The ribs, brisket, and sausage were great, but the Mac N’ Cheese was my favorite! Good BBQ sauce and great selection and specials of beer for such a small place, but great patio atmosphere. A little higher end pricing for BBQ, but that’s probably because of the location. Have been going since«re-opening» and back multiple times and plan to go again.

This is amazing brisket with a crispy salt and pepper crust. They have a large outdoor seating area and a nice ‘dive’ atmosphere. Great for local beer and delicious Texas BBQ. Their BBQ sauce is spicy and delicious. They also have big red ribs, assorted other meats, and some sandwiches… but the brisket is far and away the only reason to eat here.

Though this restaurant seems to be run down and low quality, it is the opposite. The workers are very friendly and fast. The food is delicious! A few options but they are all incredible. Give it a chance. You won’t regret it.

My girlfriend and I dropped in after leaving«Hot Mess». By the time we arrived here I was hungry. Not only for some good food but for a lot less attitude from someone taking my money.(See my hot joy review) I ordered the baby back ribs, green chili mac and cheese and jalapeño poppers. The poppers were crazy good and decent sized. The mac and cheese was yummy and cheesy and the ribs were amazing. These folks were the only reason I had a good night out after my encounter earlier in the evening. I will definitely be back for the good beer and great food.

I came at a bad time due to the gaming convention going on and tourist are trying to get their hands on anything dealing with Texas BBQ; and I don’t blame them. I git here and all they left was sausage. Of course I was bummed but the lady was so nice and understood what I was feeling and accommodated me. The food was great and I actually got to get some chicken w/Mac N Cheese, baked beans, and kool-aid. The BBQ sauce was at a whole other level. They have 2 types I enjoy the more pepper looking one. Over all I give this place a 5 because of their hospitality and truly seem to try and fulfill everyone’s order with every scrap of meet they can salvage.

Been wanting to try this place for quite some time and finally made it out on a recent sunny Friday afternoon. My friend and I got there around 4:30 and I was happy they still had brisket. It’s your typical real BBQ place where you order a la carte meat by pound and sides. They also offer sandwiches, but we came for the GOODS! We got ½ pound brisket, turkey and the green chile mac and cheese. AMAZING, AMAZING, and AMAZING!!! The brisket was so moist, flavorful and melted in our mouths! The turkey was so moist and tasty as well. The mac was rich and delicious! This was WAY more than enough food for 2 people! They had a great craft beer selection and a friendly staff! There is a little seating inside and a bar, but it was such a nice afternoon we sat outside on one of the picnic tables to enjoy our feast! After we ate we walked to Friendly Spot but came back an hour or so later for one more beer and found a much different evening crowd vibe inside. Everyone was chill and ready to have a good time. I never meet strangers and enjoyed chatting up some peeps to close out our night on a natural high. OFCOURSE I’ll be back!

Having the Southtown sampler sandwich. Smoked sausage, jalapeño poppers and chips on a bun Brisket was good

Upping my review to 5 stars! When I came to B&D the first time, I was quite impressed. It blew our panties clean off this time! I had a friend visiting San Antonio for the first time from South Carolina and, naturally, I had to feed her some good Texas BBQ.(I saw that South Carolina bullshat BBQ… nuh uh!) We ordered up a half pound of brisket, cole slaw, and potato salad(only $ 15 and change!!! At a Dady joint?! Oh yeah!) The brisket was indescribably good! Perfectly seasoned and carcinogined up(adding that word to the English language)…super tender and smoky… I even mowed down the amazing fat. My friend is a health freak and it broke my heart to see her cutting off the fat. so I dropped word to her that it’s fat worth eating. A few bites later, she said«damn, you’re spot on about that fat» and ate it all. Weeks later, she’s still talking/dreaming about the brisket. The BBQ sauce is a peppery medley of amazing flavors and a perfect condiment. The cole slaw was meh, but nicely vinegar-y and brought a great texture to the party. The potato salad is some of the best I’ve ever had… we are both big cooks and couldn’t guess the key ingredient. Argh! DEF order it up. I’ll be back… very soon… go get you some.

