I accept some responsibility for this experience. I came on a Friday night at 7:00. The place was freakin’ packed. Adjacent Buffalo Wild Wings and Potbelly Sandwich Shop were virtual ghost towns. The line at Cubby’s was out the door and every table was filled. It took literally twenty minutes to get my Mr. Beef Sandwich, and a side of Rosemary Peppered Fries. But given the crowd, there was no legitimate reason to expect my food any sooner. I sat on a bench and watched the staff cope with the onslaught. Five stars for these fine young workers. They were fully staffed and they all were on point. Pleasant and efficient, albeit overwhelmed, this crew deserved compensation. I tipped ten bucks and gave a verbal affirmation before I left. Seriously, I was impressed. But my order was meh. The fries had no discernible rosemary flavor and were cold. The sandwich was generally adequate, and I appreciated the hot au jus that came on the side. But it was way salty, and coming from me, that means too salty for most any taste. Plus, the giardiniera was hardly noticeable. This sandwich paled in comparison to JohnnieBeefs Italian Beef Sandwich, which is true perfection on a bun. Anyway, I’m sure if you went at 3:00 on a weekday, your fries would be hot, and maybe seasoned. But I doubt the sandwich would be much better. I must say, the salads I saw coming out of that bustling kitchen looked pretty awesome. But if you want a classic hot and wet beef sandwich, move your ass to Cottonwood Heights, and hit up Johnniebeefs, perhaps the best casual eatery in the valley.

I’ve only been here a couple times but I always order the tri-tip salad and a water. The flavor combinations are just fab. And it’s the perfect portion. You leave full, not stuffed. Even guys like to order this salad! The service for me has always been good and I really love the aesthetics, especially the cool plumbing in the bathroom.

As a vegetarian, I was skeptical about going to a place that puts«beef» in their web address, but I was very impressed. I got the portobello sandwich and rosemary fries, both of which were really tasty. Also, chipotle fry sauce. Oh man. It was hoppin’ at 12:30, but there was still plenty of seating. The service was really helpful and friendly, a welcome change from the typical burger joint. The décor is modern and clean. They’ve got two TVs that were tuned to the football games, but they’re not overly intrusive in case you’re not into sports. As others have mentioned, the parking in that area isn’t great. I would recommend taking the Sugarhouse streetcar, as it’s a very short walk from the stop. The only reason I’m not giving this five stars is because they don’t have a beer menu. Otherwise it was awesome. It’s is definitely going in my regular rotation. It won’t be an option for the vegan outings, but I’ll bring my omnivore friends here in a heartbeat. Tip: The portions of fries are huge. Consider sharing with a buddy.

After hearing so much about this place I finally decided to give it a try. We came here a Saturday night around 8 pm and this place was super packed. The seating and drinks are self service. So it took us a while to find a seat. Parking was ridiculous too. There was hardly any space available. Now ordering the food you will need to go around a corner where the menu is at and a bunch of pictures of the food on the side. I ordered mr beef(medium and dry with the sauce on the side) and fries with buffalo sauce and blue cheese. The sandwich was alright, but the fries was yummy. My friend got the Rosemary fries and that was super yummy. The service here was a bit off. The cashier person gave us a couple of information totally different from how was could order. I would give this place a second chance sometime in the future.

Really good sandwich place. The absolute winner is Tri Tip Steak Sandwich, with Spicy BBQ sauce and El Caliente. That first bite – oh, what heaven that first bite is. The toasted roll is soft, then you feel the firm tri tip beef, juicy and almost smokey from the slow-grill, resting gently in generous spicy BBQ sauce. Flavors mingling in your mouth. The playful sweet and sour little jalapeño and sport pepper complete the bite. So savory so delightful. Sauce smears the corner of your mouth but you don’t care. It is food nirvana. Right there. The Mr Beef doesn’t give me the same food orgasm. The thinly sliced seasoned beef tastes a tad too strong for me, till I am fully aware that I am eating a cow. Does that make sense? Fortunately, the so-called secret sauce helps a lot to make the bite more bearable. That, and the plate of Buffalo fries with blue cheese.
Since it’s in Sugarhouse, getting a parking spot on Saturday dinner time is tricky. I finally found a spot in the public parking underneath the building, not before going a few laps trying to spot an empty lot like a hawk. I cannot stress this enough but if you park here, you MUST ask for parking validation at the counter after you order your food or else, the parking fee is freakin’ 10 dollars! In this peak hours, getting a table too is hard. You have a bear with some inconsiderate people who just leave their jackets on the nearby empty table, totally oblivious to us who desperately seeking tables. But I notice a lot of tables clear up after 8pm, probably the time for the Sugarhouse crowd to start hitting dessert or coffee places next on their night routine. Another reason why I don’t give a full 5-star experience is because every time people open the front door to come in or leave, you can feel the rush of cold winter wind rushing in, even though you sit pretty deep inside the restaurant. I had to resort to wearing my jacket in the middle of my meal. In a nutshell, very good affordable sandwich, but beware of the crowd on peak weekend nights. And oh. wear layers in winter!

Yay! They’re finally in SLC! It’s a hipster burger and sandwich joint that fits well with the crowd in Sugarhouse. They have some pretty unique offerings like Italian beef and really good crinkle cut crispy sweet potatoes fries. Finally sweet potato fries done right. One thing this location has that the others don’t currently have are shakes, and they’re decent. This one is also not the cluster #@$ that is the Lehi one, but what place isn’t a cluster in Lehi. Things to try: Dragonslayer Burger, Italian Beef, Sweet Potato Fries Crispy, Shakes, and surprisingly, salads.
