Great little place for brunch! The pork belly blt was a favorite. Don’t overlook the bar bites, fried green tomatoes & braised greens were outstanding! Waffles hit the younger crowds spot as well as adults. Service was phenomenal, we loved Rachel R, she rocked! Thanks SLC for our great last meal at Pig & a jelly jar

The dedication: This review has been a long time coming. I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to give back, Pig, especially after you’ve been so great to me all of these years. Let’s dive in: Ever since Pig and a Jelly Jar opened their doors in their very conveniently placed 9th south location, it has easily become one of my favorite breakfast spots in SLC. I find comfort in stopping in early on a week day morning, enjoying the silence, and sipping on endless mugs of La Barba coffee before getting a start on the day. [This is about the only time of day in which Pig and a Jelly Jar is NOT hip-hop-hopping.] Pig became my go-to relax, eat and study spot on every Thursday morning in which I had an exam later in the day — so I’ve developed a firm emotional attachment to this establishment [though it may be one based purely on stress ;) ]. The employees were always happy to let me stay as long as I wanted while I poured through my anatomy books and lingered on the Wi-Fi. They made a point to keep my coffee mug filled(necessity!), and to make sure I was continually okay. Seriously. The staff at this location is great. I cannot think of a single bad experience I’ve had here with employees — or food for that matter. [Really! And I have stopped in A LOT]. I try to kick the habit every time I come in, but I can’t seem to get away from my #1 favorite dish here: The Mexican Three Egg Scramble [subbing Kale in lieu of the meat]. The jalapeño cream on this dish gets me going in ways nothing else can. This, paired with coffee and the free toast you get when you check in on Unilocal, will keep me full well into the day. I’m almost too full. I do highly suggest, whenever stopping in, to go as early as possible. As soon as it hits 9−10am on weekends, you’re looking at a long wait(though a worthwhile wait!), and a squishy seating arrangement. The location, as lovely as it is, can feel quite small when all tables are filled — which is why the outdoor patio was such a great addition. If you make it in early — especially on week days — chances are, you may have the entire restaurant to yourself for a while. However, if you do have to wait, make sure to grab a mug and fill it up with coffee [right by the door] and enjoy the beautiful spring/summer morning that Utah has to offer. If you are a frequent customer, I suggest signing up to use Belly — a service that Pig and A Jelly Jar is part of. For each stop in, you gain points. Those points can add up to free food, free loot, free etc! Definitely worth it, especially once you have also developed an emotional attachment to this great restaurant. Thanks, Pig! See you soon. Because after a couple of your BJs [A drink with champagne and house jam, jeez people!] I never want to leave.

Serving brunch every day, there’s no reason to miss out on trying this establishment. We had to wait ~45 minutes for a table for two, but we passed the time by walking around the neighborhood and checking out the tea shop next door. On the bright side, the servers are super friendly and outgoing, thanking us for being so patient with the long wait and striking up cordial conversations beyond just taking our orders. Once we placed our order, we still had to wait awhile for our food though, so we grabbed the latest copy of the«slug mag» found by the entrance and flipped through it to pass the time while my girl friend and I were chatting. We ordered the pork belly benedict, and the chicken and waffles(added an egg and bacon at an extra charge). The«benedict» is super delicious but also pretty heavy. The spicy salsa on top really adds a yummy kick to it. It may have been a lot to finish the entire dish by myself, so I was really glad we split our dishes because it was the perfect balance of spicy and sweet. Their coffee is also really good and caffeinated, which was perfect to keep me awake and fight the food coma I would’ve settled into otherwise. I definitely recommend purchasing the $ 10 of $ 5 deal on Unilocal because why not! You can only purchase one per table, but it’s valid any day, and any time. Just make sure to come in on a day when you’re not in a rush because they’re pretty busy and not the speediest of restaurants, but their brunch is worth it. Their menu is broad and diverse, and you can find the brunch basics as well as unique dishes if you like to try new things!