Amazing BBQ! The employee’s are so nice. Food is spectacular. Try the beef brisket, Mac n cheese and bacon wrapped jalapeños. Best little hole in the wall place. Will be back before we leave this town.

I came here to see if anyone else had experienced the dried brisket and overuse of seasoning. Turns out this is a frickin pandemic with this place. The brisket was super dry. Like — left out on the counter overnight and go to bed — dry. And it could’ve used a bit more smoke. The seasoning was overpowering and the bark was surprisingly soggy. How do you even do that?! Soggy bark and dried out meat? The sides are a little better but still overpowered with salt and seasoning. I really hoped that the Dady Bros. would get this one right. This is a terrible representation of what Texas BBQ is and should be. And for the Southtown price markup, it better be dammmmmn good. I’m sick and tired of this trend of these gentrified über hip eateries opening up around downtown that fall short on quality. This could be such a gem for that area but the execution is all wrong.

The only good thing I had was an A&W root beer. The brisket was as dry as a dead dingo’s donger! It crumbled! I’m not a meat-ologist or nothing but I don’t think it should do that. I ordered too much hoping to have the leftovers for dinner but I made the best decision of my life and threw it away.

This place was awful! The meat was over seasoned and dry. My husband is a big guy and eats a big plate, we threw most of the food in the trash. The season was way too much, it was terrible. The Mac in cheese was like box Mac n cheese. The only thing that was good was the tea and the gentleman at the register was welcoming. If you want BBQ this is not the place to go. My husbands family raises their own cattle so we know a little about meat. We will never go here again. You should be able to taste the meat not over power it with seasoning and over cook it.

Eat here! That’s it, just eat here! The brisket is great. The BBQ sauce is above all others for my tastes. The brisket is killer, really, it is. The baby rack ribs ate good, not great. A little tough. two more hours ON the smoker is needed. The choice is great, really. Try it. The patio had the casual ambience people like me need to unwind. I love the patio. Eat here. In the overall had the ribs been cooked more they get five stars. Gotta go, I’m buying some of their BBQ sauce.

This place is spot on! No fancy here, but a lot of great beers and great bbq! Their brisket Frito pie, jalapeño Mac and cheese, and brisket are my top pics. Also don’t forget their bbq sauce, it’s one of the best I have ever had!

This summer I spent a considerable amount of time searching for the best BBQ. Alas I have found and confirmed B&D as the best around. The chef here, henceforth called«El Hoffa,» for his Dustin Hoffman looking grin is very attentive and makes it a point to know your name and come out to greet you. Now on to the important stuff… the salt and pepper Brisket is simply amazing. You could eat this without sauce since it is tender and tasty BUT the sauce is a gourmet black pepper smokey sauce and delicious. They also have a great green pepper Mac and Cheese. The baked beans are in kind of a smokey sauce. Everything all goes together. The restaurant is in Southtown in an old eclectic building with lots of patio tables and a smaller inside dining room with some nice craft beers on tap.

After several months.. We are back again.. Bar b que is great as always, nice to enjoy the atmosphere out when it’s a cooler evening in San Antonio. Staff is always friendly. My mac wasn’t as good this time but no worries we’ll be back to try again. The mac was cold and dried out.

Tried this place last night after seeing bit on WOAI. Husband ordered half rack Big Red ribs– no flavor. I ordered brisket– all fat. Green chili Mac n Cheese… Unsalted and no flavor. For $ 37 for two, will go somewhere else for dinner and drink the cold beer here. May try again but will ask for LEAN brisket and fresh bread, not day old bread.

Good solid bbq. I have had the chicken, the sausage, and the brisket. All have been served hot and tasty. The place is a little on the pricey side though. They have a good selection of beers that includes many Texan craft beers. There is happy hour before 4 p.m. Staff is friendly and service is prompt. Outdoor seating is nice. There is also a bar and tables inside.
