Had a cute, quaint lunch here. It’s located off of McCullough, near the back in a set of old railway trains. Inside is very small, but they also have about 5 to 6 large tables on the patio. We were greeted right away by three little kitty’s(outside on the patio) they were very friendly! Not sure who they belong to, but it seems this is their hang out. We nicknamed the little gray one«whispers» because when he meows, his mouth opens up but no sound! On to the food, we ordered right away and waited only about 5 minutes before our food was delivered. The lady who served us(I guess who is the owner) was prepping for a large catering job so she offered us free drinks, chips, and sides because of the inside was full of sandwiches for the job, we had to sit outside.(If you don’t like cats, don’t worry they didn’t bother us while we were eating outside, they just laid down and took a nap while we ate). The sandwiches were great!!! I ordered the challenger, which is a chipotle chicken with an avocado/mayo spread. It was spicy, but not overbearing spicy. My husband ordered the reuben, which was full of meat and a great melt to the cheese. The only thing I would give a negative to was the bread. It seemed a bit dry, like it wasn’t wrapped up. Overall a great meal with a unique location, go check it out and enjoy meeting«whispers»!

Hands down the best sandwich I’ve had in a long time. I had the union, which was bursting with greens and the right amount of meat. They also snuck in some delicious and vibrant aioli and avocado that made the sandwich out of this world. I love this place and will be back asap. Don’t miss out!

Awesome sandwiches! I tried the Union and it was delicious. It was a little pricey for just a sandwich, so I didn’t even bother to make it combo for $ 2 more. Yes, the sandwich was on the larger side, but the side of chips were small and it wasn’t a fountain drink. Also, these items aren’t necessary. I digress… The sandwich was delicious and luckily I was full afterwards. The staff was friendly too. The weird thing about this restaurant was that it was very dingy on the inside. Yes, it’s neat for being inside of an old boxcar, but the whole feel of the place was rundown. The bathroom was pretty gross, too. They had their old mop just lying out as well as an old oven? There were also so random buckets full of water hanging out too… These things have nothing to do with the food, but trust me, they do not make a good impression on your patrons.

While a bit on the small side with only 5 interior tables(but lots of outside seating if you can take the TX heat in the summer), the service is friendly and excellent. While the size of the Reuben for 9.95 wasn’t NY style, it was delicious! The charming exterior of the train car is very cool and unique.

An adorable little deli located in an abandoned train car. Great lunch options. My friends and I enjoyed sitting outside on the patio!

Set up in an old train car off McCullough — this sandwich shop is quaint and delightful. I had the cajun turkey sandwich with a side of cucumber, feta and tomato salad. Everything about this sandwich was fresh — from the soft and sweet challah bread to the generous layer of veggies. I would rank this in my top 5 sandwiches in San Antonio. The staff was friendly and there is plenty of patio seating which makes this a perfect place to grab some lunch.

This initially was a great place that my grandmother and I ventured out to try. The ambience inside is less than good, but outside there is a nice array of tables and the whole idea of being perpendicular to an actual railroad was pretty awesome. The food was good. However, I ordered a turkey sandwich with avocados and there was a CRICKET in it. How gross is that? I am being serious. It was nasty. The ladies were very kind and gave me a refund. But I will surely NEVER return. EEK!

I want everyone to know about this hidden gem! There are closer sandwich shops but this is my go to for lunch during the work week. Not only are the two ladies who run this cute shop pleasant, but everything they serve is fresh and high quality!

Fresh made sandwiches with interesting spreads and delicious home-made? challah bread. This is towards the back of «The Yard» on McCullough. Unusually not busy for a Saturday, I can only assume they do most of their business during the work week. Housed in an old rail car with small seating, so plan on to-go or as we did on the first beautiful day of fall, eat outside on the deck. As if on cue, a real train slowly passed by while we enjoyed lunch.

I’ve been to All Aboard Deli at about a dozen times and have yet to be let down. They use fresh ingredients and Boars Head meat and cheese products(high quality). The two ladies who work there are friendly and courteous. I have tried their vegetarian sandwiches, turkey sandwiches and the grapefruit salad and have been amazed each time. They offer a repeat customer card where you get a free sandwich/salad after 6 or 7 visits. Very well worth it.

Gah! This place is overpriced for what you get. Store bought ingredients. Nothing seemed too fresh. The service wasn’t that great either. The lone employee spent her time chatting on her cell phone with a friend rather than serving hungry customers. The tables inside were piled up with the bread that she picked up at HEB, so we couldn’t sit there. Had to sit outside. Once we were sitting outside, it was as if we were forgotten. The tables had no salt & pepper. No napkins. No utensils to eat the coleslaw with. We paid for the meal with a credit card, and the employee disappeared with the credit card for about twenty minutes while we ate. We had to run inside to retrieve it. The place wasn’t too clean, the tables outside had feral cats on them. This was our only place to eat, since the tables inside were occupied with the HEB store brand ingredients that she was serving us. I don’t know how they sleep at night charging these prices for such mediocrity. I suppose that if you can sleep this close to the train tracks, you can sleep through anything.

