It’s National Pizza Day, so my husband had the idea to try this place out. It’s a «no flares» environment, but definitely worth coming just for the pizza. There are booths along two walls and tables in the center. We started with a half order of garlic cheese bread which came with two huge pieces, definitely enough for two. We got a large pizza with pepperoni and jalapeño. It was all delicious! We are pizza fanatics, and this is the best we have had so far in Salt Lake City. Our server was very friendly and offered us a to go pop after our meal. I will definitely return or order carry out in the future.

I’m pretty bummed to be writing this review but I feel it’s my duty to warn my fellow Unilocalers of what happened the other night when my family and I dined at Big Apple Pizzeria. I’ve eaten here for years, like as long as I can remember. Probably as long as they have been open. And I’ve always liked their pizza. No complaints. And as far as the food goes, the other night was no exception. I enjoy the pizza here and their garlic knots are delicious! Better than Estes, by far, if you ask me. But you didn’t so that’s cool but they’re good! We rarely dine-in but we did and now I wish we had gotten takeout, sighhhhhh. HINDSIGHT. Service was excellent, food was great, my kid was happy, the husband paid the bill at the register, and we left. Right? That’s how it goes. WRONG*! We hear the waitress yelling, «SIR, SIR, YOUDIDN’T PAY! SIR, EXCUSEME, YOUNEEDTOPAYYOURBILL!» We were literally out the door before she caught up to us. When she finally did, she was pretty pissed, and in an accusatory tone, told us that we hadn’t paid our bill. I ignored her, I knew we had, it was snowing, I proceeded to put my kid in the car. My husband followed her back inside, the ultimate walk of shame, when every customer in a restaurant thinks you and your FAMILY just effing dined and dashed, like it’s something we do for fun on a Tuesday night. It’s our personal spin on Family Home Evening. YOUKNOW?! So, he gets to the counter and the guy who took his card is on the phone and my husband says to him, «hey, I paid you, remember?» and the waitress proceeds to ask the guy if indeed my husband is telling the truth and the guy SHAKESHISHEAD, NO! Keep in mind this is the brainiac that took his card. Oy. Don’t get it twisted, the restaurant didn’t have the damn Utes football team in there that night. There were a half dozen people that patronized their establishment that very evening. So, the waitress found our receipt, unlocked the cuffs, and let him on his way with little more than a ‘sorry’. I honestly don’t know if I can come back here again. If I’d made an accusation of theft I certainly would have done more than a measly, sorry. But that’s just me. *apologies for random capitalizations

I love their pizza! I love that they’re open on Sundays! Coming home from weekend adventures or after ski days, it’s so easy to just call in an order, pick it up & enjoy. This pizza’s always better than fast food! Don’t forget to try the garlic knots!

Asked them to honor a Living Social deal that expired a week ago. They said they wouldn’t because LS wouldn’t pay them since it was expired. Talked to LS who said the restaurant gets paid the same amount whether they honor the promotional value or the paid value. Apparently Big Apple is willing to lose a customer over $ 8 they would have eaten a week ago anyway, and could care less about customer goodwill. Very lame.

This is a local spot for me I love it here. They have a wonderful lunch special two slices and a drink 5 $. They also have wonderful garlic knots and specialty pizza hard to go wrong

Pretty good pizza. The Italian Sausage was a little disappointing because it looked like small brown pepperoni instead of thicker pieces like I expected. The pepperoni pizza was extremely greasy; enough to make me use a few napkins to absorb the extra grease. The garlic knots were pretty good though. Overall good pizza for the price, but not overly tasty.

I would give them zero stars or negative stars if possible. I ordered a medium greek pizza at 6:27 and didn’t get this to go order until 7:37. It took over an hour. I sat and watched as all the people who ordered after me got their pizza before me. The pizza was not that good, def not worth the wait. The girls working the front were nice, the funk music was good, and I was given a 6 $ off coupon for my next order. The pizza should have been free and they can keep their coupon because I wont be returning.

With a few of the reviews I had high hopes. Maybe it’s not fair expectations, since we just moved from Manhattan but I was pretty unimpressed. Standard, grab and go pizza. They do hand toss their dough but it felt a little crumbly. I just didn’t love it(NY style or not). However, it was decent enough that if I just wanted a quick slice of pizza, I would go back. If you live in the area and need something fast, it’s not a bad option but otherwise there are far better NY style options in SLC(Este Pizza being my top, in nearby Sugarhouse).

