Excellent tacos, quick service, and relatively cheap prices! I had a big order for my employees, and they did not disappoint. Working in Alamo Heights, it’s hard to get REAL tacos, and they are not a far drive away! We will definitely be ordering from them again.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in san Antonio. Mom and pop hole in the wall but definitely amazing authentic food. The breakfast is awesome but my favorite dish is the menudo! Great service, price and of course food!

My family found ourselves walking into Chapala Taco House on a recent Sunday afternoon when there was not a table to be found at nearby Thousand Oaks Café. We all settled on breakfast tacos, and we all agreed that they were fresh and delicious. Order one of your favorite combos or try one from the menu – Eric and I especially liked the Oli’s taco(bean, cheese, bacon & guacamole). I recently opted for the Huevos Divorciados plate and found the platter of over easy eggs with 2 different salsas, bacon, beans and potatoes to be terrific. And the price is better than right. Try the corn tortillas – they are fresh and delicious – although my kids prefer flour and claim them to be winners, too.

They have a great variety of tacos that I had a hard time picking what I wanted, so I ended up getting the beef fajitas. The plate was pretty average and lacked some flavor in my opinion. They serve the fajitas with rice and beans. I’m not a fan of beans, so I can’t tell you how they were since I didn’t touch them. The rice however was really good and finished it all. That’s all I could say about the plate because the beef fajitas were just a little too stiff and I had a hard time just chewing through it. It’s not something I’ll ever order again but I would definitely give the place an other chance. Word of advice, order some tortillas! They’re home made and really great. They have flour and corn ones. Their lemonade is really great too!

This place is great. The people at the front desk are super friendly and provide speedy service. They recheck their orders making sure they don’t mess up. The quality of food is great and very authentic. The best part is the price.

Got a large order of breakfast tacos for our work crew today, and I was kinda disappointed. First of all, I’m really glad I got this order to go, because I think it’s probably about 90 degrees inside. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Secondly, their hot sauce is not very good. I asked the lady to include both red(tomato) and green(tomatillo) sauce with our tacos, which isn’t asking much since we ordered 15 tacos. When I got the bag, there was 1 red sauce and a handful of green. The red sauce was alright, but the tomatillo was less than mediocre. It had a bit of heat to it, but was totally lacking in flavor. Lastly, the tacos themselves. My colleagues and I frequently get breakfast tacos – we are basically addicted. And all of us pretty much agreed that the tacos we had today were nothing special. For instance, there was almost no bacon in the bacon & egg tacos. And though I will commend them for the chorizo not being a greasy mess, I’m sorry to say that it had almost no flavor. How does that even happen with chorizo? It’s a shame, because this place is right down the street from us, but we won’t be back.

This is our go to place for Mexican food. I would have given it a 5 stars if it was open for dinner! They have the best guacamole salad that is super cheap and delicious. Their chips and salsa are amazing and the service is great.

This place is just average. Absolutely nothing to write home about. I came here for breakfast with my son one morning after seeing it for years and had high hopes. What came out of the kitchen was just standard Mexican breakfast with very little flavor. The staff is friendly, and the food is fine, it is just not memorable and not worth going back(for me), given all the other options.

We used to come here on a regular basis when we lived right around the corner although my husband picked up tacos to go more often. Fast and Friendly. Homemade Tortillas! This visit I came in because I knew they had tamales and I had a craving so I decided to give them a try. Well the tamales were frozen so I decided to grab my usually Chilaquiles for a review while I wait for the tamales to steam. Even though the chips didn’t look like much, they were perfect in flavor with an airy crispness. These were homemade! Two sauces of green and red with green being my favorite. The Chilaquiles with refried beans and sautéed potatoes with onions and peppers are a top contender for a repeat visit. Now for the tamales… Just ok… As much as I applaud them for making their own, it’s not the perfect tamale that I am in search of… Thankfully the server packed up some green sauce for me which added a nice needed heat and I really appreciate her thoughtfulness.

I thought the food was pretty good although they didn’t get my friend’s order completely correct. She asked for cheese enchiladas and got chicken. I was a bit confused when we went in since it looks like a take out– sit down combo and we wanted to eat in but didn’t see any waitresses, but when we did get seated and served, I thought the waitress and cashier were both quite friendly.

Tortillas are fresh and homemade! Corn tortillas are my fave. This is my favorite place for Mexican breakfast. The divorced eggs are delicious, salsas are good. Egg tacos are about $ 1.35, meat tacos about $ 2.00. Everything is very reasonably priced. No fountain drinks, sodas are in can. Wait staff is friendly but could be more attentive.

Both the enchilada sauces, green and red, are amazing. Quite possibly the best I’ve had. Like everyone’s said before, the corn tortillas are delicious. The waitresses are all super friendly. I haven’t been here enough to be considered a regular YET but I’ve noticed other customers who must come in often and the waitresses remember names, children, and what you’ve been doing in your life. Overall you can just feel a nice warmth coming from the employees. Definitely recommend this place at least once but do watch out for the pot holes the parking lot is rather rugged.

This is one of those little places that isn’t necessarily doing something you’ve never [tasted] before; it’s just that they’re doing it just right. The tortillas are just right. The hot sauce is just right. The limonada is… just…right. You’ve got the classics, and done well. You’ve got a clean, friendly atmosphere, with no-nonsense staff. My only complaint is the parking is a little weird, jammed onto a pothole-filled hill, but that’s not enough to talk me down from my 5 stars. I haven’t eaten my way around the entire menu yet, but I feel confident suggesting this is a place Goldilocks would take the three bears when they come for a visit. ¡buen provecho!

Dear Chapala Taco House, I love you and my life wouldn’t be the same without you. I can’t move away from San Antonio because I can’t see a future without your precious breakfast tacos. Consistently well done, time and time and time again. It’s the epitome of comfort food and a taste that will always remind me of home. Kudos to Nora and all the other ladies there who work so hard all the time to make sure that I have tacos and that my coffee is full :)

New favorite breakfast taco place. The iced tea was good. Service fast and friendly. Salsa sufficiently spicy and homeade. Happy to give you a to go cup… I love all these things. Oh, and the tacos were good too. Great mom and pop place. Will be back!

I’ve only been here once so far, but I think I’m in love with the salsa verde, and I’m not a salsa verde kind of guy. The flower tortillas were perfect, IMHO: just the right thickness, chew and flower-laden exterior. Chorizo had all the right flavors, and wasn’t greasy one bit. Refried beans were(surprisingly) fresh tasting. Papas had as many onions, tomatoes and peppers as they did actual potatoes, and complimented the beans(and eggs, and everything else) really well. $ 5 credit card minimum can be a challenge to meet ;)