Pig & A Jelly Jar — a Salt lake favorite. I brought my buddy here to quell his appetite for waffles and spice. You get a free toast and jam with your first check-in(ding ding!), and the food selection is pretty much de-lish! Turn your attention to the green-plated dish attached to this review — that is some mild spice that could or could not be detrimental to you not finishing, so be wary. My friend didn’t finish, and gave up less than half way in. Tisk tisk. Yours truly got about 75% of the way, but it was too much to push down. The pink plated waffle dish was what I got next to fill me up before the looming hike before us. What I really want to rant and rave about is the service. OUTSTANDING. Our waiter was charismatic, attentive, funny, and an overall chill guy. He ensured we were always topped off with coffee. Chatted/planned with us for hikes and things to hike(you know, insider stuff), and made the brunch experience very pleasant. Thanks P&J! I’ll be back!

Pig & A Jelly Jar is, hands down, the best brunch spot I’ve been to in Utah. Seriously, everything I had was good. I redeemed my check-in offer for toast and jelly, which was the best decision I could have made. I had sourdough bread, which came out perfectly toasted with just the right amount of butter. As good as the toast was, the jelly was even better. I loved their blueberry lavender jelly! It was sweet, but light, and made with real fruit. It would be a travesty to go to Pig & A Jelly Jar and not try their blueberry lavender jelly. As for my entrée… I ordered the B&B scramble, which was DELICIOUS! If you’re an omnivore and don’t mind indulging, then I highly recommend ordering this dish. It was the perfect amount, just rich enough, loaded with bacon, and perfectly cheesy. Even though I’m describing a rather fattening dish, it wasn’t too heavy. If you’re in the mood for eggs, definitely get the B&B. Beware, the lunch menu is equally enticing. Go for either breakfast or lunch. If you go for brunch, you’ll likely get overwhelmed by all of the amazing options. Also, go with Jake if you get to choose your waiter. He made my friends and I laugh countless times.

Love their waffles and chicken! The waffles are light and fluffy and delicious! I have also tried few of their other dishes including their pork belly benedict and it was delicious! They have home made jam. My favorite is the strawberry coconut. Use the free toast and jam Unilocal coupon and do try! There is a long wait 1hr+ over the weekends so don’t go there hungry!

GOHEREONTHURSDAYANDGET $ 5CHICKENANDWAFFLES. YOU’REWELCOME. But seriously. This is one of my FAVORITE spots in all of SLC. They hit a home run on every level. Breakfast/brunch. Great. Lunch. Great. Dinner. Great. In true diner fashion, they serve their breakfast all day long – so that’s a bonus. I haven’t had anything on the menu that wasn’t stellar, but their chicken and waffles outshines them all. You can add an egg and/or bacon to it, but it’s great on its own. I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes even on a super-crowded Saturday afternoon. Service is always super friendly and relatively fast.

A pretty great place. I have come here for brunch and dinner once. The buffalo chicken sliders were A+. They even make their own little pickles I think? Another time that I came for brunch I had a great hash(I think). Very flavorful and well prepared. I would recommend. The atmosphere is casual and laid back. The service was attentive, however. The place can be very busy and I believe is wait only so come a little early to beat any rushes. Our wait was about 20 minutes so not bad!

My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch, and were seated right away. We got the fried green tomatoes, ham hash, and eggs benedict. The fried green tomatoes were perfectly fried and crispy. They came with siracha aioli, which paired really nicely with the tomatoes. The only downside was that the dip containers were too narrow for the tomatoes, leading to the classic milk glass and cookie problem. The eggs benedict was excellent – probably my favorite eggs benedict to date. The spicy creole sauce really complimented the pork: it was smoky, spicy, and peppery. My spice tolerance is pretty low, and I thought it had just the right amount of spice. I could eat the sauce plain – it was that good! My boyfriend got the ham hash, which he thought was«tasty» and«had a good egg on top.» Based on this commentary, it’s probably pretty good? As for service, it was quick and friendly. Our server was cheery and quick to refill our water. Based on this trip, I’d give a 5⁄5!

