Awful. I didn’t even get to eat here. Called and made a reservation at 5:30 pm and when we arrived they told us it would be another 20 – 30 min. Um what? So what was the point of a reservation? They took walk ins that had actually taken our table making the people who had actually made a reservation wait to be seated. Terrible way of doing business.

I’ll begin with the single positive note of the night– our food was fully cooked, and our cook was very polite– he even refilled our drinks when our waitress was no where to be found. I made reservations for 7:00 to take my mother and boyfriend for a nice Mother’s Day dinner. We got there a little early, expecting the restaurant to be crowded and the hostess up front didn’t seem to have a clue what she was doing– she told us we’d be seated in «maybe» twenty minutes, never verified the reservation, and then walked away to help someone from the kitchen. We walked next door and came back twenty minutes later– 7:10 and she looked flustered as she said«oh yeah, I think there’s a seat for you». She sat us at a table, and came back five minutes later asking us to «move down to the end so if she had to she could put more people next to us». Because they couldn’t sit at the end of the table? It took 15 minutes for a waitress to come get our drink order, they were out of rib-eye steak(that my boyfriend wanted to order) to-go boxes and clean forks. We ate our dinner with plastic forks they found in the back. Our cook didn’t begin preparing the food until 8:00, an hour past the reservation, and when it was time to pay, it was another 30 minutes for the waitress to bring the check, us to make the correction of having to getting the rib-eye that was on the check removed because we had to order something else when we discovered they had run out– and asking for our card to be given back after she had kept the checkbook with her for 20 minutes, walking around the restaurant. The floors were very dirty, with bits of fat from the meat the cooks don’t serve just lying around and the hostess almost gave us used, unclean plates from a pile up front instead of the cleaned plates in a pile right next to it. I realize that it was Mother’s Day and it was semi-busy so I can understand some of these issues, but the staff overall just didn’t seem to care and ruined the night. Service reflects management so I can only assume this is part of the issue. The overpriced food was decent enough to warrant a possible return trip, but combined with the attitudes of the staff, it’s enough to discourage me from ever coming back. I’m especially disappointed because I could’ve taken my mom somewhere that is actually nice for dinner and instead, wasted our time here.

We had reservations at 6:00 and did not get seated until almost 6:30. The chef did not come to the table to cook our dinner until after 7:00. The waitress finally came and took our drink order and came back with the other parties drinks and our kids drinks and said she didn’t have enough room for mine and my husband’s drinks. Then she disappeared and never came back with our drinks. Another guy named Brian finally came and asked if we had been helped, got our drinks and took our order. If not for Brian we would have gotten up and left. I cannot believe that people run their business this way. If someone has reservations you should be able to seat them fairly close to the arrival time. We were trying to support a local business and were completely disappointed.

I’ve been here about 10 times in the past 3 years or so. The service is always ok, nothing stellar but still good. They have about 3 or 4 menus which I wish they would condense but there is a lot to choose from. The seaweed salad is always crunchy and good. The rolls are also very good. Never a fishy taste, now… is this going to be as good as Japan or on the coast, NO. But you are in middle of Texas so it’s good considering the location. I’ve had much worse in the area so this is my top place for this area of town. I will say that their mixed drinks are crappy, it’s usually a mix of some sort and poor quality. If you drink here I would stick to the sake or beer.

We went to eat sushi. It was nothing special at all. The sushi was expensive too. I have tried several places in the city and this one was probably worse than the stuff you get a HEB. So don’t waste your money here just stop off at HEB to get your fix.

Worst meal I’ve ever had here! We waited about 10 minutes just to be seated, and then waited at the grill for over half an hour. The server came twice in that time, the second time I asked for some more ice for the warm ice tea and you would have thought I asked for gold. Once the cook did get to us all he talked about was how he hoped we we’re going to give him a good tip. I also didn’t get my sushi until right as the cook got there, about 15 minutes after the rest of the table did, and I never got the steamed rice that I reminded then about. They only had 3 servers(that I saw) and the cook we had was the only working that night. I understand that it is a Tuesday, but come on!

It’s gone downhill since opening. Sticky floors and slow service. Food is good but the service is a 3.

