Great server Jason we had, conversational very much on top of his game. The wine menu gave a lot of options and they had some seafood you won’t find at red lobster the kind of care you would expect from a family owned business, only rating it low because the first impression is the carpet is stained and dated as well as the booths and the menu was sticky even though the table wasn’t

I always enjoy the cream of jalapeño soup and their cucumber effen vodka bloody marys. The Cajun bites are a great starter. The food is usually great but the service has been declining with each visit, sad to say.

The service here is atrocious. For the«fine dining experience» they advertise, the staff does a poor job of upholding the minimum standard. We frequent this restaurant for the delicious food, and it is delicious. The three star rating is all attributed to the food. One would think that being regulars would help out our experience, instead our waitress last night avoided us at all costs, didn’t mention the fresh fish options(biggest money maker therefore upping your tip potential) and by the end of the evening, was straight-up rude. Next time, we’ll flag Terry or Janelle down and let them know. They work way too hard to let snooty staff ruin their reputation.

Good place to eat. It can be pricy and service was a little slow. But we had a large group. Steaks were seasoned well. And was worth trying out.

Downgrading my earlier rating by a star. Nothing has changed much here in years, but I still haven’t found anything on the menu that calls to me to return. Previously I said that they have the best seafood in San Angelo in an earlier review. This may have been an overstatement but then again there really arent many options. This last visit included two disappointments. The first was the entrée, shrimp scampi, which was way over-cooked. This turned the smallish shrimp to rubber. It was also flavorless. Scampi shouls be a rich, buttery, garlicy, dish with a salty paremesan crust. This version is just over-cooked shrimp drowned in a tasteless sauce that may or may not have had garlic and cheese melted in it somewhere. No taste. I ordered the baked potato with butter only. It was ok, but served with all of the toppings I didn’t want. It took a while to get the order to the table so I didn’t complain. This is not an outrageously over priced restaurant, but prices are a little high for the quality level of the servings.

They’re back!!! I’ve been harsh in the past. However, over the last few months they’ve been so consistent that I’m amazed. Everything has come together again. The Wharf easily smashes most places in the area with ease. Go tonight…

The Wharf is my favorite seafood restaurant. Every meal I have had here has been excellent. I enjoy my fish blackened and they have done an excellent job whether it has been snapper, tilapia or the catch of the day. Terry and Janelle Nolan go out of their way to make your visit to their restaurant a wonderful experience. One of the highlights to The Wharf is their collection of wine. Take time to peruse the collection and you are sure to find a wine to your liking from a California Chardonnay or Cabernet to a Chilean Shiraz or Argentinian Malbec. If you are unsure of what wine goes with a particular dish, be sure to ask Terry for his recommendation. Finally, save room for dessert. All desserts are«homemade» at the restaurant and while my husband loves the chocolate cake. I prefer the crème brûlée.

the king crab were free of flavor(I’m not even sure how that happens?)… the asparagus was over cooked. the«clam» chowder was watery and was clam in name only. rolls were fantastic. butter was buttery. shrimp cocktail was unimpressive. asparagus overcooked. service was speedyish, but not quite what one would expect at this cost. not real sure what they were trying to go for with the décor, but no. all in all, just no. you’d seriously be happier at red lobster, as sad as that is.

My daughter and ate here and little skeptical, but WOW, what a hidden treasure the food was absolutely fabulous, we had the crab legs and steak, one of the best steaks I ever had. The Jalapeño Cream Soup was to die for!!!

First things first; excellent food. I had the Hawaiian chicken breast and it was deliciously succulent with no grizzle. Asparagus was cooked just right, and the Caesar salad was just what you’d expect from a Caesar salad. They make lots of things in house, including cutting their own steaks, some salad dressings etc The atmosphere was very nice and walking in with a t shirt and shorts I felt under dressed and almost asked about a dress code(then I remembered I was in San Angelo). My only complaint was my waitress. She wasn’t very good at her job. She gave me my salad before she got my water to me. My water was gone when she brought me my entrée, and by the time she made it back to refill it I had already finished my dinner. However I am certain that she is an exception. As I was jealous of other customers; listening to their waiters talking to their tables, being charismatic and explicating what felt like genuine feelings of actually caring about their tables. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone, and if I’m ever back in San Angelo I will assuredly come back!

