pizza is yummy, yummy, yummy with great staff and atmosphere… patio area is a plus and great beer selection.

I love this place! I am from Denver and loved Mellow Mushroom. I was so excited when they came to Utah. I tried to Holy Shitake Pie at the Sugarhouse location and it was amazing! Best pizza!

5 stars just for Holy Shiitake Pie! The eating experience is further enhanced by the open kitchen — where you get to watch how the pizza bases are being made. Really good service. The place tends to get very crowded. Lots of free street parking available near this restaurant.

Exceeded my expectations. Mellow Mushroom is a chain and I thought they would only have mediocre food. I was wrong. The specialty pizzas are pretty crafty. We usually get a large pizza with ½ Red Skin Potato(olive oil & garlic base) and ½ Maui Wowie(pesto base). The flavors for each of those go really well together. When you do ½ & ½, they charge you for the price of the most expensive. When we do the above combo for a large, it comes to ~$ 25 with tax. Once we got a medium pizza with ½ Magical Mystery Tour and ½ Red Skin Potato and it came to ~$ 23 with tax. They have a loyalty program which they could do a better job at promoting. Surprisingly, they have some pretty divine cookies sold individually by the registers that are worth trying!

Love this place. Food is excellent, décor is great and staff is wonderful. We love the Holy Shitake pizza. Great service and lots of room for larger parties. Eat in or take out, can’t go wrong!

It was book club time again, and this was the restaurant of the month. We were seated quickly on a Monday night, but kitchen service was slow. Try not to arrive starving here; we were informed it takes thirty minutes for a pizza to cook and be delivered to the table. A few of the ladies opted for pre-dinner snacking with side salads; the Caesar salad looked really nice and I may order that on a future visit. When our meals arrived, we had a few different kinds of pizza as well as a calzone. I wasn’t particularly hungry for pizza this night, but I don’t regret my decision to order a Buffalo Chicken pizza. The crust was soft and doughy, glazed with butter and parmesan cheese. I had the choice between ranch and blue cheese for a dipping sauce and went with blue cheese. The dressing was a bit bland and kind of runny; I might go for ranch next time. As far as ambience goes, I didn’t really explore the interior of the restaurant or make a trip to the restroom. It was a bit louder than I would have liked(book club means we actually do talk about a book, you know), and we had been seated right by a painting night where the leader of their group was using a microphone to speak to them. This was a bit distracting for us. We also got a few desserts and cocktails. The beer menu was plentiful, but I have a weakness for hard ciders. I tried the Granny Smith’s Tart Apple(was not carded for this, I might add…), and it was good but I like my ciders a bit more fizzy. For desserts, we got a cookie sundae. The cookie was fully cooked(I was kind of hoping for more of a half-baked cookie) and served with a scoop of ice cream and whipped cream. The cookies were good, but just not my preference for a cookie dessert. I was super excited to see that there is an «adult» root beer float on the menu; this has to happen next time I go! Our server was friendly enough, but when I got my bill and she ran my card, I noticed it was a different amount on the credit card slip. It took her a while to come back so I could get it corrected. I’m not sure how one of the other ladies’ desserts ended up on my ticket; it most definitely was not on the itemized bill I’d initially been given. The problem was fixed, though. Just be sure to keep an eye on your bill when you get it, in the event this is something that happens here often.

Mellow Mushroom was a fun place to bring the kids. Delicious, crispy whole wheat pizza crust(gluten free available) and tons of varieties of delicious pizzas. A huge selection of beers on tap, both local brews, and many kinds I had never heard of! I plan on returning, because their pizza truly is fantastic. Funky atmosphere, with great service. We ate under a giant wooden mushroom. It was awesome. :) For a family of 5, we ordered whole-wheat parmesan pretzels as an appetizer. It came with their fresh crushed tomato sauce for dipping. Yum. We ordered two large pizzas, and they let us split up the kinds no problem. The waitstaff was great — they were busy, but they were on the ball with refills and whatnot. Very pleased. Will return!

