This place is just way too cliquish for me. If you are not up in the in crowd then your left sitting alone there not being a paid attention to. They need to have a more welcoming attitude to every customer not just the ones that are there friends or agriculture involved people. While sitting there having a glass of wine they spent most of the time talking to the groups of friends that they were familiar with and didn’t do any teaching or show any interest in any other customers who were there for the first time. If you want to be known like the West Coast cheers then you need to treat everybody like you know their name.

We have gone mostly for the wine tastings, but they are less interesting as time goes by. A tasting last night and for $ 5, we got about ONE Tablespoon of wine. Fortunately, they allowed $ 5 credit on purchases of any wine. Wine bar tends to be pricy. It often seems crowded and noisy. A meeting place for is what I’ve heard. good for them.

Went to Zeph’s last night with my mom and sisters for a glass of wine and some appetizers before a night of Chrismas shopping. It was my first time there since they’ve expanded into the area formerly used by the gift shop. So much roomier! They’ve added tables and a full bar… really a much better use of their space. The chardonnay was lovely, but the appetizers we ordered were amazing! The calamari had a southwestern kick to the sauce which was awesome, and the flatbread pizza with bleu cheese, carmelized onions and pine nuts was heavenly. I will be back! Awesome!

This place is hit or miss. It really depends on the staff working. The food is never bad, but the service can be…

As of July 2012, Zeph’s One Stop has an expanded bar for wine and beer. The views of the Gabilan mountains and the Salinas Valley produce fields adds to the ambiance of this facility. Great selection of local wines by the half glass or full glass for service. A great selection of beer, wine and liquor for purchase and carry out. The restaurant, Portabello’s, offers great food and cheese plates. A great place to see locals, the movers and shakers of the produce and wine industry. Local winemakers/owners are known to hang out there on any given day.

The quiche was amazing! I liked the veggie sides as well! The deli sandwiches were basic, good but nothing that I have to have again.

A great place to grab some booze if you are heading out of town and heading to the 101. Above average selection of wine, solid beer selection and snacks galore. Their customer service is always lovely too!

This place has the best local food but the absolute worst service. I write this as I have been waiting for ½ hour for anyone to recognize my presence. Sad because I frequent this place often. :(

If you are looking for fresh, yummy food in South Salinas then Zeph’s is your place. I have been to Zeph’s a number of times over the years for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I live about 30 minutes away but whenever I am in the area and need a bite to eat, I stop here. I recently became a vegetarian and Zeph’s has some great options. I love the little store next door to the restaurant too. A great place to pick up that perfect gift.

First time and last time I went to this place with my mother. We were not even greeted by the host, who said she was busy and would be right back to take our order. We waited at the cash register. I told the waitress we had never been and if she could help us, which seemed to make her face hurt. I asked about the sandwich in the case and asked to order it, WEWERETOLDWE Couldn’t“T…after asking again thinking maybe she didn’t hear me. I was told that, that sandwich was for a catered order… okay then I would like one exactly like it. I was told again I couldn’t order that one. Ok I’m confused. Can’t I order a friggen sandwich. After finally grabbing the menu and pointing out the type of bread and type of fillings from the a-la-carte section I ordered and paid for the two meals… waiting about 25 mins. I asked for some water while we waited. Again this seemed to make her face hurt. As she ran around seating peolpe and cleaning tables, another girl came to help her out. She continued to tell people to sit down anywhere and she would take their order. Why wasn’t I offered a table, did I throw her off her routine? Finally we got our order, and after looking in the bag, and checking my order I noticed there wasn’t any chicken on the«couldn’t order that sandwich»…so I went to the girl/waitress to ask her about it. She rudely took the container and said to me, «you didn’t tell me you wanted chicken». She walked over to the kitchen and asked the cook to put some chicken. Mind you this is an open kitchen, you can see and HEAR everything. When the sandwich came back, I politely thanked the cook,(in spanish) and started to walk out, when I noticed there were no utensils or napkins in the bag… I walked back over to the kitchen where«the girl» was telling the cook, how rude I was and how she didn’t mess up How it was me who didn’t order the chicken… etc. as I stood there & waited for her to finish and she was told by another employee that I was standing right behind her, she turned around(insert deer in the headlights look here)-I asked politely for a to-go package of silverware and napkins-to which I was directed«over there». I guess manners is something she never learned. She must be related to the owner because if someone like her worked for me she would have been FIRED A LONGTIMEAGO. To bad Zephs, I will not go back even though I hear so many good things about your food, and wine selection!!!

Came here for lunch today — nice selection of sandwiches, and they advertised that their tuna melt featured line caught tuna, which makes tuna a guilt free choice when you have friends who work for the aquarium’s Seafood Watch. The tuna melt came on marble rye. Sandwiches come with a large choice of sides — including all sorts of salads — I picked coleslaw only to find out that there were two sorts of coleslaw and they were completely different types of coleslaw. I went with the one that had peanuts in it. Sandwich and coleslaw were both tasty — place was nice and airy with high ceilings — all good.

Zeph’s is not a restaurant, it’s a wine bar. Nice place to unwind after work with friends, great place to taste new wines without the commitment of a whole bottle.

A quick, but not at all fast food joint. Delicious dishes of pasta salad, quiche, tortellini to name a few are prepared in advance and sandwiches are made to order. The portabello mushroom sandwich with melted cheese was perfect! Warm, and melty. There’s a beautiful outside patio you can eat on with tables and umbrellas. The prices are more than typical fast food places, but cheaper than a local sit down and be waited on restaurant.

I want to give this place 50 stars since I accidentally was referred to this place and it helped end my dreadful 2 day fast food binge. The sandwich makes this place a 5 for sure and the tremendous wine selection makes it a special find. Something like this hiding in Salinas is amazing! The sandwiches were about $ 7.50 and come with a salad of your choice and they have a huge selection of premade pasta/veggie/potato salads. When I pulled up I was very skeptical, as soon as I walked through the front door I was in awe. Thanks for providing me with a legitimate meal in Salinas Zeph’s!
