I like the place but the beer makes me sick every time. I can’t even drink it anymore. The events they’ve had here have been fun but so disorganized. The bridge above is a nice look but scary when there’s kids spitting and throwing stuff down while you’re walking. The employees are almost always rude.

This brewery has everything you could ever hope for from a local brewery except for one vital thing: good beer. The beautiful setting, thoughtfully planned out details, friendly staff and overall fun environment are overshadowed by what appears to be a concerted decision to appeal to the lowest common denominator of beer drinker. They have a Golden Ale, a Pilsner, an Amber Lager and a German Pale Ale… all of which pretty much taste the same. I understand the premise of having an «entry level» beer for the non-craft drinker, and I have no beef with folks who like that… but Alamo seems to have chosen to deliberately focus all their energy on that front while completely ignoring craft beer drinkers. It’s a bold strategy Cotton, let’s see if it pays off.

The parking lot was full, flooded, muddy, and bumpy. There were also quite a few small children running around. We did one pass around the muddy parking accommodations and decided to not even attempt it; I’m not trying to spend a Sunday in a beer garden surrounded by screaming children.

This place has always provided great service and great live music. Oh; did I mention the food trucks? If and when you and your party decide to came here; you will not disappointed. I really enjoy coming here any time all the time.

I’ve been coming here for months for beer bacon and bingo. They have a ever changing selection seasonal beers. They are all great tasting beers it’s a huge place so bring your friends and your money. It’s reasonable priced. The only down fall is the one food truck so not much of a selection.

Coming from Portland, OR where we are spoiled with incredible microbrews and breweries on every other corner, this place was reminded me of Portland. I had the Black Lager which was full bodied and smooth. I’m usually not a dark beer drinker but this was really good. Good enough I got 2! They do not serve food but they do have a food truck and a food cart on site to order food from. We ordered food from the food truck(which is owned by a disabled veteran — at least that’s what the sign said). The food was just ok and took a really long time to get — but that is the cart, not the brewery. They also had a corn hole game set up and the night we were there they were celebrating Brewfest with an «oompa» band. The guys in the band were all over the age of 50 and it seemed like it was their first time ever performing in public. Most of the songs were so slow I thought they were going to fall asleep in the middle of it. Nonetheless, the beer was good and the experience gave us a memory we will always remember.

Love the atmosphere! You can sit indoors on the covered patio and enjoy a beer and the selection from the food trucks. They do tours and have cool souvenir items. Best of all, it is dog-friendly and have dog treats too!

Pros: Cool environment. Lots of room, inside and out. Cons: Extremely mediocre beer. No IPAs, stouts, porters, or anything even remotely interesting. Dopplebock was ok. My wife doesn’t drink beer so no options for her. Kid friendly, but no changing tables in restrooms. I would say get guest taps for other beer options, but they probably know they’ll be out shined and won’t do it. If you are looking for a cool place to chill, here you go. Good beer? Look elsewhere.

I don’t know why I waited so long to visit this place! It’s delightful! Really good beer, nice beergarten-style seating outside, dog friendly, screens inside for watching your favorite teams, always some kind of event/music going on; this is the place to go for a good, laid back time. I gotta say, too, that when there is not a live band playing, the selection of music they have piped in for ambience is perfect! It’s all the stuff I listened to back in the 90s. Good job, Alamo. Keep it up!

