I always go to this restaurant to get lunch or dinner, they get ready for your food in decent time and they are well prepared. Also they serve their customer friendly. This is the place where you need to get food.

This place has been renovated to become an actual Sushi restaurant. Well, not really a restaurant its not fancy. It does look quite nice when you walk in though. you can see a nice looking sushi station. Seating is well, same and worse at the same time. The same part is that the Chairs and tables are still the same from before. Heavy steel chairs and some sort of coated wooden tables. This coating does make it easier to clean but has a sort of unpleasant stickiness, its probably better to take the coat off and sandpaper the wood under. Also theres a new«feature» where theres a line of high chairs facing the wall with a small area to put food in front of you. I tend to eat around by myself but that ISNOT appealing. My first thought was that id rather sit at a table even though Id be taking more space. Also, I honestly think it would look like you are having detention if you are sitting there. Food quality actually is pretty nice considering the price. The staff that are here are either Chinese or Taiwanese and well, I don’t really think that matters much. The point is what they aren’t. Well I suppose it is someone smart keeping the asians where you can see and leaving the hispanic cooks in the back at an Asian restaurant. But well, it would be nice to have staff that have some Japanese heritage as well, since its sushi. The staff aren’t exactly fun. But they aren’t impolite. They just seem like part-time workers. It would be nice to have a reason to come here and greet someone once in a while, which I have done with the previous workers. Pros: Decent quality for the price. Generally clean and open space. Cons: Outdated Chairs, tables, and badly placed wall dining section. Boring atmosphere — «I guess you just eat and run out…

This place has upped its game since the introduction of a sushi menu. I came here a couple times before the remodel and had the salmon bento. It was«eh” – the teriyaki glaze on the fish was too syrupy. Just went back today to try the sushi and ordered a Dragon roll, sumo size. Tasty! I enjoyed the use of smoked salmon in a sushi roll, which I hadn’t tried before. Judging by the new menu, the place seems to be going fusion, with funky ingredients such as mango, sriracha, honey and habanero pepper alongside the classics. Sono’s recreated image is sure to make it a more frequented fixture in the University neighborhood. I only wish that they would switch from Styrofoam to paper-based plates.

Really good sushi. They were very friendly and helpful. We rounded out the meal with some tempura and miso soup. This was a nice simple Japanese meal.

Had the executive roll and teriyaki chicken. Roll Is now one of my all time favorites. I was a huge fan of the old Sono(more than 15 years dining) so I had my reservations, but the food met and exceeded my expectations. Owner was great, friendly service. I will be returning and recommending often!

Located by the University of Utah, next to the famous Pie Pizzeria. It’s a small building with about less than 10 tables to sit at but it’s appropriate since it’s an express and people can pick up a quick bite before/after classes. We went in for while it was still the grand opening and it was 20% off sushi and selected items. Sushi — Co Co & Fire Cracker Co Co($ 8.95) was a little bland for my liking, no special taste but the Fire Cracker($ 7.95) was a little spicy and much more flavorful. Both we’re fresh and not fishy. They have options of Regular or Sumo size. The regular was about the average sushi roll so I can’t imagine how big the Sumo would be. We also went with the EBI Udon — Shrimp Tempura($ 8.95). Pretty good portion for price. We compared it to the bowl at Tsunami which is about the same price but smaller portion. The broth wasn’t bland like most places to my surprise. They also have chili oil and sriracha to add in. The udon noodles were just how I like it, super soft. They give you 2 pieces of shrimp tempura on top but I like to take it out before it gets soggy. Decent prices for a wide range of food. You order at the counter. Take a seat while you wait and pick up the food at the counter once it’s ready. Water is self-served. Condiments are all at the counter with little containers for your use. Great service. The guy even gave us free edamame. I would definitely come back to try other dishes.

Young children are harsh food critics — things that they like are«yummy », while everything else is just«yucky». My kid love here.

I miss the old sono express. Food is not bad, but not great. Menus is about average for the area. I’d stop by once or twice maybe for a quick lunch, but wouldn’t bring a date here or anything.