Love this place! Very small but super fun décor and staff is great, came in a group of 5 so seating took a few minutes but it was a Saturday morning so that’s to be expected. The homemade-jam’s are phenomenal. Great way to sweeten your breakfast. Loved the mimosa’s and there were lots of other fun drink items to pair with breakfast. Everything on the menu looked delicious, and everyone at my table was more than happy with what they got. Obviously very fresh too which makes it even better. Next time I’m in salt lake I will definitely be back, but for now, if you are reading this, you should already be in your car on your way there!!!

The snooze of SLC? First, let me say that despite the crowds on a Sunday, we were able to get a seat only after a 15 minute wait. However, the later in the morning you go, the longer the lines will. Staff was very friendly and attentive though. As far as the food, I ended up ordering the chicken biscuits which included 3 small sliders, with home fries, and side of gravy. The chicken was extra crispy and very flavorful with a honey mustard like sauce, on homemade biscuits. Home fries were cooked with sweet peppers and were perfectly seasoned. The gravy just sealed it for me. I don’t want to know the calories of this dish, but it made my weekend. Also, the jelly(grape and lavender) was probably the best jelly I had ever tasted. Be sure to use your Unilocal check in coupon to get a side of the toast a jelly. This place certainly deserves several awards.

We had an awesone brunch at Pig & A Jelly Jar. First off, service here was just fantastic because we were greeted with a warm hello right as soon as we walked into their front door. Second, their homemade jams… oh my. .and they gave us a sampler too… to choose from! My favorite would have to be the Strawberry Coconut jam. It was a nice compliment that goes well with my chicken waffles which by the way, my chicken was cooked to perfection… crunchy and moist! I also enjoyed their fruity teas. Thirdly, I really love their laid back casual feel, yet very family and super friendly vibe. I’d definitely come back here again when I visit my family in SLC. Thank you so much Pig & A Jelly Jar for a fantastic time, and for your awesome hospitality. PS — their homemade jams are available for purchase, so I suggest you take some home with you before going home. They are so delicious! Until then, Cheers! ~ :p

Fantastic place for breakfast/brunch. Thanks Unilocalers for finding this and sharing the word. The beignets were wonderful! Even if you order another dish, make sure to get these to share as a starter. They are a bit heavier than New Orleans-style beignets, but very nice flavor, and the jam that comes with the order is to die for! I had the biscuits with gravy and sausage, one of my favorites! Two huge biscuits smothered in a home-made white gravy with crumbled sausage, and topped with two eggs over easy(you have to ask for the eggs). Fantastic! These guys could give some southern diners a run for their money! My wife had the creole pork belly eggs benedict, a riff on the classic with slow-braised pork belly in place of the Canadian bacon, sour dough rounds in place of the English muffins, and a spicy creole sauce in place of the Hollandaise, plus wilted kale for good measure. Totally different, but totally delicious! The service was great too, very attentive and very nice, despite how busy it was(a line out the door). My only complaint is, as others have mentioned, it’s too small so the wait can be a while for a table. But hey, that’s a good sign. Guys, get a bigger place!

My wife found this place while searching for places to eat in Salt Lake and we were glad we stopped by. This is the first time I had been to SLC in years and our family of 6 definately didn’t fit the«hipster» vibe we discovered in most places we visited. We were treated great at Pig & a Jelly Jar. The space is small but it wasn’t too crowded. Luckily the kids were on their best behavior(mostly) so we didn’t scare off any patrons. Lacey G served us quickly and efficiently. As stated, 4 kids can make our group challenging for a server, but we were well taken care of. I had the biscuits & gravy all the way which was great! The wife had chicken and waffles and was not disappointed. As usual, I was so excited to eat I was unable to take a picture of my grub, but it was great. I wasn’t very impressed with the jelly’s that we got as a sampler. I prefer sweet and they were a little on the spicy side. Gum drop spicy, not hot sauce spicy. All of the food was fresh and tasted wonderful. It wasn’t too busy when we went by, but it was about 3:00pm so after the lunch rush. Parking wasn’t great, but again it wasn’t busy so it wasn’t a problem. All in all we had a great experience at Pig & a Jelly Jar. We will go back if we are in town.