Although Alamo Beer Co. has been open for a few months now, we FINALLY got out there to try it this past weekend. It was a bit tricky to find the place, but once we did we realized they have a HUGE parking lot. The site is right by some train tracks and the Hays St. Bridge, but otherwise there’s really nothing around. It was a blustery cold day for San Antonio, so unfortunately we didn’t get to take advantage of their large outdoor area. Luckily they have plenty of tables inside, though! We had tried ABC bottled beers from HEB and other local liquor stores, so we knew what to expect from their regular offerings. The reason we came to ABC, actually, is because we thought our family might enjoy their Golden Ale. We’ve got two hard core lovers of Bud Light and Coors Light, and we were dead set on opening up their horizons with the beauty of the Golden Ale. It was a Thanksgiving miracle, y’all. They loved it! On top of that, we got to try some of their newer brews, like their Holiday IPA and their Winter Bock. I went for the Horchata Porter(delicious) and then with their Holiday IPA(also delicious). You can’t really go wrong with anything that ABC has to offer. Also on site was Box Street Social food truck, which you can bring inside once you’ve ordered some food to go with your yummy beer. Inside was a phở pop-up, and although it smelled divine we didn’t order any. We didn’t take the tour, although next time I’d like to. The bartenders were super nice and willing to give us samples of whatever. They also have games inside for you to play if you want! Overall we had an awesome experience and can’t wait to go back.

Pretty awesome place. Relaxing and there is indoor and outdoor seating. A large tv is inside for games and a few food trucks come on site. It is dog friendly and the bartenders are friendly. While there is a tent for outdoor seating I don’t know if it’s permanent– I imagine it’d get pretty hot without it at times. Multiple beers to sample, which is nice since usually you only see the Golden Ale at local bars and stores. I would say it is a family friendly environment– plenty of room for kids to run around and a plethora of parking. Definitely one to try and see the iconic Hays St Bridge right above the brewery.

I believe this brewery opened up fairly recently(about 6 months ago?) and I’m very glad that I go to go! It’s a bit difficult to find, and as you’re approaching the brewery, you’re thinking to yourself«am I in the right place.?» Because it seems to be in the middle of nowhere with train tracks crisscrossing every which way. However, just look for a large dark brown building, and you’ll find it! There’s plenty of parking(the big fenced in gravel plot) too. On weekends, they have a variety of(sometimes just 1) food trucks parked around, and the one I tried was really really delicious. They also have live bands, and in between sets they play some fantastic music that really sets the mood: very chill, relaxing, and summer-y. Unfortunately, I didn’t do a tour of the facility. But, I did have their golden ale which I absolutely loved! And I’ve noticed that they sell it at HEB now. Since the brewery is so much closer than downtown, this is going to become a frequent wind down spot of mine.

So, I’ll be honest — their beers are not my favorite. I’m a girl who loves hops, and Alamo sticks with more traditional German beers. But the place itself is SO amazing I can’t wait to go again! There’s indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area has a lot of tables with umbrellas! The building sits right behind the historic Hay Street pedestrian bridge. While you sit and drink your beers, you can look at it — after you finish your drinks, don’t miss the opportunity to walk up to the bridge to check out its great downtown view! There’s a HUGE parking lot, several food trucks, and games just off the outdoor seating area! And the bar is VERY dog-friendly — both inside and outside(the bar even has a bar dog who wanders around saying hi to patrons)! They have events, too — live music, festivals, etc. All in all, this is an awesome place to hang out for a few beers or a few hours! And it’s huge — so it’s large enough to accommodate large groups!!! Don’t miss it!

We have been here twice already and we are in love! The parking lot and the walk to the bar is a little messy because its a dirt field so when it rains its kinda muddy but don’t let that stop you. The bar itself is very modern and cool! They have inside and outside seating and they do not have food but there’s always a food truck there for snacks. We have tried all their beers and they are all good and there’s a good range so they will have something you like. The bartenders are very nice and they even come to your table to check on you all the time, which is great… The one thing that brought us here was not only the beer, but the fact that we can bring our puppy and they even bring a water bowl for him too. Very cool and laid back place

Went this past Saturday with a friend and not too impressed. Good set up with lots of picnic tables that can be enjoyed before the ridiculous heat of SA hits. Not sure what they’ll do when it gets hot but it was nice sitting outside on this Saturday night. Had a live band playing with some old classics but way too loud. I’m not a crotchety old person that says everything is too loud but I like being able to talk to people directly next to me. We had one of the tables furthest from the band and still had to scream while talking. Enough with the layout and music. How was the beer you ask. Horrible! We came on a Saturday night around 7pm when it wasn’t overly crowded. The only beer choice was the Golden Ale. Wait… you’re a brewery and don’t have more than 1 beer to pick from? Thankfully they got another keg later so I was able to try the German pale ale for my 2nd beer. I’m not typically a light beer drinker and both of these were too light for my taste. I like the set up but they have to offer a better selection. Just making sure you have your 4 beers in stock is a simple start.

