Sáme Sushi

This place is a little hidden which is good because we didn’t have to wait for a table. Our server was great and she was very attentive. Most of the rolls seem to be repetitive. But the ones that we did try were great. Very affordable but not really your traditional sushi atmosphere either.

Super yummy! Their high roller roll and sashimi cocktail were super yummy. Good vibes in there and quick service. Love late open hours.

We had to make a last minute reservation for 9 girls for a birthday dinner and they were easy to accommodate us! The service was very friendly and quick. They were out of one of the drinks my friend wanted to order so she opted for sake. I ordered the the small Sashimi and it comes with 10 pieces. They were good-​sized pieces and I was thoroughly satisfied with the quality of fish that was used. My friend got the High Roller roll and said it was delicious! This was a great sushi spot and I will definitely return here!

This place is amazing! Has a really great atmosphere and great energy. The service was incredible and we were treated so well by our server. We got a few different sushi rolls, including the Same Roll, and it was delicious. Also ordered the Yakisoba Chicken noodles and that was way good too. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant every time I’m in Salt Lake. If you are ever in Salt Lake you have to try this place! I loved it and highly recommend.

Our company bought out the whole place for a night and we had great experience. The waitress were friendly and the food was great. I would def come back again and recommend this cute little sushi place to my friends.

Went here because it was 1:30 am and was hungry. Didn’t want something too heavy so figured for sushi. Sushi was good, not great. but was awesome for being so late.

Vanessa made the whole experience amazing! Seduction (not on the menu), ovo Cosmo and the tokyo drift were so fresh, simple and not smothered in complicated sauces. The martini sashimi is a must. We were pleasantly surprised by the chef’s super fresh sashimi choices. I’ve been around and this is the first time I’ve really enjoyed everything! The open kitchen, quick service, quality food and location were worth it!

As people say today, «THIS JUST HAPPENED!» What a find gem in Salt Lake. Sat down at the bar and Fernando greeted us and was ready to do his magic. He told his speciality is «Mexico meets Japan» and we said, «Well then make us something». Next thing we knew a roll was in front of us and boy were we surprised. The flavors of the hot and sweet was amazing and the great food just kept coming until we couldn’t eat anymore.
Tried as many of the unique rolls as possible and they just kept getting better. No complaints here and looking forward to coming back in July! Get ready Fernando!

Pros: Service was great. Good atmosphere inside.
Cons: Sashimi was not fresh at all. Quality of food was average if anything.
Summary: because we Iove sushi and sashimi we won’t be back anytime soon :(

I really like this place. From the friendly owners to their lovely and friendly staff. They are never busy when I’m in town for business and surprised at this.
Appetizer: Agedashi Tofu (I could eat a huge bowl of this for dinner)
Sushi: Salmon, tuna, Hamachi and Escolar (this was spot on the best I’ve ever had)

First off let me say that the sushi was great and came out very quickly. We immediately got sat but then it took 10 mins for the hostess to bring us waters and never was told when our server would be with us. The food came out very quickly and the server was nice but over all I am disappointed in the service. Especially since there were 7 tables full total. Since it is Valentine’s Day you would think that there would be more staff on. Also took atleast 10+ minutes to get our bill and to run it.

For some reason, I always have an urge to eat sushi when I am in SLC. Maybe because I expect northern Utah to have much more interesting sushi cuisines. But, I didn’t want to spend too much so based on reviews we decided to come here for dinner. Service was extremely slow. It was a Saturday evening and there were 2 waiters, 1 busy chef (which had increased to 3 by the time we left), and 7 – 8 busy tables. We were quickly seated then waited 10 minutes for water/​menu. Another 10 minutes to get our order in, and about 20 minutes to get our food. It literally took us about an hour to sit, order, eat, and pay for our food. The food on the other hand wasn’t phenomenal but it was good. The rolls are smaller and even as a 120 lady I’m pretty sure I could have easily eaten 3 rolls. I don’t completely agree with other reviewers that all the sushi rolls taste the same. I always try to get a variety of Sushi and for this restaurant I would definitely recommend the Jupiter and Vegas.
I would give this restaurant a solid 3.5 stars. The service can be extremely slow but food is good. I’m not sure I would eat specifically sushi here again but it’s on my «maybe“sushi list.