It doesn’t matter where they get their ingredients. Any sandwich shop has typical things like deli meats and veggies and most likely gets them from the same place you shop. There’s no deli that has magical meats to set them apart from your local grocery store. It all boils down to what they do with the ingredients and what All Aboard Deli does and how/what they combine is fantastic. They were even nice enough to let me bring a gluten free bun AND came to the Little Aussie Bakery to start supplying their shop with gluten free bread for other customers. The carrot/raisin slaw is simply fabulous and the sandwich combinations are unique. Anyone can make any type of sandwich at home, but this menu has imagination that most people don’t and is wonderful for when you just want someone else to make it!

I stopped in for lunch today since I was in the area and running short on time. Gotta say I was pleasantly surprised by the prompt and courteous service. I was in and out in a matter of minutes. I was also the only person there at the time. The gal at the counter recommended the cajun turkey sandwich so I thought I’d give it a shot. I’m glad I did. A very nice blend of spicy and sweet goodness on a soft challa bread(which I’ve never had before). The price was okay for the size of the sandwich. I’d much rather pay $ 8-$ 10 from a local deli than $ 5 at a national chain. I’ll be going back to try the other offerings. I would like to see some side options other than bagged potato chips.

This deli is in a repurposed train & it’s a lot of fun! It’s back on the left-hand side in the Yard on McCullough. 2 gals run the place & all the sandwiches are made fresh. I always get the special because it’s the best! I’ve never been disappointed! It’s affordable too and you won’t go away hungry!

I wanted to like this place more. I really did. The idea of having shops in the renovated boxcars behind The Yard shopping Center really appeals to me. And I want to do my best to support all of these little, locally owned businesses. But this one just really fell short to me. Let me start by saying that the owner of this shop was incredibly delightful, completely friendly and helpful and pretty excited to have customers. So, as I perused the menu I asked about the different sandwich options and she took the time to help me choose. On paper, the offerings seemed like they could be really tasty and interesting, so I happily ordered Lady On A Train and waited for my order. And waited for my order. And waited for my order. Boy does it take these ladies a long time to make sandwiches. And as Fawn G pointed out, these little boxcars heat up fast. I was there right about lunch time and it was all I could do to stay and wait for my sandwich. But, I had just paid over $ 8 for a sandwich so I wasn’t going anywhere until I got to eat it. Now, I don’t mind paying $ 8 for a sandwich, or even $ 10 or $ 15 if the product is fantastic. But, as I watched the ladies open the very bag of bread I buy at HEB, and then the same little container of alfalfa sprouts, slice up a cucumber and some turkey, I realized I had all of those ingredients in my fridge at any given moment and all can just be purchased at my local grocery store. It was a real turnoff and huge bummer. The sandwich tasted fine, but it was literally all the same things I could make at my house.

I love sandwich shops. I really love when structures are turned into unique buildings like sandwich shops, candle stores and cupcake boutiques. Extra Points for creativity. Although this little deli is adorable with their antique railroad decorations and cleverly named sandwiches, they will need some patient clients(like me) who will give their mom and pop business repeat visits. Extra points for the owner staying open and happily accepting us even though she was behind on the next days soup. She didn’t mind and appreciated our business. My mom, who likes sitting and being served a meal was trying her hardest to switch our decision to eat here. I refused to disappoint or leave with out purchase, so we ordered 3 sandwiches. After waiting several minutes, sweat started to drip from my brow. Boy does it get toasty in those boxcars at 6pm. I decided to get our food to go. There wasn’t much of a view inside with the bar stools facing the wall anyway. The owner delightfully wrapped and bagged our sandwiches and included some perfectly sliced dill pickles with a carrot, raisin, pineapple concoction. All in all a delightful experience. The bread is homemade and all the fixings were very fresh. I had the«lady on a train»(turkey, Havarti, cucumbers, sprouts, tomatoes, greens on honey white bread), mom had«the pacific»(hot-ham melted Havarti, pineapple, cranberries, feta lettuce on focaccia bread), daughter had ham and cheese. I’m excited for the new business! I can’t wait to try the soup.

All Aboard Deli is the most amazing Deli EVER! I love how they use only the freshest meats and perfect breads that compliment each sandwich in its own way. The girls that work there are so sweet too. I love the Club sandwich it is perfect and so yummy! Recommend to your friends because they will not be dissappointed. Ohhh and try their Jack Daniel’s Bread Pudding… TODIEFOR!!!
