Well priced vegan/vegetarian food in large portions with great flavor.

I could live here *sighs* I love their sandwhiches(B5) and the Phở. Ugh. I wish I lived in Salt Lake I’d go there everyday. Great food, great spot, I’ll be going back again soon!

It’s in the inexpensive bracket and the food is actually good! Go in with an open mind to try out yummy things, leave with a full belly and a happy heart :) I tried The Sinner and The Ohh Lala. The pork belly in the sinner is great, but a bit fatty(no surprise there).

So I was super excited to find out that this location exists because it’s like 5 minutes away from my house. Was really needing a pick me up so I came here. Was helped by a very nice cashier. The banh mi was to die for especially with the incredibly hot chili oil.

This place is pretty good. I really like the sinner which is the pork belly sandwich but sometimes it has too much fat so you just get an enormous chunk of only fat in your bite. On the upside the flavors are delicious. I’ve also had the fish rice bowl which was okay. Not something I would crave but I might get it again. I’ve also had the egg sandwich which wasn’t my thing and another pork sandwich which was also just okay and I probably won’t get it again. All in all I think I prefer the sandwiches at oh mai but this place works in a pinch.

I live in Houston. We have lots and lots of Vietnamese places. This was an awesome sandwich. I got the sinner. The pork belly is great. The fish-lime vinaigrette was really good. It has a lot more on the sandwich than I am used to, but that was not a bad thing. The bread was just the way it is supposed to be. They were out of the drink I wanted, but Saturday, downtown, they get a pass. If I lived here I would be a regular.

I crave this place every day. They have redeemed the dry, boring sandwich in my book. And their Phở is also really good too, and I have a tough time finding good Phở in the US. Although I have never been to Vietnam, I have had«authentic» Bahn Mi sandwiches in little Vietnams all over. But this one is way, WAY better. Five stars and two thumbs up!

I had been waiting a long time to try this place and i’m glad I finally got the chance. Mai Bun Mee is probably known for being the sister restaurant to beloved Oh Mai… but the restaurants are quite different. Mai Bun Mee concentrates on a bigger sandwich menu with lots of fun combinations. It’s pretty hard to decide as so many of them sound good. They also have noodle bowls where you can select the noodle type and protein. I saw a couple come out and it looked incredible. I ended up with the Ooh La La. Lemongrass pork(almost everything is pork) with carrots, daikon, cucumber and maybe a couple other things. It was fantastic. Lemongrass wasn’t overpowering and the bread was something i’d eat every day for the rest of my life. My only complaint was the amount of carrots and daikon. They were almost used as a filler since the sandwich doesn’t have a ton of meat.

I love Oh Mai(sister restaurant) and am happy they opened this place as it’s closer to my house. The employee taking our order was super helpful in describing all of the sandwiches and I really enjoyed the fishermans sandwich. So many great flavors! One word of caution is there were some large pieces of jalapeño in it so you may want to ask for them on the side. My friend tried the mango parfait — I had a small bite and while very sweet, is delicious! Will save room for that the next time I go. I love trying new places and only go to a few restaurants more than once, but definitely plan on being back here often. Their prices are on par, their menu is well detailed(including listing GF items and such) and their food is delicious!

I LOVED this place, but sadly I’m too grossed out to go back. The large open trash cans give you a disgusting aromatic punch in the face which lingers throughout the place and I can’t soon forget. I almost always get the ramen with tumeric tofu, last time I ordered this they gave me «soy protein» instead of the«tumeric tofu.». The soy protein was really gross and tasted like rotten fish. When I asked the owner, who served me and took my order to correct my order she argued with me and said that the soy protein was tofu too and that I should just eat it. Rude owner+garbage smells and visuals=2 stars. Probably won’t return.

I give it 5 for multiple reasons Clean Easy parking Friendly service Fresh And super yummy! We tried 3 different Bun Mee and al super good! Tried the basil roll. Awesome different taste. It is not on the menu you just have to ask for it. Tried the mango sticky rice and it was really good. A lot of puréed mango. Wish we good try the sweet potato but they were out. Need to go back to try it

The food here is simple and good value. They make great bun mee sandwiches and have noodle and rice bowls as well as phở. Check the hours before you go as they close reasonably early. I was there for a quick bite about 40 minutes before closing on a weekday and they have already packed up most of the chairs and someone was washing the floors around us which didn’t make for a relaxing meal.

Like so many others I am a big fan of Oh Mai. So, like so many others, I wanted to check out the sister. I just have to say that if you could take to food of Oh Mai with the spacious insides and parking of Mai Bun Mee you’d have a marriage made in heaven. I thought the bun was fine here. I got the B6 The Cow. It was good but it was not as good as the stake sand at Oh Mai. Maybe it is not fair that I compare them. They are different sandwiches. So that being said: this sandwich is a tasty treat.

