Best bbq in town. Sometimes the meat is dry but usually pretty great. Also really good onion rings, beans and cobbler!

Awesome catfish and burgers. The BBQ is pretty good, too. Delicious cobbler(they have a couple of different kinds every day) with homemade ice cream is a must, so save room.

Oh my so yummy and reasonably priced. I would give 5 stars but the seating needs updating(is broken down booths and uncomfortable) and parking lot needs to be paved. Mom’s Prius barely made it in and out alive. lol Homemade ice cream need I say more?

Last time I ate here, the catfish had a dirty muddy taste and I couldn’t finish it. The fries are good with the cream gravy and occasionally the cobbler isn’t bad.

Not great but not bad either. Went for lunch and got the spare ribs, cole slaw and beans. Meat wasn’t really warm. Tasted more like an indoor picnic. Sauce was good. Ribs tasted kind of like the flame it was cooked on. I got the stuffed jalapeños. I was really excited to try them, but they were pretty cookie-cutter. Not great, but not bad. The restaurant was deco’d with a nascar theme and was really nice. Don’t know if I’ll go back or try to find a better BBQ in San Angelo.

Was told this was the place to go for brisket. It was average. The beef ribs however, outstanding! Fried jalapeños, delicious(cheddar cheese. Best way to do it.) Fried mushrooms, equally great. Normally, a side of ranch is a tiny Dixie cup. Not the case here. You get your very own ketchup bottle! If you’re on a diet, skip this place. If you love great food at decent prices, come here. Definitely will be back

Had this when I went home to visit. service: super super friendly and accomodating I always feel rude not leaving physical cash(that i never carry) when I leave the table. but i hope they realize everyone pays with cards and that is where tip is left. FOOD: the brisket needed something. I wish I could ask for bark cut like @ Rudy’s. but ah well. The beef ribs were the shiny star of the place along with the sausage. potato salad was great! beans: downright horrible. there was no seasoning, no salt, no flavor, no bacon, nothing. it was like hospital beans. yup I said it. but the people made up for it. I’d gob k and try a hamburger.

This is the best Texas-home-style BBQ in town. I’ve literally been coming here my entire life & it never fails to satisfy. Also great for take out on the lake!

Everything I’ve ever expected from a BBQ place. Steady lunch traffic-seated or grab to go. The brisket is melt-in-yer-mouth good, potatoe salad is good(with dill pickle, onion & mustard). The onion rings are great-thin and flour breaded; a ½ order is all a normal human being could ever eat! Place is clean, quiet and has plenty in seating(two storefronts worth). DEFINITELYRECCOMMEND to anyone that has time to run here from San Angelo Regional Airport 2.5 miles away!

As far as San Angelo goes, this is one the top 2BBQ places in my opinion. I’ve never had anything bad. The beans and potato salad are great and I love their sauce and sausage. Their blackberry cobbler is the best I’ve ever had!

When we first got to San Angelo everyone raved about this place. After eating there we weren’t sure why. It was okay and cheap but not good enough to go again.

Great chopped brisket sandwiches, and their onion rings are choice too. They always give excellent service to the military. They’re awesome!!!

Usually good but the last time i went it was late at night and seemed as if the staff wanted to get home and the food was sitting all day, too dry

We were looking forward to eating here as we really like BBQ. Unfortunately, this is not great BBQ – only good. The brisket was chewy but the sausage was good. Beans and potato salad were OK but have had better. The blackberry cobbler and homemade ice cream were great however!

My main problem with Packsaddle is that it’s extremely dirty. If you go there, just don’t look up and don’t look at the stuffed deer on the wall because they are covered in dirt. The ceiling fans are gross! The food was ok, but if the restaurant is that dirty in the dining area, what does the kitchen look like? I won’t go over there again due to the dirt. I came for the cobbler and they only had peach or blackberry. I like cherry or apple, period. Also disappointing was the coleslaw and the potato salad.

I’m in no way a connoisseur of fine, southern(.or Texan) BBQ but this place really knocked my socks off. Everything about it, from the interior design to the odd fact that they’re closed on Tuesdays, seemed to ring of some sort of crazy authenticity. I had the«poor boy» sandwich and found myself craving another one despite the fact that I wasn’t even hungry to begin with. The waitress was friendly and their coke was on point. Just the right amount of syrup… Besides the fact that this place seems to be waging a war against Tuesdays I’d say that you absolutely must stop in. Especially if you’re a pilot flying into Mathis Field and looking for a place to take the crew car!

One of my favorite BBQ places in San Angelo. Good prices and great chopped brisket, seriously, if you order anything else(except maybe a combo plate), you’re missing out. It just has that nice smokey smell that permeates through the building. Also, you’re pretty much required to get cobbler if you have room for it, just saying. If you want to one up your experience, get it with ice-cream too. Overall, a great Texan experience, and one of the two places in town I would recommend if you’re looking to good some good BBQ Seriously, I can picture that smokey aroma right now.

We went here for lunch and it’s definitely a hot spot for the locals. It’s rustic and older on the inside, but it has it’s own greasy spoon type of charm. We started off with the onion rings and the jalapeño poppers because appetizers were only $ 2 – 4. You could feel your arteries clogging, but the appetizers were greasy and delicious! Next we had our main course. My friends had the burger and beef brisket and the brisket was very good. I had the short ribs, they were very beefy but a bit fatty for my taste. And if you go there, you have to get dessert. We got cherry cobbler with homemade vanilla ice cream, it was messy but delicious! All for under $ 30, pretty cool experience.
