Tasty sandwiches served in a quaint converted house located just down the street from the Children’s museum. Be sure to save room for one of their delicious cookies!

I always have to stop here when I’m in the area. I absolutely LOVE this place. It is a great café with really good food. They also give you a very large size amount too. The vintage looking café is a great place for everyone. The book store next door is another vintage store with books that date WAYWAY back in time. I personally can’t believe they still have those books for sale. Great place too. But yes… I do recommend W D Deli to all of my friends. The staff are all really nice and very helpful when you are some what undeceive like I am. :-)

Quick, tasty and affordable, WD Deli is great for a warm afternoon out on the patio or a quiet snack inside. They have a good bit to choose from and the food is always fresh and tasty. The only drawback is that parking can be a bit of a nightmare, so keep that in mind if you’re coming on a Saturday or Sunday when it can get really busy.

I got a regular shmegular turkey sammy on white bread and it was bomb af. I also got tortilla soup that was okay, it was only missing avocado. The lady who rang us up was cool also! Def going back!

Following in the footsteps of many other vintage-home-turned-neighborhood-café-with-eclectic-furniture establishments, WD Deli has proven to be a favorite among those in the Alamo Heights district due to its charming atmosphere and — well — I guess that’s about it. WD’s food is nothing to write home about; however nothing on their menu is a blatant letdown. The too typical sandwiches, soups, salads, sides, and sweets are all offered here, well as every glorious combination of any/all of the above, for just slightly more than you’re honestly wanting to pay for. WD’s employees are energetic and accomodating, expected of a small, loud deli. And their service is pleasant albeit non-personal during peak hours [which seems to be most of the day]. Rating specifics(i.e. 1 – 5, low-high)… — Overall recommendation = 3.25 — Food taste and quality = 3 — Portion size = 3.75 — Price = 3 — Atmosphere = 3.25 — General service = 3 — Waitstaff = 3.75 — Location = 3

The food is fresh and fabulous. However, they charge for plates and utensils even if you spend almost $ 200 on a to-go order! Not that great customer service. For what they charge for a sandwich, they can afford it.

Chicken tortilla soup was delicious, and the sand which I ate(I can’t recall the name) was a lunch special. Service was ok, the cashier charged me twice for meal but the owner quickly reversed the transaction for the duplicate charge. I think it’s funny that there is pictures of drag queens on the wall though.

Food is good. Mac and cheese soup on Friday is my favorite. Pimento cheese sandwich is good as well. Haven’t had anything I wouldn’t have again. Parking and seating can be tight. Get there early for lunch.

3.5 stars I came here after shopping at half price books(next door). I came at lunch hour and there was ample seating outside, quiet enough to read. Everything on the menu looked good. They don’t carry light mayo. Girl at the counter taking my order was not friendly at all. I had to ask her if I wait there for my food or if they call it out. Then, when she gave me a cup for water, I had to wander around to find the station. A little smile and«hello» goes a long way to potentially returning customers. The deli is picturesque outside. The food was decent and came out quickly. I had a turkey avocado wrap which was nothing extraordinary, but it hit the spot. I like that you get your choice of side. I’ll return if I’m ever hungry at half price, but other than that, I wouldn’t go out of the way for it.

W D Deli is a nice local spot, doing what they do. Deli foods, and associated items. It was quality food, a local panera bread, but better. It is good for a quick bite or to enjoy a nice meal. I did enjoy their tea selection. I enjoyed the book store next door as well, a little reading material with my sandwich!

The BEST deli to visit in San Antonio! It just makes you feel like you’re at home with the comfie menu and yummy cookies and cakes. The Tortilla Soup is my go to when I need«medicinal chicken soup» and the Mac & Cheese Soup is just lush. Add a wrap or the yummy Chicken Salad sandwich and you’re set. Just don’t forget the cookies! Wayne and Mike along with their staff make you feel like family eating at one of the tables at home. Ask to see what socks Brandy is wearing!

What a great deli! Food is high quality, fresh, and flavorful. There are many options for vegetarians, vegans, and carnivores. Although the place was packed, we did not wait long in line and we’re almost immediately greeted by staff. I decided to get the special of the day which was a melted Swiss and ham sandwich called the«Garlic Piglet», and it was totally delicious, with just a smattering of Dijon on top! I also got a cup of corn chowder which was pretty good, although not remarkable. The food arrived surprisingly fast and everyone was satisfied! This is a great place to get a filling local lunch on the go.

I love WD Deli! Food is always fresh and tasty. All the breads are baked fresh, meats are local and wholesome, produce is always of the highest quality. I recommend grabbing a cookie– the Black Sea salt butterscotch is a personal favorite, although it is quite salty! They also have a cookie of the month that is always worth a try! I have never been disappointed here, awesome local spot! If you care about the environment and civil rights, I would also recommend WD. They do a great job running a progressive business that caters to professionals, college students, and students of life. Their business model is impressive– I’m very pleased with everything happening here.

