These are not real trainers, they are people who are approached in the gym because they work out«good.» They are just salesman trying to make commission, my one free training session with them was nothing above average, the membership price is ridiculous. It’s $ 180 a month on top of your in-shape membership for one 30 minute session a week and a meal/workout plan. The point of having a personal trainer is not to do it on your own, you’re actually looking for that guidance and motivation from a trainer to see the results you want, you’re better off googling a workout/diet plan than signing up with them.

Custom Built Personal Trainining provides extremely poor customer service. We were pleased with the trainer that we had at the In-Shape Club in Santa Cruz, however the corporate office has a narrowly defined set of criteria for canceling contracts. When my husband was transferred to Portland Oregon we requested a cancellation of contract. To cancel our contract we needed to provide proof of residency, a utilty bill or a driver’s license. As this was an executive transfer, our housing was provided and paid for by the employer so none of the bills were in our name. We provided the lease agreement with our names as well as proof of employment(ironicaly our new employer is well known those who work in the athletic industry). We also offered pay stubs, sale of home etc. None of these documents were sufficient-only a lease in our name or utility bills and/or drivers license. I requested cancellation of contract and refund for unused training sessions beginning the first week of December 2012. Apparently employment contract, pay stubs, or lease agreements with our name on it were not sufficient. We are now cancelled but they will not refund us for the unused sessions(as promised in their contract) since it is more than 90 days. We have been attempting to resolve this for the past 120 days… How short sighted– the impact of their limited thinking will cost far more than the refund. I would discourage anyone from signing on with their program.

Do NOT sign up for training. It’s a total rip off. They will lie to you when you sign up and will not let you make ANY changes. Horrible customer service! Don’t do it!!! You’ll lose a ton of money. Find a trainer you can pay directly. They take more than 50% of what you pay as overhead. They don’t pay staff well!

Custom Built are not«built» at all. They are a bunch of fat people with clip boards. I understand that In — Shape has a contract with these guys, but I cant understand why. They only do half our seasons and cost 900.00 a year. They do not care about the client at all, they only want to sell more sessions.
