Sequel

I was very nervous about this appointment. Being new to SLC, and having a loyal connection to my former hair stylist, coming into Sequel cold was scary. My long hair, growing for eight months, was not working out and the texture was driving me nuts. My thick curls were gone, lost to advancing age like many other things. There is nothing cool about getting older. It was time to get my hair cut off.
Danielle was a very young woman from California who was admittedly apprehensive about cutting my hair off. Here was this persnickety older dude from NYC asking her to shear off his hair and be good about it. Yikes!
Taking her time, and making sure every cut was as perfect as it can be, Danielle cut off my thinning locks with aplomb. She was exact, in no rush and communicated very well with a guy old enough to be her grandfather, but acting like an 18 year old about to go to Prom. She did a great job on my beard also. My hair looks great and I look ten years younger. (Not a day over 90!)
The salon’s décor is very 21^st century, minimalist in design and affect. Although perfectly nice and accommodating, there is a bit of «fake» generated by the front desk staff. Prices reflect this affect. While not cheap, I will return soon for my hair cutting with Danielle.

Gabby did my hair for my wedding, and it was amazing! I live out of state, so I came to Utah a month in advance for a trial so that we could experiment and find the right style for the big day. She was receptive to my wishes, and came up with two different takes. On the day of the wedding, she did the makeup and hair for me and my maid of honor, and we couldn’t have been happier. I’m so impressed by her skills! Thank you, Gabby, for doing such a wonderful job!

I have been going to see Gabby at Sequel Salon for over 10 years. I cannot recommend her enough. I have never walked away feeling like my cut, color and style was anything but absolutely fabulous. She takes the time to talk to you about your personality and what will work best for your hair type and your lifestyle. She is so knowledgeable about all the latest hair tends, techniques and products. Sequel now carries the most amazing line of hair products called Oribe and they are an absolute dream to use. They make my hair feel great and helped me cut my styling days from nearly every other day to nearly every four days (time saver, much?!). Gabby always make me feel so awesome when I walk out the door of the salon; I would highly highly recommend her to anyone who needs any hair or special event needs.

I am a natural brunette and some years ago I decided I wanted to color my hair platinum blonde. The blonde damaged my hair so much that I had to stop coloring it, cut it short, and grow out my natural color for over 3 years before it looked healthy again. After a while I became tired of my natural color and decided it was time for a change. Because of my previous experience I was extremely hesitant to let another stylist touch my hair, but I had a friend who’s hair always looked beautiful. I asked who her stylist was, called the salon and scheduled an appointment with Gabby, and loved the way she did my hair so much that I have now been going to Gabby for over 5 years. She is such a perfectionist and knows that the health of my hair is my top priority. She always keeps that in mind and has such an artistic talent when it comes to coloring and styling hair. She is the only stylist I trust and I won’t let anyone else come near me with color and shears. I am constantly receiving compliments on how beautiful and healthy my hair is (its now a few inches above my butt thanks to Gabby working her magic!) and I highly recommend that you book your next appointment with Gabby! She won’t disappoint.

I’m a low-​maintenance girl, but the key to maintaining that vibe is knowing an excellent hair stylist. Gabby at Sequel gave me faith that I could get a good haircut in SLC. She is an artist when it comes to color and I appreciate her perfectionism. Whenever I leave her care, I know that with little effort, I will still keep my appearance on point. All of that and she is a lovely human being too. It’s always a pleasure.

This is a gorgeous building with talented and friendly people inside. I’ve been going to Gabby for over 10 years and I gladly followed her to this place. She’s extremely knowledgeable and strives to make your experience pleasant. She’s a perfectionist and will never let a client walk out with a haircut/​dye job she is not happy with. I always get compliments on my hair and I have Gabby to thank for that. I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else.

Book with Gabby!!! I moved to Utah from L.A. and my hair was in desperate need of some TLC. A good friend recommended Gabby, and I feel so lucky to have connected with her. Not only is she extremely knowledgable about all types of hair — which cut/​color/​treatments will bring out your hair’s best (while at the same time giving you what you want) — she is also truly passionate about her work (continually educating herself on the latest techniques and trends) and so sweet and fun! I can’t recommend her highly enough!!!

I’ve been going to Davi for over a decade and have followed her from 2 other salons. I’ve only used one other stylist here when Davi wasn’t available and she was fabulous too. The receptionists are helpful and friendly and the products are first rate. I love the minimalist design of the place too.