Got them Reuben sandwich pretty good, paired with a broccoli and cheese soup. Big enough to fill me up. Wasn’t a fan of the tomato basimi soup, it was pretty weak.

I really wanted to like WD’s Deli, particularly after the character assassination a couple of Alamo Heights breeders engaged in below. So let me clear up something at the start. The owners aren’t mean. The waitstaff is courteous. Children are welcome. A mom was breastfeeding in the restaurant the day I was there. Children were wandering about. Strollers were in plain sight. No one said anything, no one complained or whined or cried. Everyone was fed. So get over it. Now, about the food. I ate there on a Monday. I ordered the Focaccia Supreme sandwich, which was advertised as «Mesquite smoked turkey breast, Swiss cheese, avocado, mayo — all on a tasty herbed focaccia roll.» It cost $ 8.25, so I was looking forward to a treat. What came out was hardly«Supreme.» The focaccia bread was old, cold, dry, and crumbly. The sandwich consisted of a lump of turkey, and a slice of Swiss cheese. That’s it. What could generously be described only as a *hint* of mayo and avocado was on the top slice of focaccia. I mean they may have sprayed it on with an airbrush. What should have been a great sandwich ended up being dry day old bread, dry meat, and a dry slice of Swiss. I used my fork and ate the turkey and cheese slice. Thank God they had free refills on tea to wash it down. At the suggestion of other reviewers, I also tried the carrot cake. It came out on a plate that had chips in it, all around the rim. I guess they’ve never heard of the superstition that serving on chipped plates is unlucky. The cake slice was big, reasonably moist, but again, not freshly made. So to sum it up. Pleasant place, nice owners, pretty unremarkable food. I’ll take some condiment pouches and a knife next time. They have a loyal following, so maybe I’ll be luckier next time… If they get rid of the broken dishes first.

Came here for lunch w/my hungry co-workers and was really fascinated with the décor, sandwiches and that yummy coconut cookie. This was around Fort Sam area so being close to work can make this place our new go to spot for lunch. I had the hot pastrami and my co-workers had the half-a– sandwich combo that either came with soup or salad with a drink the average is about $ 9 – 10. Service was really fast, I really like my pastrami only wish that it came in rye bread… next time though i’ll try their artichoke and mushroom soup cause it smells good and maybe the famous chicken spinach salad sammich. wayyy better than subway or charlies on base for sure.

Hot water so quick even my super mom dishwashing powers couldn’t withstand the temperature this single toilet bathroom sink gives out at your request. Loved the large spacing, handicapped rails by the toilet, mud step stool kept under the sink area, and hanging hooks at the door. Everything you could ask of your local family deli’s bathroom, topped off with encouraging and funny sayings all over the back wall, namely the giant TGIF plaque stating thank god I’m female. Lol Everything from the staff to the layout was uniquely designed and one of a kind. I took plenty of pictures to avoid rambling my review about nothing but décor and stories the pictures of their walls tell you with a glance. The pricing was a couple dollars more than anticipated since I passed on the specials posted as you walk in. Other than a rather skimpy slice of pickle nothing about this place seemed anything less than love and passion for what they do. The taste of my thin tomato soup blew my dang socks off and I almost regret not getting the bowl with my beautifully 3 grilled cheesy sandwich made with love and sourdough bread. 6 Fresh daily brewed variety’s of iced tea(though only unflavoured black came Pre sweetened) and a soda machine covers most peoples drink needs though I did see hot tea listed on a board and spied creamer jugs around the tea indicating coffee goodness available to order. Grabbed a cookie to go and a hello dolly bar for some one on one time after a quick microwaving to melt those beautiful chocolate chips a bit. It almost had me, but in the end I conquered my dessert and left feeling full but happy as hell especially since my dessert was remarkably cheap @ $ 1.50 and obviously house made. Overall the only thing keeping it from being perfect was the old nature of the house on this particularly sucky cold windy day gave a dreary draft to most of the lower floor that my nearly anaemic body didn’t enjoy one bit. Next time I’ll cuddle up cozy with someone and dare to go bold on a dessert medley for our tasting pleasure. Mmm, home baked goodies. Yes. Just yes.

Don’t go here with kids! Owner was totally Rude! Went in with myself and several friends. We happen to have babies with us, all under 1 and all quiet, 2 of which were sleeping in car seats peacefully. We enjoyed an OK lunch, enjoying the freshly brewed herbal iced tea and chatting. Apparently the owner did not like having babies in his restaurant. He cleared our table and ignored us when we repeatedly tried to talk to him, then proceeded to slam our dishes in the bin. He then stared at us until we decided to leave. When one child laughed loudly, the other workers stared us down as well. Wow! I will say that the food wasn’t even that spectacular. The cookies were great but the actual food was just not impressive. Had better tortilla soup just about everyhwere in San Antonio — doesn’t even hold a candle to the tortilla soup at rosarios. Salad was lukewarm and I could make that chicken salad at home.
