I have been consigning my high end clothing at Rags to Riches for many years. It has been a couple years since I have cleaned out my closet and brought stuff in, but today I decided I would take some stuff in. I understand the former owner, Kim, is no longer there and the business has a new owner. I called to see if they were accepting clothing today and my call was rudely answered by a woman who I am assuming is the new owner. When asked if they were taking in clothing today, she sighed heavily and said, «Well I suppose., but only if your stuff is really nice. I was hoping to get my books done today. «That kind of poor attitude has forced me to stop consigning with Rags anymore and I am taking my business elsewhere. Somewhere interested in actually doing business with me. And just for the record lady, yes, my stuff IS really nice… this particular pile of clothing I was going to bring in was Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Joes Jeans, Ella Moss, J Crew, and several items from Nordstrom. Don’t bother with this place — go somewhere else. I did! Plus, like other reviewers said, the inside of the store does smell bad!

Well, that was fun! Stopped by Rags to Riches yesterday, thanks to my Unilocal family. R2R is located in an older home with each room(and the bargain basement!) filled with treasures to find. The owner(I forgot her name, sorry) was very nice and provided the right amount of «assistance». You know, not pestering but available if needed. My best find? A Ralph Lauren jacket in beautiful condition, found in the bargain basement for only $ 5! Paid full price of $ 33 for a cool Chico’s denim jacket. The only negative I can think of is that there’s a funky«older home» smell. Not terrible or anything but it’s noticeable. Made me think of my grandma’s house when I was a little monster. I am sure that I will be back. R2R is great!

I was very impressed with Rags to Riches! Her sales make the clothing very affordable and she has a lot to choose from, especially for women. Also the owner is very nice and helpful :)

My favorite consignment store in Salem. The enthusiastic owner is very nice and has a good eye. Whenever I’m uncertain about what to wear with an item, she’ll have good suggestions to make it look fresh and fashionable. While they sometimes have high end luxury labels with fixed prices, other equally fantastic items are usually discounted and very affordable. Who says you have to spend thousands of dollars for a great wardrobe?