I just moved into this neighborhood(look out Millcreek!), and after a long day at work, I wanted pizza and ONLY pizza would do. Naturally, I Google«Pizza + zip code» and up pops Big Apple. The name itself is a bold statement, because New York style pizza is an art form and until tonight, I had not found an artist in Utah that could compare to what I personally look for in my pies. The ingredients were really fresh and the foldability(yes, I made up a word for this) was exactly how it needed to be to satisfy. It was greasy, cheesy and the sauce was seasoned perfectly! I ate two pieces and was full… but, after writing this, I’m gonna eat another one. Thank you Big Apple! You’ve gained a fan and I will be back!

Way too salty. Besides that it was ok. So if you like salty then this is a 4 or 5 star for you.

Pizza is usually great, sometimes too greasy. Sometimes they get the order wrong, but it’s right around the corner so we keep coming back.

The cutest little pizza joint. My first time here and I must say I am impressed, I told the girl up at the front counter that it was my first time here and she was so nice about it she was so patient with me. Don’t let the exterior of the place fool you. The prices and quality of food is so nice! Affordable and delicious!

One of the best places to grab a quick slice of pizza. Our family has been coming to Big Apple Pizzeria for a while, the location is a bit of a drive for us but we always make sure to grab a slice when we are in the area. We love the pizza, the price, the service, and the short wait time. The inside of the pizzeria could use an update but I don’t think anyone really comes here for the beauty of the restaurant. On my most recent visit I ordered the spumoni ice cream after I finished my slices… that might have been the best decision I’ve made all week. Also, if you are lucky you get to see the pizza chef throwing pizza dough in the air. My nephew was in awe.

Ok the pizza is still great. However the wings are terrible. From what I can tell they use pre seasoned frozen chicken. The skin was soft and rubbery. Zero buffalo sauce was added after«cooking». Just do yourself a favor and skip this appetizer.

Very underwhelming. They bill themselves as NY authentic but it’s pretty far from it. Cheap ingredients thrown together really affects the way the food tastes. This place is no better than Pizza Hut. #hardpass

Awesome pizza and their calzones are the best! This is by far one of my favorite places to eat pizza in Utah. The inside is kind of cool with their vintage booths, décor and I even got free garlic knots for checking in on Unilocal. Thanks!

Let me preface this with, I grew up in Brooklyn and I’m REALLY picky about my pizza. The two other pizza places I really enjoy in Utah are Maxwells(well done) and Pie Hole. I was running errands in the area one night, and decided to be drawn in with the allure of Big Apple Pizza. I picked up a 14″ pizza to go. Out of Utah pizza options, this place is pretty close. *Almost* like a NY slice, but not quite. The cheese was great, the sauce almost spot on, but my beef was with the crust. Like many pizza places in Utah, the crust was too sweet, flakey, and thick. The crust on a real NY slice should be the slightest bit salty, flat, and foldable. Not quite the real deal, but I’ll definitely give this place another shot.

Stopped here 11-10-2014 I ordered a 16 inch pepperoni, sausage and Canadian Bacon. Friendly service and helpful. All fresh ingredients, they have very good sausage that is fresh sliced. A decent sauce, and a relatively good amount on the pizza itself, was a little acidic, but good(a little sugar in their recipe would help) but still had good flavor, definitely would and will be back. If you are near there I don’t believe you will be disappointed, looked like they probably had some decent pasta also… They also sell slices…

Philadelphia native this pizza takes the cake(or pie?) for best pizza I’ve had in SLC so far. And not without trial and error at plenty of pizzerias! AWESOME yeasty chewy crust, FLAVORFUL tomato sauce, EXCELLENT blend of cheeses and BIG slices. Also the lunch special of 2 slices and a drink for $ 4.95 is unbeatable. Other places do a similar deal except here the slice doesn’t feel like it’s been sitting since morning in a display case. Instead it comes out hot and melty as if you just took a slice from the whole pie! Thanks Big Apple will definitely be back for more and more and more… and more.
