Kat did amazing work! We framed a piece of art close to our hearts so we spent a lot of time choosing a frame, mat, and glass and we were never pressured or hurried. It turned out exactly how we wanted and we LOVE it! Great customer service at a reasonable price — seriously, Alpha Kat beat a big box craft store in pricing and you can even compare the quality or the experience!

My brother gave me an enormous photo for my birthday and I had framed here. They did an amazing job. The work was flawless and the photo looks beautiful in the frame Kat suggested. I moved to San Antonio last year and now I can check off frame shop from my shopping list!

When I was much younger, my wife and I did our own framing: select and cut the frame, mat, and glass, add backing, and attach the hanging wire. Once you have seen an Alpha Kat frame, you will give up trying to match Kat’s master works. I gave Kat the only photograph of my mother and her brother taken on August 27, 1936. She selected a hand-​made Italian frame, added a core-​solid mat (color goes all the way through so it doesn’t show white when cut), added a hand penned border, and used museum quality glass (you can hardly see the glass). It is a work of art! If my mother and uncle were still with us, they would be very pleased. I’m trying to think of a better word than fabulous or awesome.. .I guess they will have to do.

I was super excited to check out this framing shop. I wanted to support a small, local business so I called before I went to make sure they were open. No one answered, but I just figured who ever was there was busy. Small shop– less available hands. I left work about 15 minutes early so that I would get there about ½ hour before they closed. My pieces were small (diplomas) so I knew they wouldn’t take a lot of time to order. I got there and the shop was beautiful… but there was no one there. I got there with about 26 minutes to spare and the place was locked up tight. No sign on the door explaining that they closed early or anything– I even tried to make myself super obvious in case the owner was grabbing a coffee or drink at a neighboring business.
I wanted to get my framing order done and out of the way though, so I ended up going to a big box store and found some nice frames and matting on sale (I wasn’t worried about cost though, I just wanted something nice).
I’d recommend that you call ahead of time and don’t go unless you are able to reach someone and make an appointment. It’s a gorgeous shop though, and I really wish I would have been able to commission something through them.

I took one of my larger painting to Kat, and with her help I found the perfect frame. She has a great selection of materials to go with ANYTHING. It turned out phenomenal. I won’t be going anywhere else for my framing needs!

Like many of the other comments, I was afraid a privately-​owned shop in Olmos Park would be very expensive, but I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. Kat has very competitive prices, all while providing the best framing quality available.
Kat took the time to help me choose the perfect frame and inlay for my over-​sized painting, and she didn’t charge me for stretching the canvas! When I picked up my framed painting, I hardly recognized it, it turned out better than I imagined it could!

We had three paintings done and she kept the arthritis e centerpiece while maintaining a contemporary look which we were going for. I brought 3 pieces in for framing. The gentleman that helped me first spent time making sure he found just the right color of mat board and suggested a ribbon mat that made it look even better. One of my pieces was on canvas that had been poorly stretched so they re-​stretched it for free. Kat suggested frames that complimented the pieces. They were quick and reasonably priced. Will definitely return.

I went to Michael’s at the height of their sale: Buy 1 Get 2 Free off framing. I had six things to frame, but it was going to take 3 weeks to get my items back.
On a whim, I stopped by Alpha Kat Framing and met Kat. I loved the individual attention she gives, and how she takes the time to make sure that I’m hanging my frames correctly — she always makes a template out of cardboard for me.

I am very meticulous when it comes to spending money and buying things. My wife wanted to get some framing done, and I initially cringed because I don’t think her standards for vendors are same as mine. We went to Alpha Kat based on few google reviews — but I was fully ready to try some place else. Glad that we stuck around and had Kat frame our paintings. Her prices were reasonable, but more importantly her work was exceptional. She even noticed a tiny — this defect was so small that I had to look very carefully to find it — and fixed the work. I am not sure if any framing place gets any better than this. I used the big box places (like Michaels) in the past and ordered online, but quality of the work will not match and I think Kat offers her service at a very reasonable price (even when compared to box stores). You will not be disappointed.
