What more can you ask for than a drive through Greek place?! Although I do wish they were open Sundays…

This place is amazing and I go here about twice a week. Everyone is nice and friendly. Best Greek food in salt lake! Don’t even get me started on the fried dough balls!

I think the gyros are pretty nasty, but the burgers are decent. The chicken salad is the best thing they have and quite good. I come back because its convenient.

These guys make the best gyros and greek salad in town! Yanni’s lemon rice is fabulous. We are fortunate they are with walking distance of our house. We have been going there for 20 years. The food is fresh, fast(but made to order) and reasonably priced and Yanni’s restaurant is clean.

I have been a regular of Yanni’s for over 20 years. This is the best Greek you can get. Great service, great quality, and you get your money’s worth. The dolmathes are me absolute favorite.

Yanni’s is a staple in Salt Lake City. You won’t find better lemon rice(put some red sauce on it for a real treat) or Gyros in town. Yanni is there every day, overseeing the quality and the consistency of the food. The recipes are his own and he is very particular about the quality of the meats, vegetables and fresh desserts he serves. As for the review about the«microwaved dolmathes,» one must hope that homemade deliciousness like this doesn’t sit in a pot, steaming all day and turning to mush. They have to be prepared and cooled, the micro is the most efficient way to heat them and have them retain their proper texture and taste… It’s a heating method, not a cooking method. In addition to great Greek, Yanni makes a great burger and the onion rings are made fresh daily. The fry sauce is some of the best around.

Best Gyro in the Salt Lake Valley. You have to get fries because their fry sauce is the best I have ever EVER tasted. And please believe me when I say I love fry sauce and have had it from many places. So a Gryo with extra taziki sauce and tomatoes with a side of fries with fry sauce… I want it now.

If you want Greek food from a Guy named Yanni that is regularly at the restaurant monitering everything to ensure quality, this is it. I enjoyed the food and will likely go again at some point.

Yanni’s is not to be deterred. The gyros here are some of the best in Salt Lake. Tonight, I grabbed one to go and it is the ever-reminder that Greek food is the least likely gem of the Beehive state. There are other great Greek spots, sure. Yanni’s however is in close locale to many neighborhoods whether you’re in South Salt Lake, Millcreek, or Sugar House. Admittedly, I don’t eat here very often, however I know what to get and what to expect: Fresh food, friendly people, and easy going service. It’s good food and a place you can’t renounce around here. Well done.

Luv Yannis. Been coming here for years. Since way back when it was a little white run down looking place. And because they were always busy. U knew it had to be good. they completely remodeled ground up a while ago… Still same great food. It’s the only place i go fir souviulki. Yummmm. it is definetely worth trying.

The Dolmathes are so good here, excellent in fact, but I just found out tonight that they microwave them before serving. If I wanted to eat from a microwave I would eat at home. For me, there is no place for a microwave in a restaurant.

The first thing that struck me about this place is despite a sort of run down outside, the inside was very clean and modern. The floor was spotless and all the tables looked freshly cleaned and as if they were replaced regularly. From the counter you can see back into the kitchen and I was happy to see if looked cleaner than most other fast food restaurants. When I ordered, the staff were all very chatty and friendly. It’s refreshing to get that kind of experience at a fast food joint and I tipped accordingly. As for the pfood, I ordered the chicken souvlaki with rice and an Oreo shake. It didn’t take long for them to make it and the food itself was delicious. I think they had be best lemon rice I’ve ever had. Unfortunately(or fortunatelyl?) I couldn’t finish all my food courtesy of the big portions. Next time I’ll have to remember to skip dessert.

Good stuff. Been going here for years and still after so long you see a lot of similar faces. The wife will typically get a gyro and fried mushrooms which she loves. She says this location is much better and has a great home style cooking vs the other locations which feel more commercialized. Drive-Thru can be a little annoying with how long the food can take to make. It’s not McDonald’s fast, but the food is worth it. If you do drive-thru then be prepared to pull forward and park ahead of the window so others can also pay.

This place has been around a long, long time, long enough that I’ve driven by it for a couple decades at least, not stopping once until today(it’s only fairly recently that I’ve really started to give Greek joints the chance they deserve). My wife has me beat, by virtue of being from here and has always meant to get there, starting from she was a kid, but has yet to make it(I got takeout for this review). This is another place where I think the fries were the best thing(regular readers of my reviews will know what this means) and they indeed were up there with the best that Crown, Apollo, Astro, et. al. have to offer. Their rice was also good, approaching Chicken Express level. The pita was definitely not and the closest comparison to the chicken souvlaki, Greek Market, is leagues and worlds better. I also had fried mushrooms and those were interesting, much drier(hardly greasy at all) and with sort of a corn meal-based batter. They elected, however, to give me fry sauce to dip them in and I consider fry sauce a sort of bane, so I had to sub in bleu cheese dressing when I got home. It wasn’t ranch, like everywhere else and this was a decided lack. I had the Pastrami Burger and while the cut of the pastrami was somewhat interesting and different, the bottom half of the bun was completely stale and I had to toss it. The meat, both burger and pastrami, was pretty bland and though the pickles were pretty decent, the overall picture was decidedly average. In comparison to those other local chains I mentioned, this falls way, way short. The parking is very odd and this place can be challenging to get into. I wouldn’t say it is a place I should have kept on driving by, per se, but it is nothing like Navajo Hogan, for instance, where stopping was rewarding on the level of having a new regular spot slinging up deliciously awesome food. Service here was very friendly(bumps this up from 2.5 stars) and speed was reasonable for what I ordered. I may stop at this place again(my son really likes the exterior color scheme) and see if I can find something much better, but after viewing the various rewards for«Best Of», dating all the way to 16 years ago(the most recent is 12 years old — seriously, take those down), it seems that this place is definitely out of its prime and the current rating is probably the best I can expect.

Ordered a pastrami burger combo via drive-thru. I liked that the meal came in good time, with everything present and accounted for. It was delicious. It was fresh and hot. It was everything it should be. I enjoyed it to the last bite. Yay! I’m a fan.

Clean and reasonable. Can’t say I’m in a hurry to return since I can get a much better gyro at Greek Soulvaki. One thing I cannot stand is when the gyro meat is sliced too thick … which is what I got here. The pita was good but also too thick. I was trying really hard to like Yannis and went back and ordered the spinach pie, Dolmades, and pork Soulvaki. The pie was good … the Dolmades were very loosely wrapped and literally swimming in water. Go see my picture of Greek Soulvaki and Yanni’s and you’ll see the difference. Sorry, they should know better. Food did taste good, fries are really good, but cannot give it more than 3 stars.

I can’t say it is a terrible place, but quality of food(as well as service) is inconsistent.

Well, there are two parts to this review. Part one. The food was delicious. The lemon rice was lemony and fresh tasting. The gyro was saucy, messy and delicious. Part two. Everything was great until I found a long white hair in my rice. Okay. I can handle that. Ignore. Ignore. It’s not a big deal. It happens. But then, my companion found what looked like an armpit hair in her gyro. And then it was all over. It doesn’t matter how delicious your food is; if you have hair in it, it loses it’s appetizing qualities. So, dinner was cut short and we went for dessert someplace else.

The gyro meat lacked seasoning but the Tzatziki sauce wasn’t bad nor was the grated onions, a nice change. Why do fries from greek gyro places always have that same«flavor?» This is no different. I’m not saying it’s bad necessarily but it’s a unique flavor. They do have some unique desserts that I haven’t seen at other similar places. See photos. Both were decent and not too sweet. This place is worth trying or if you’re in the area and need a gyro fix but it’s not my «I want a gyro» goto place.