The Alamo Beer Company has only been open a few months, and I love good craft beer and breweries, so a friend suggested I check it during a recent trip to SATX. Luckily they were open when I wanted to visit(limited hours; see website)…so that was all of the convincing I needed. If you’re not familiar with the area, you might be a little dissuaded when the GPS tells you to turn off the main road, into a vary desolate commercial looking area, and then states turn right at the next… whaaaaat?! And then, there it is! Bright lights emitting in the distance just beyond a fenced in huge dirt lot, under a bridge, past a couple of homeless people(not kidding), up the warped particle board sidewalk, to the tasting room/pour center. Alamo beer has only been open a few months, so I’m certain a lot of this will change/be upgraded/paved, but right now it is a bit«rough.» Skip the heels ladies. Once you made the semi-arduous trek through the dark unknown you will discover a beautiful facility. Nice clean lines, sleek architecture. The actual tanks are housed in a building with lots of glass that sets as the perfect backdrop for the live music being played. To the left, well hidden actual bathrooms(no port-o-poos). Limited indoor seating and draughts to the right with one whole side that opens to the outdoors. And, tons of seating in the outside patio… long benches… so some can be communal if needed. Also, very dog friendly with water bowls provided. The brew sitch: You can either find a seat and wait for service(yeah, that takes a while) or walk right up to the draughts and order. Alamo currently only has three beers to choose from: Pilsner, German Style Pale Ale, and a Maibock; small Pilsner style glass for $ 3, $ 3, & $ 4, respectively, or $ 5.50, $ 5.50, & $ 6.25 for a large mug. They don’t offer flights. Instead, they just suggest you buy one of each of the three small glasses of beer. Um… okay. A bit lame. The Pilsner was quite enjoyable. Smooth, crisp, good finish. My hub enjoyed the GPA. Nice craft beers; however, I wish they had a larger selection(I’m sure they will eventually) and flights would be really nice, particularly during the first visit. Grub stuff: Apparently they have different food trucks on different nights. The evening we went they had one called«Texas Food Truck»(or similar; not very creative) that sold a few choices of simple sandwiches… and the truck was located on the edge of the dark lot, so not very welcoming. I did see a couple tables of peeps with food from other joints(e.g., WingStop), so I guess it’s not frowned on if you BYOFood. Overall: Good beer, really neat buildings. For just opening, they seem to be doing pretty well. Will definitely visit again to make sure they concertedly(pun intended) deserve this 4 star rating — I can clearly see the potential. Until then, cheers for beer!

The brewery is beautiful. It’s also the only local brewery I’ve been to that has numerous stalls and urinals in the bathroom. Yes there are a lot of homeless around the area, but they stayed away from the property when I visited. To be honest, I give the homeless another five years before their pushed out of the area, due to the continuous business and apartment developments springing up. So my group showed up and we weren’t allowed to order at the bar. Literally told to sit down and wait for a server. WTF? I got a half of beer(given my previous distaste for it) and didn’t care for the high-baller glass it was served in. That’s not a beer glass. Although the full pours were served in traditional Oktoberfest glasses, which was cool. Clientele is very calm and everyone seemed to be having a good time. They have a dog park area next to the restrooms and some lawn and board games too. It’s a nice place, but unless I can BYOB, I won’t be going back. Oddly the worst part of Alamo Brewery is the beer. I’ve had the beer in bottles, draft, and at the brewery. It’s just not good.