We came for some pizza yesterday and did not know that they served salads, wings, and sandwiches also, which was a pleasant surprise. We ordered half house special and half holy shiitake, and both tasted fresh and awesome! I was not exactly hungry when we got there but I managed to eat plenty. The waiter sat us under the speaker so it was a bit loud throughout our time there. Other than that, we liked it.

Fun menu, decent appetizers and the main staple here is pizza, calzones, and subs. Great beer selection and mostly a full bar but you can’t order drinks until 11:30. Another reason to hate this state.

Mellow mushroom was a good experience but it felt too much like a chain restaurant. I had a pizza that was like a loaded baked potato which was surprisingly delicious. Note that a small will definitely be enough food. Overall, it was good but there was very little to set this apart from a typical pizza hot or dominoes except some eccentric toppings, which by themselves are worth at least one visit.

I went into Mellow Mushroom not really expecting much but I was blown away by the décor, staff, and food here! Such a creative and unique place! I loved the playful/hippie atmosphere and décor. Even their pens are adorable! They all had these glittery mushrooms taped onto them. My friend and I got the spinach and artichoke dip, a large pizza, and the key lime pie for dessert. The dip was creamy and the cheese was still bubbling as the waitress brought it over! You get six pieces of garlic toast with the dip. We got the Thai Dye and Mauie Wowie. The Thai pizza is absolutely divine! The curried chicken makes this dish pop and I love the red peppers in conjunction with the sweet chili sauce. I would eat this pizza every day if I could. I was very excited for the Mauie Wowie but the Canadian bacon overpowered everything else in the pizza. I probably won’t get this one again but it didn’t detract from the dining experience at all! For dessert, we indulged in some key lime pie. The crust had crushed pecans in it which was really great! When it comes to pie, I’m all about the crust. Our waitress was absolutely amazing the entire time and you could tell that she was very experienced! She also knew a lot about the beer selection and came by very frequently to check up on us. Didn’t have a single complaint all night! I couldn’t have asked for a more satisfying way to leave Salt Lake City.

Kind of trippy but in a good way! Service was decent and food was good. Best pizza ever — not even close, but good. Just very very saucy and the sauce was very sweet. We had the house special pizza and a cheese pizza. We also had the mushroom soup which was good but had a bit of citrus finish. Beer was really good. We tried a few kinds and liked each of them. Would go back — in a few months…

I’ve been here a couple times now and I’ve always been pleased with the pizzas I’ve ordered. I really like their marinara sauce and how they give you a TON of toppings. I have ordered the garlic bread as well and it wasn’t totally worth it, but the pizza is great!

As I walked down Sugarhouse, I came upon what looked like a really cool bar, and thought«I wonder what this place is?» Low and behold it was where I was headed! Inside the lighting and atmosphere are really cool — warm and inviting and it has a «cool» vibe. I met up with 6 other friends to talk about our trip coming up, and I was glad they put us in the bar area. It seemed that the other area(to the left when you walk in) was where they put kids and families and it seemed louder. We needed to be able to talk without shouting. We arrived at 7pm on Thursday night and were seating right away. We had a nice server, but it did seem to take awhile for our order to come out. However, she did check on us frequently and you can’t except fast service with 7 people. I love pesto, so I ordered a small KOSMICKARMA (Red sauce base with feta and mozzarella cheeses, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and Roma tomatoes with a pesto swirl). It was really tasty, and I loved the crust. My friends all ordered something different but were all pleased with what they got. I like that they have a decent beer menu too. It seemed a little overpriced. For my small, 10 inch pizza it was $ 13. I can go to Pizza Hut and get a large for that price. However, the quality is not as good. I would probably go back, but not as an every day place just because its pricey. It would be a fun, casual place for a date or to take the family.

The food is great. The location is good but the parking isn’t ideal. We did have a long wait for our food and when it did come they got a few of the orders wrong. That was a bit disappointing. I’ve found that their to go is good in the past but again you run into the parking issue. My wife loves this place so we’ll likely be back but it wouldnt be my first choice.

Not often I give 5 stars, but this place deserves it. We ate there two nights ago with my extended family and we ordered appetizers and pizza. It also isn’t often that every single thing that we order is delicious, but that was the case. My favorite thing I’ve had there so far(I’ve been twice now) is the muffaletta bread. Just delicious and crazy amazing. I can’t wait to eat there again and again. My family loved it and we will be going back.

