This place has good home cooking and items that are leaving menus like fried chicken gizzards with cream gravy. My husband ordered these and loved them. They also have a huge selection of vegetables. Try the Sonora casserole, a Mexican zucchini and corn blend with corn chips and sour cream– delish! They also serve mile high slices of corn bread with their plates. This was a nice surprise. Atmosphere is reminiscent of an old diner, old 50’s music, and swivel stools. Good for lunch.

410 diner is more than just nostalgic. The food is pretty darn good. The service is also great. The staff really makes you feel like you’re in a diner with their southern comfort hospitality. Prices are a little up there for what you get which is part of the reason of the missing star, but the portions are big. I’m just not into super huge portions(sorry America). The only other qualm I have is that I wish the menu was a tiny bit more creative. I get they’re trying to stay true to their diner roots, but something besides a few different proteins and the same sides all the time, the same way for each dish is a little boring. That being said, what they serve has always been perfect in my experiences. I’ll keep going back if I’m in that part of town.

Still like the music and everything. The food is still great, but after coming in the second time I have realized you get more attention and better service when you’re in the main area of the restaurant. If you’re in the other part you’re kinda forgotten.

it’s a diner, but it’s no New Jersey diner! Which leads me to believe my expectations when going to any diner in the rest of the country are a little too high! The food was good and served it’s purpose. Not sure I’d go again but not sorry that I did.

It was just ok. Ordered the fried shrimp platter, shrimp were heavily breaded and appeared large but they were just slit down the back to look large. Sides were bland.

I have been going here for years. The service is great and the food is delicious. It draws seniors for some reason but there are all ages. Check it out.

LOVETHEVEGGIEOPTIONS! As a vegetarian, I am a big fan of places with a lot of vegetarian options. Thank you for keeping us in mind as most places have very little options for those that prefer a meatless option!

A San Antonio classic — open since 1982 — that I’ve been going to since I was a baby! Very retro diner — complete with pictures of Elvis and Marilyn and old table tops and a lunch counter! Pretty classic diner food as well! As a vegetarian, I usually get their vegetables plate(choose 3 or 5 of their vegetable options) — the stewed cabbage, Sonora casserole, curried okra, mac and cheese, corn, yams, and ratatouille are my favorites! They also have great desserts — especially the pies! Charming place with a lot of loyal customers! Great staff!

There were five of us from the office that had lunch at the 410 Diner. This place including the menu reminded me of «Checkers Diner.» We were served by Stephanie who started out very slowly showing us that she truly had a perky disposition. I ordered the Salmon with spinach and stewed cabbage, and I had every bit of my butter slathered corn bread;(the butter was not on the table, you have to ask for the real deal) I called the cornbread my desert! The Salmon was slightly over cooked but the flavor gave this a 4. It was served with red onion and seeded cucumbers ~ Yum! From the looks of the two that ordered the chicken fried steak, there was nothing left on their plates, so I assumed that they liked their dish as well. Another in our party ordered the vegetable plate and she chose the Mushroom artichoke soup — I did try a spoonful of this delicious concoction. Also for her other four choices were the okra, yams, stewed cabbage, and ratatouille. Yeah, her plate was polished clean as well. Last but not least also ordered by one of my co-workers was the Grilled Chicken California(I love the way that sounds — when you put that title together.) This was a breast of grilled chicken topped with avocado, tomatoes and garlic lemon butter sauce — yowsa… another clean plate… My meal, including tea & tax was $ 13.79…that’s a very good deal for lunch! We will be back!

Authentic old-school diner atmosphere… Went for lunch and found many light options on the menu… not just«diner food»… I got the grilled salmon and it was excellent. Coffee was good too. Place was clean and restroom was immaculate when I went to wash up… They do have typical«diner food» like burgers, Texas toast, fries, chicken tenders & such… and that looked and smelled delicious as plates passed by our table.

Not bad, good price. Decent food. Didn’t think this was worthy of a «Rhyme by Ryan»

We went to this restaurant because we wanted an authentic-looking 50s place to eat. Generally, that’s what we got –the atmosphere was just right, but the food and service was just okay. First, my parents ordered their $ 2.45 ‘on the rocks’ margaritas, and they were very bland, very different. Their onion rings as an appetizer were pretty good. I ordered grilled catfish with green beans and mushroom-artichoke soup. The soup was the best part out of my meal — it was pretty flavorful and tasted just like it sounds, but slightly tangy. My grilled catfish was okay, a little too much on the lemony side though, and it also looked as if it had a thin layer of breaking on it. The green beans were alright. On the other hand, one of my family members ordered the fried catfish, which happened to be very delicious.

Does anybody remember the old school 50s style diners on TV shows such as Saved by the Bell and Happy Days? If it’s a blast in the past that you’re looking for then don’t hold your breath waiting for a time machine to be invented, just come here to 410 Diner instead. I had low expectations of this place after reading most of the Unilocal reviews on here which weren’t flattering at all. I even had half a mind to leave after being told twice to wait for a seat but I didn’t and I was seated at a table at the very far back of the restaurant. The host handed me a menu and a list of the sides and specials. A few minutes later a friendly waitress arrived to my table and took my order for a pink lemonade. I placed my order for a chicken fried steak with stewed cabbage and green beans for sides as soon as she brought my lemonade. My chicken fried steak was so big it had to be served on a separate plate away and the sides were served on separate dishes too. I also got a huge square of cornbread which reminded me of the kind served at the school cafeteria on enchilada day(anyone who graduated or went to school in SAISD schools know what I’m talking about) but bigger. The green beans were very good, the stewed cabbage was okay and the CFS was better than the ones I’ve had at Lulu’s, Tip Top Café and Jim’s. After I was done with my meal I ordered a slice of French Silk pie, which was tres delicieux.

Their food is really bland and plain. I only come here when I need something quick and I always order take out. I once ordered a chicken and asked that it was plain with NOTHING on it(because I was doing an elimination diet for allergies) When I got the chicken, it was covered in parsley, which had absolutely no point of being on the plate. So they disregarded my request, even though I told them I had a medical reason when the waitress asked me why. Today, I called to place an order for pick-up, they placed me on hold and never came back on the line. 410 Diner, you are now on my burn list. I was mad about the parsley, but I forgave you. I don’t like being placed on hold forever.

The staff is funny & spunky. They definitely make the visit worthwhile. The food is solid & the portions are more than generous. I got the chicken fried steak with Mac n cheese & butter beans. The CFS& butter beans were NOM but the Mac n cheese tastes like it came from a frozen box. Which is why 4 stars & not 5.

As I’ve said in previous reviews, I believe in rating restaurants in their category. This one’s diner. Spouse and I have eaten in diners all over the country, and this one is right up with the best. Funky 50s décor, a menu that considers Mac&cheese as heathy veggies — and I LOVE it. Spouse had the 8 oz bacon cheese burger, cooked perfectly at medium rare. He pronounced it one of the best he’s had. Fries not so much but who needs them anyway. I am in love with the mushroom artichoke soup — creamy, tasty, the stuff soup dreams are made of. And for me the late 50s music left me humming and remembering every word. Which tells you how old I am. Oh well.

Love the 50’s retro dinner thing they have going on here. Cool place to hang out and lots of stuff to look at while you are waiting to be served. The service is always very attentive and friendly. They take care of their guests right. Always a nice selection of lunch specials and dinner specials. On Tuesdays after 5PM $ 2 off any entrée. Nice choice of sides to accompany your entrée. I can’t get enough of the Mushroom Artichoke soup.
