I stayed here on a road trip a couple years back. During the day it didn’t seem all that exceptional, similar to hundreds of other parks. Campgrounds are divided by the highway, half being against the hillside and half closer to the beach. The beach is fairly large and the lake was nice. There is plenty of open space to get a game of ultimate frisbee or football going. The bathrooms were serviceable. There is a series of trails across the highway which were a good way to spend the day. The real treat here though is the beach at night. After the sun sets and all the campers gather around their fire pits head on down to the beach. Grab a seat on the Adirondack chairs along the beach and just look up. On a clear night you can pretty much see the whole sky at once. It is amazing way to end the day. So in the end I really did enjoy Branbury State Park. There are campsites for parties of all sizes. They are only open Memorial Day to Columbus Day, so book your reservations early.