Giant mushroom city! This was the first time I’ve dined in at Mellow Mushroom. I was excited to finally sit under one of their many giant mushrooms and enjoy the atmosphere… but I’ve gotta say… the experience of picking up a pizza to enjoy at home while board-gaming or Netflixing is probably more fun. The first part of our services was very lack luster. When we walked in, we were somewhat greeted by the hostess. Once hearing how many we’d have in our party, another hostess brought us to our table without a word, dropped the menus on the table and muttered something like«Enjoy». We wrote this off as her being in a bad mood. But it continued with the first waitress we were set with. She seemed all too put out to be serving us. But, we only saw her once. The second waiter that was assigned to our table was awesome, but slightly preoccupied. However, he totally made up for the start of our pizza evening. Though this trip to Mellow Mushroom had been planned for a week, I hadn’t psyched myself up enough to be in the mood for a ton of cheese(I mean what?! Who says that?!). I wanted a ton of veggies, so I opted to do a sandwich. I was leaning towards the Tempeh hoagie when I saw that they had a limited time Veggie Burger special. Im a total sucker for home made veggie burgers, and thus my decision was made. I asked for a side salad in lieu of the potatoes… and it turns out that was a huge mistake on my part. The«side salad» looked like [and I’m pretty sure WAS] a fresh-out-of-the-down-the-block-Smith’s-Grocery-Store-Spring-Mix-Bag. I’ve never had such a boring salad in my history of eating in Salt Lake. Lesson number 1 from Mellow Mushroom = the salad is not worth it. Always go for the pizza. Or stick with any side other than salad. End of list. The pizzas they have here are so freaking unique, and each is just as good as the last. I absolutely love the Mega-Veggie [every veggie imaginable, plus tofu], and the Holy Shitake Pie [all the world’s mushrooms, caramelized onions, aioli, truffle oil]. Please take in, and consider the last pizza I mentioned. I am not a fan of mushrooms… like, at all. I will usually pick and prod around them, but every once in a while a pizza comes around that’s packed with mushrooms, and I devour it in it’s entirety. In comes the Holy Shitake Pie. Their pizzas do get pricey, however. You can easily leave spending much more than you thought you would — but do the good thing, and split the cost with a friend or two. Friends love pizza. Pizza loves you. Everyone is happy in the end. And an added tip: they are just fine doing two different types of pizzas in one — aka, you could easily get half Mega Veggie and half Holy Shitake Pie [a combination, I very much enjoy]. Now that the company has made its way to SLC, the pizza here is a must-try, and very different from pizzas you experience throughout the city. Though the veggie burger I had was very enjoyable, I think you’re doing it wrong if you go for anything other than one –or three– of their eclectic pizzas.

Great beer selection and prices. Split a medium pizza which was plenty for two people. Had half buffalo chicken and half Thai. Both were good but the Thai was a new pizza flavor for me! Very good. Had blood orange wings to start which were also yummy. The crust was crispy, not too thick or thin, and had a good flavor.

I am just confused. What is southern style pizza? Did I just order food or some drugs? Am I in the modern version of TGI Fridays? Why are there bicycle wheels on the ceiling? Mediocre food. Lame excuse for soft pretzel appetizer. Antie Annes at the airport does it better. Tasteless pizza. We ordered the holy shiitake. What was that weird cream sauce? Unpalatable salad dressings on mostly iceberg. Pros: Beer was cold. Location is good for kids and the kids menu had a lot of choices. I don’t think I will be in a hurry to come back. Next time I am going to Este.

Salads are decently sized for a starter. Tossed salad was nothing special but the tomatoes and mushrooms were fresh and tasty. Tried two pizzas: Maui Wowie & the Magical Mystery Tour. The Maui Wowie was hands down the better of the two. The combination of the pesto base with the pineapples, jerk chicken, Apple smoked bacon was scrumptious… they throw banana peppers on top to give it just the right amount of heat. F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C! Crust is also amazing! As Arnold Schwarzenegger would say, «I’ll be back!»