Chicken n Waffles, what more do you need? The waffle was substantial enough to support the huge serving of perfectly cooked and seasoned chicken. The chicken had a good crunch on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. Would love to go back and try other items on their menu but let’s be real– chicken n waffles is where it’s at.

Few updates on new dishes we’ve tried: Love the Chicken and Waffles, so far it’s our favorite dish. We like to get it with an extra side of fried chicken! Unilocalers have suggested that I try it with egg and bacon(mmm). The chicken biscuits are tasty especially with a side of gravy. The Pork Belly BLT is pretty awesome. The tartness from the fried green tomato is a nice touch to the fattiness of the pork belly. My least favorite dish is the Creole Pork Belly Benedict. I guess when I read the word«creole» I expected a strong, spicy, tomato flavor which I obviously did not get. Definitely a great place to start your day!

This was the last meal I had in Salt Lake City before heading home and I was stoked on it. Checked in on Unilocal for a free toast and jam, which felt fitting since they seem to be all about jelly. Jellies were good and came with sour dough or rye toast. Sour dough made the cut and it was toasted just right. We got the Chicken and Biscuits which were awesome. The smokey mustard was awesome and was a great fit for the peppers and fried chicken. Only thing I thought could’ve been better was the biscuit itself was a bit dry/crunchy. It wasn’t bad but just could’ve been softer. But overall, awesome plate, you get 2 biscuit sandwiches and it comes with a side of spicy potatoes which are awesome. You get at least 1 full potato worth too. Tip: gravy on the side is $ 2, not free as you’d think it might be. Granted you get a full cup/bowl of it but it wasn’t necessary to complete the dish. The mustard alone is plenty of flavor. Also grabbed the Creole Pork Belly Benedict($ 12). It doesn’t look like much in the photo since the sauce just covers it. The sauce was a little more tomato based than I thought it’d be and not so spicy(the potatoes on the side have more spice) but what’s underneath definitely balanced it out. The kale was cooked right and wasn’t bitter or soggy. The eggs were poached perfectly so they ran nicely over the beans and super tender pork. Sour dough again was toasted just right and laid underneath it all. The pork belly was textured and tasted more like pulled pork to me. I didn’t really see much fat or visuals that made it look like traditional pork belly but it tasted great so I didn’t care. Definitely a cool place with a nice vibe and good food. Outdoor seating is always a plus too.

I was torn between three and four stars on this one and let me explain why. While the food is definitely better than an IHOP or a Dennys, it wasn’t exactly amazing either. It seems like the dishes are hit or miss. Most people seem to adore the chicken ‘n waffles, but some of their other dishes just seem to fall short of that level of expectation. Unfortunately, I didn’t try the chicken ‘n waffles. We had the creole pork belly benedict(which was terribly disappointing) and the biscuits and sausage gravy(which was slightly better). However, at the same time, the people at tables near us were raving about their chicken ‘n waffles. My mouth was watering as I watched them eat their crispy chicken with hot syrup drizzled over it. So, I WANTED to love their food, mine just was meh. Also, the service(while very friendly) was SOOOSLOOOOOOW. Do not go here unless you have an afternoon to burn. From being seated to getting our credit card back, we spent just over two and a half hours there. I’m sorry, biscuits and gravy and an creole pork belly benedict shouldn’t take over an hour, much less over two hours. Our server would disappear for over 30 minutes at a time. We didn’t get water and our drink orders till we’d been seated for nearly 45 minutes. When I give someone my credit card, I really want it returned in a timely manner. When my card disappears for nearly fifteen minutes, I start to worry. I want to like this place, really! I do! I want to go back and try their chicken ‘n waffles and hopefully give them a better review… I just dunno when I’ll have the time.