Have you ever had a stranger compliment your hair cut? Have they asked to take your picture because their hair cut was similar but not as cool? Then.. have they asked you to stand still while they took a photo of the ball of your head, and then proceeded to ask you to rotate slowly, so that they could snap pics of all sides?
That happened to me the other day. It was strange but definitely a compliment to the amazing Davi at Sequel. I went in with hair past my shoulders and after what was honestly three different hair cuts in one session, walked out with the perfect «short short messy easy but refined and kinda creative and I don’t have to blow dry it or style it unless I want to and I don’t look like I’m one of the kids if I’m out with my family but for sure not mom hair» hair I’d hoped for.
That’s not even mentioning the mind blowingly rad modern style of the salon itself or the signature snack (which I was grateful for because I had lunch in my purse but hadn’t gotten around to actually eating it and it was a sandwich which would have been difficult to eat gracefully in public) and the cutest little water bottle and the super friendly and attentive front desk staff.
Basically I get my hair cut once a year. Now I’ve committed to an actual style and will have to go back regularly and the thing to know is that I’m fully looking forward to every future visit because Davi and everyone else at Sequel Salon are pretty much my favorite.

The style and openness of the salon is great! I love the location — somewhat downtown, but not so downtown that you have to leave a 15-​minute window to find parking. Great environment, great staff, and great stylists.
I’ve seen a lot of stylists do great things! I’m there twice a month since it has opened… if you got a bad haircut/​color maybe it’s your hair, peaches. They’re amazing stylists, but can only do so much.

I went from a salon I was using for five years to Sequel. I was a little nervous after using the same stylist for several years, but after my hair was finished, all my nervousness was gone. David was amazing! My color was EXACTLY what I wanted! I’m growing my hair out so he didn’t cut it much, but he a great job styling it. I have found a new stylist and salon! I feel pretty again :)

David is an amazing hair stylist. He is great with color– and really knows which colors will best compliment your skin tone. He gave me a great haircut and took the time to teach me how to create the style on my own at home (which I can actually do!). I am so happy with my new cut and color– and have received so many compliments. I recommend David highly to anyone looking for a stylist.

There are no words to describe how absolutely AMAZING DAVID IS in every way! He is professional but at the same time instantly your new best friend, almost like you have known him for years! He 100% knows what he is doing and made me feel so comfortable and had me walking out feeling absolutely beautiful!
I have been extremely nervous to get my hair done since I have had some pretty bad catastrophes at salons in the past and had been having my mother who was a stylist do my hair for years. She passed away 2 years ago and I just couldn’t find the nerve to get it done by someone else. After expressing my hesitation and nervousness to David he made it his mission to make my mom proud (which meant a lot to me)! He also went above and beyond to make sure my hair turned out perfect and made the whole experience amazing!
His cut was beautiful, flows perfectly and is so great to style with. His color skills are seriously fantastic– he did a natural ombré to my hair and I couldn’t be happier! The man for sure knows what he is doing. I cant wait to go back to him again!

Beautiful haircut with the talented Lauren! I have been following Lauren since Ardeo, then to Studio 9 and now to Sequel. She is extremely talented and I love her haircuts. The new salon has a great vibe to it. pretty modern. Would highly recommend this place.

I have been struggling for a while on wether or not I should write this but every time I go in front of the mirror I get so upset that I feel like it’s only fair to share my experience. Gabby has NO idea how to do ombré or what it is for that matter, I have had ombré for couple of years and loved it and got compliments all the time, my old stylist left the state and I needed to refresh it and move it up A BIT. When I went to her she seemed pretty distracted as she had a bride in THREE hours but that shouldn’t have affected my service! She could have canceled my appointment if she can’t concentrate before her brides! Anyway she literally gave me just a few highlights on the top shortest layer and bangs and then put all over color on my whole hair!!! And because the highlights started just ¼″ from my roots she called it ombré, seriously!!! Now I have a brown all over color with ugly highlight just on the top short layer and bangs!!! Since then EVERYONE has asked me why I got rid of my ombré, so seems like they all know what ombré is except for her! She didn’t seem to care when she saw me unhappy and was pretty dismissive when I only asked if she thought this was an ombré. So not only I had to give a ridiculous amount of money and waste long hours to get a strange looking hair, I now have to pay someone else to reverse it! The worst hair experience of my whole life hands down! The salon is pretty nice and cool but if they don’t promote customer service and care about customer happiness, it’s just a building! Never again!

Gabby Gabby Gabby! She is the best all around you won’t be disappointed. She does and incredible job and is so very talented. She offers great advice for your hair specifically for your hair type. Enjoys her work and is super fun to spend time with. She cuts and colors my hair and also cuts my daughters. It always looks great. She is more knowledgeable about hair than any stylist I have ever encountered.

I never write these reviews but I must say Gabby at sequel is brilliant! She is soooo talented super nice and the best hair cut I’ve EVER had in Utah. I have long thick brown hair she cut and styled it effortlessly— you should definitely check out her blog if you are a bride she does amazing work can’t wait for her to do my hair in June.
Super warm person very easy to get along with not stuffy and incredible style and taste you are I’m good hands with her.
