHEWASRIGHT! This is a great place to go to get more bang for your buck if you’re ordering mixed drinks. The food was fairly priced and delicious as well, as far as «pub» or «bar» food goes. I got the chilli burger and it was wicked good. The female who waited on us was kind and attentive. This place is hidden really well, I wish I’d found out about it sooner. The only thing that I didn’t care for was hopefully an ISOLATED incident. One girl sitting at the bar was so drunk that as she jumped off her bar stool wearing only what I can assume was a shirt she was unsuccessfully trying to wear as a dress, it pushed up to past her waist, revealing her thong underwear and ass as she stumbled out the door NOTEVENNOTICINGORBOTHERINGTOPULLITDOWNORREADJUST. Not something I wanted to see.

Awesome burger with«the works» called a Club Burger with thick Steak Fries for $ 7. Pitcher of Coors Light for $ 10. Great Thirsty Thursday location for a group of friends. The place cleared out around 11pm, but I’m sure it gets busy on the weekends. The service was great and the food tasty. The tables in the middle are set up as 4 seaters but were tricky to fit 3 plates of food on so that is my only complaint. Otherwise it was a clean, well-run establishment! Also, the mixed drinks were between $ 6 – 7 a piece and VERY strong. One and done for most of my lady friends.

Since this bar is at the end of my street, this is our Cheers. The owner is a really nice guy(he brought me out a Major Magleashe’s shirt for my birthday!). The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy with a number of tables, a few corner booths, keno, some games in the back, and a jukebox. Food is good for bar food– lots of fried yummy stuff. The poppers are fantastic with honey mustard. Burgers are big, cheap, and delish. The beer selection is small, but we are happy that they always have an IPA and the Sam Seasonal on draft. PItchers are super cheap. Mixed drinks come in pint glasses-but beware, they are STRONG. One thing I really like about Magleashe’s is the Seasonal drinks. Pumpkin martinis in october, eggnog at christmas. It’s the perfect way to end your day.