I have been curious about this place since its opening and I finally had the opportunity to try this spin-off of Oh Mai’s Sandwiches last week. The interior has been greatly updated since its days under the guise of Bangkok Thai with the addition of modern furniture and decorations. It was spacious without feeling empty. My party of three arrived around 1.30 and there were two other small groups in the restaurant. The menu was intriguing with modern updates to traditional Vietnamese sandwiches. I wanted something lighter, so I ordered a vermicelli bowl with the five-spiced chicken. My friends ordered the Five-Spiced sandwich and the Sinner sandwich. My order was ready before my credit card was even done processing, while the sandwiches took maybe five minutes to be ready. The owner was our friendly cashier and chatted with us about how we came upon her restaurant. My noodle bowl was exactly what I wanted: reminiscent of a home-cooked meal. There was a fair ratio of meat to noodle to vegetables. The chicken was well seasoned and well cooked. The sauce was a bit sweeter than my preference but the small kick of heat leveled it out. I only wished that the pickled carrots and daikons were sourer; they were very mild, which indicates short pickling time. My friends almost inhaled their sandwiches. The pork belly in the Sinner sandwich was well cooked and not chewy, although the juices made it a bit messy to consume. The chili aioli of the Five-Spiced sandwich added the perfect amount of kick and tang. All meals were served to be easily converted for carry-out. The restaurant allows the owner to experiment with traditional sandwiches and I’m a fan. The banh mis still maintain the traditional integrity of the sandwich with the crunchy baguette and pickled vegetables; however, there are twists in protein selection and sauce components. There were many choices that were tempting and I will be back during happy hour to try more of the menu.

Sandwiches are as good as Oh Mai, and since those are amazing these are amazing. Glad to see an Oh Mai spin off. Had the pork belly«sinner» sandwich and it is one of the most uniquely delicious sandwiches I’ve ever had. They have a happy hour from 3 – 5 for half off sammies! Will be back soon. Sooooo good.

This is a great spot for some creative Banh mi sandwiches. They put their own twist into traditional dishes and the flavors are awesome. My favorite was the Sinner which was filled with deliciously braised pork belly. I loved the bread and the ratio of all the ingredients was perfect. The Thai tea was too sweet for my liking, but I did enjoy the iced coffee with condensed milk.

Husband and I really love banh mi… really, really love it. So we went out of our way to go try this restaurant during our recent visit to SLC. We left completely underwhelmed. Of course, our expectations were high, and had we both just stuck with The Sinner, this might be a better review. But we decided to try a few different things, so we got an OoLaLa to go along with our Sinner, as well as a bowl of the Meatball Soup. Kid ordered the Five-Spice Chicken kids’ bowl. The Sinner was fantastic. A truly great sandwich, and I wish I had ordered four of those. Because the OoLaLa was the opposite… sickeningly sweet and awful. The Meatball Soup took a long time to come out – after we were done with our sandwiches – and it really wasn’t worth waiting for. It was one of those dishes that smelled better than it tasted. That said, this might still be a four-star review if not for the Kid’s Bowl. Kid is not a picky eater by any stretch, so when she would not eat the chicken I knew something must be off. One bite and I immediately understood… the chicken was not just seasoned with five-spice but smothered in it. The flavors were way to potent for a kids’ meal. Frankly, I didn’t even like it. That dish didn’t get eaten. Overall, the service was indifferent, the food was unspectacular, but that one sandwich was to die for. If I lived nearby I might be ordering one thing off the takeout menu quite often.

I was told that this was part of the Oh Mai restaurant chain and yet this place had a different name too as the Hot Banh in West Valley. The food didn’t disappoint, they had a nice variety of banh mi sandwiches all sounded so awesome. I was only hungry enough for 2 and had to take some of it home for leftovers. The bread was perfect just like Oh Mai, hard on the outside chewy and soft in the middle. The vast array of veggies and meat was an excellent combination. Can’t wait to go back and try other sandwiches.

Maybe you need a sandwich and you need it fast! Come here for your quick Vietnamese fix right on State Street. Prices are reasonable. Of course I ordered the Sinner, which is a pork belly sandwich($ 5.80). I love the bread they use(it would be perfect for a cheese steak BTW). So crispy on the outside and hollowed out in the middle for the perfect bread to filling ratio. Plenty of Sriracha to spice it up as you like. My companion got the lemongrass pork vermicelli bowl($ 7.48). It was very large and filling and the pork was seasoned and delicious. I had to get the mango coconut sticky rice to go for desert later. It was not too sweet and tasty treat for later. The layout of the new restaurant is a bit cold, loud and soulless. You must follow the signs, get in line to look at the board, and then move down to order. Food is brought out to your table lightening quick. A sign said they would be offering chicken Phở for dinner later in the month. They do have other soups on the menu though. They even offer a kids meal, which is nice.

Loved it! Im so glad the owners of Oh Mai expanded on their sandwich side of things. Their menu is great! Lots of options, with the same yummy taste of all their signature meats and veggies. The place is very spacious, and so pretty. They must have taken down a really funky forest to get all the cool wood for their seats and tables, but it makes it look cool. I loved sitting right on the front kinda bar, watching people walk by on state st. This is a great addition to that area. My favorite so far is the the beef and the pork ones. Quick and nice service too. And the best part, way affordable, and they have lots of parking in the back.