Went here because of the good reviews and a recommendation from a friend. I was greatly disappointed. We got four different rolls to share and they all tasted exactly the same. None of them had a distinct flavor. I won’t be going back

Been here a few times over the past year and it’s still a quality value for delicious sushi. Some basic rolls are 2 for $ 8 and some are 2 for $ 5 — both options come with choice of miso soup or salad included in the price (both are tasty, and the salad is quality greens). I think the price should be one $, not two $$. I come here when I want great sushi without having to pay typical sushi prices. Come try it out! Let’s keep this place in business. We need places like this in SLC!

My first experience here a few months ago wasn’t so great, so I hadn’t been back for a while even though it’s just around the corner. But when I ducked in for an impromptu lunch on a rainy day yesterday, I was so surprised — what excellent meal I had! Very fresh fish, innovative roll recipes, good service, nice beer selection, can’t beat the prices. I asked and was told there’s a new chef. I know I’m going to be back all the time!

This place is awesome. Fernando, the sushi chef does a fabulous job. Check it out for yourself you won’t be disappointed.

We did carry out. The food was tasty – probably 3.5 stars considering the convenient location. Unfortunately, the menu on their website gives the wrong prices. The $ 6 2 rolls+ Miso is now $ 8. The $ 5.95 rolls are now $ 6.95. I’m probably OK with those prices *IF* they list them correctly. I see this frequently with non-​chain restaurants and I think it’s dishonest. If you up your prices you should update your online menu because people ordering from that menu aren’t going to double-​check the price of each item they order – they’re going to trust that your website tells the truth.
I’ll probably go back once they update their menu, but not until.

Went on a Wednesday at 3:00. It was understandably dead. In fact we were the only ones there. Cool, we’re gonna get great service. Nah. There wasn’t ANY napkin/​chopstick set ups on our table. My wife jacked some from a nearby table. Caterpillar roll had virtually NO eel in it. Half way through our experience the waitress was seen walking out the door with her coat on, never to be seen again. The cook finished her duties, poorly. The restroom had no TP, and was messy. All the good reviews attracted me there. Maybe an off day or the place has shit the bed. Who knows.

Great service, comfortable atmosphere, and the rolls were on point. Have only been here once but as a new SLC resident I am happy I’ve found a great bar against which to judge the rest of sushi downtown. Will definitely be back!

This is my favorite sushi place. we got a free appetizer every time we were here. The owner is so nice. Love this place so much. I wonder if they do catering?

It was one of those late nights when my mind was clouded with hunger and I made a emotional decision. I was desperately craving sushi and this restaurant was the only one open and in SLC. Well the service was good, the waitress was fast, always refilled out waters, and checked up on us. The food on the other hand was mediocre. The fish on the sushi combination did not taste «fresh.» The Jupiter roll had so much eel sauce and this and that I wasn’t even sure it was sushi anymore. The Prawn Heaven had too much batter and heavy mayo-​ish sauce.
The food was 2.5 stars, but with the good service I think this place can get a 3.

I like this place. It’s a trendy spot that’s a little tucked away, but maybe that’s a good thing, since there’s never a wait to get a table. It’s a great spot for a post event meal at the energy solutions arena or pioneer park. Service was a little bit slower during my more recent visit, but not that big of a deal. I like the quality of the fish and the cuts of sashimi are more generous than other sushi restaurants. Prices are affordable.

Hmmm… This place was rather uninspired. Perhaps it was just an off night, but I’ve most definitely had better sushi in this town. I was surprised, as most of the other reviews indicated that this place was quite good. Perhaps for the price, this is true.
Everything I ordered was mediocre. Nothing tasted particularly fresh or was very memorable. My sushi roll fell apart, which was disappointing, and everything else about the meal was quite average.
If you’re really looking for outstanding sushi, Takashi is easily a better choice. If price is your primary concern, Same is your place.