I lived in San Angelo for four years and this was our GOTO spot for date night. The steak is delicious, the catfish is delicious, the cream of jalapeño soup is delicious, the shrimp cocktail is delicious. The salmon is of good quality but I wasn’t pleased with some of the glazes and toppings they have for it– some were a little too sweet for my taste, but the salmon was cooked to perfection! The dessert there is amazing, but be careful because they are HUGE portions! It is great if you have someone to share with! I have heard some other people in their reviews mention Red Lobster– if that is the quality of food they are used to, no wonder they don’t appreciate ACTUAL food! I have been to the Red Lobster and have NEVER had a good experience there or tasted anything NEAR as good as The Wharf. I have had only ONE bad experience at The Wharf in the 4 years of going there regularly, the steak was warm on the outside and cool in the center when I asked for medium– which should be a warm center. I spoke with our waitress, she immediately took it away and brought back a steak with a warm center(I am sure they just heated up the same steak) but regardless it was still delicious! I like this place for steaks and catfish better than anywhere else I have been in San Angelo!

Food was actually really great and fish was fresh and well cooked! However the carpet is embarrassingly dirty and must be replaced. They need to learn that they should be shampooing that damn thing at least twice a year. It’s gross, but the service and food are great.

We eat here often, and have for 16 yrs. it’s always our«go to» spot for out of town guests. The bar is very inviting and you’ll be hard pressed to find better seafood anywhere. The blackened prime rib is amazing. I say 5 stars. Service is 3 stars.

It was late, after 9:00 pm so we didn’t know if we could get a good dinner but boy were we surprised. We checked in at The Rodeway Hotel and they recommended The Wharf which was adjacent to the hotel. It is a uniquely decorated restaurant with very friendly staff. I had the coconut shrimp, baked potato and clam chowder. My husbands had the regular fried shrimp and salad. It was all delicious and generous portions . The owner is the chef and you could tell he knew what he was doing. We’ll be back.

This place is great. Proof that you can’t judge a book by its cover. It’s cozy inside, the bar area has several TV’s to watch sporting events while you drink and eat. There sea food is great and is very fresh for a restaurant that is a good distance from any ocean. The wine selection is pretty good. Try the fried oysters for a starter. I make it a point to eat here when I am in town.

Great steak and shrimp dinner. Oysters Rockefeller appetizer and beef tips. Good service, good menu selections. good wine selection. Had a business dinner here and it went very smoothly. It’s San Angelo sure not San Fransisco so I gave it a 4 for rating by location. Yes it is dated interior but its comfortable and clean… so what? Try out for yourself is my recommendation. The bad reviews are inaccurate.

Not sure why this does not get better reviews, but my wife and I had a very enjoyable experience. Sure, the place could use a renovation, but we had no complaints about the food. The staff was very friendly, courteous, and at tentative. The appetizer, breaded oysters, was prepared just right. I had the clam chowder and my wife had a Caesar salad. Both were excellent. I had the fresh grilled salmon with asparagus, and my wife had grilled shrimp with rice pilaf. Both were prepared as you would expect them to be. Overall, a very enjoyable evening for my wife and I. We will dine there again and would not hesitate recommending it to our friends.

Not sure why this place gets such good reviews. The food is only so so and the service was horrible the last time I went there. Took us forever to get our food. I don’t see how this place is still in business.

Like many things San Angelo this places ratings don’t really surprise me either. For the most part when you say seafood in West Texas people think shrimp and sadly catfish. Our two trips here in the 3.5 years we lived in Angelo all ended the same… Disappointment. They make quite a few claims about their food and wine pairings but we found most of those claims to be unsubstantiated. It reminds me of so many other small town restaurants where the chef and/or owner watches too much Food TV and starts to believe their own hype. Save money and by all means avoid the retention and just head over to the mall and grab red lobster. Your wallet and palette will thank you.