Food was amazing. Cleanliness still leaves a little to be desired as the glasses were a little greasy. And they kept mixing sprite in with our water. Still it is a new place and look forward to trying it again.

First time here and it was great! Iban not a sushiblover and all but I tried their tiger roll and my husband got the ninja roll. Both were amazing, although I loved my husbands choice much better. We will definitely be returning to this place soon.

I was given a totally different order than what I originally ordered. I tried to call(and even now as I write this it is still 8:51pm and they are still open) but they have switched their phone off. Last call was at 8:39pm and I tried from two different numbers. I ordered Sushi story B which on their website says Rainbow roll and 7 pieces of assorted nigiri for $ 25. I got what is in the picture I am posting along with this. This is not what I wanted and I really do not like rolls. I was willing to try the rainbow roll because I would have nirigis with it. I posted on their fb but from what I see they have had other complaints which were never addressed. I am upset about this due to what I paid and what I got. Will try to call again tomorrow and see what they say.

We just returned from here. Went for lunch today using my Groupon. It was delish! My husband had the combo rice, I had the chicken fried rice and my daughter had the spicy octopus rolls. Yum Yum, Yum! My husband isn’t a asian food eater, but he ate his down to the last drop! Our waiter was very helpful and answered all our questions. Husband and I will be returning… Without the kid!

I’ve eaten here a few times, sad to say only when I purchase a Groupon, which makes it a great deal. Service is pretty good, not happy with it being so dark inside though. I always get the soft shell crab as an appetizer because it’s delicious. Lightly fried in tempura batter and seasoned very well, the sauce goes perfectly with it. I ordered the Korean BBQ lunch, it was hardly Korean and overwhelmingly covered with carrots and onions. The salad which comes with it was drenched in dressing, so I asked the waiter for an extra bowl of lettuce and still didn’t help. I couldn’t even eat it, which was disappointing because the dressing is amazing. The use to have the lunch bento box style with the entrée, rice, salad, 2 California rolls, 2 Gyoza and soup. Now it’s just an entrée, rice and either soup or salad. It’s still a lot of food but the bento box gave you a variety and was good. I’ll still go back because the Groupon is such a good deal, however, I’ll stick to my normal dish.

My fiancé chose this place for a recent date. The Alamo Ranch area has so many new places popping up, so why not try some, right? We walk in and were greeted quickly to a table. While we didn’t choose it, there is an option to have your dinner cooked right on the griddle by a personal entertainer/chef. For the appetizers, we chose the Ninja Rolls, Gyoza, & I think it was spicy peppercorn tuna roll(but don’t quote me). Everything was perfect with the gyoza– fried, crunchy, seasoned filling, yum. The rolls were good, not great, but I must say the fine folks here are heavy handed worth the sauce on top of the rolls. I suppose I’m just used to light drizzles as that is typically more appealing. For my entrée, I ordered the chicken yakisoba. I enjoyed this dish– the chicken was moist, sauce evenly distributed throughout, the noodles had«bite» to them, and veggies were crunchy. My only complaint was the sauce was a little on the sweet side. My fiancé had pork katsu. He ate his right up and was unhelpful in his description saying only«mine was way better than yours.» He’s a difficult guy to please so… I’d say it was a good choice. One thing I didn’t enjoy about this experience was battling these two flies that, for whatever reason, wanted to fly into our drinks and sushi(despite other full tables with food). It was irritating, and we had to be vigilant, but food was still OK. All in all, this is a 3– nice service, decent food, okay sushi. If it’s near you, try it out.

Best pork katsu in San Antonio and the rolls were pretty good. Shrimp yakisoba had a lot of flavor and yummy. Also ordered a spider roll that’s another big hit

I went in here for lunch and it was very empty. Only two or three other tables were seated. The service was amazing and the food was good — no bad things to say about the place. Overall a really decent place to go.

My husband and I have tried this place three times. We love all kinds of sushi, but prefer more traditional rolls and I’m a sucker for good sashimi. The addition of a teppanyaki is great to bring some friends who aren’t fond of sushi or a good option if you don’t feel like sushi. Since we could eat sushi multiple times a week, this review is ONLY for the sushi bar and service. Over all the food is pretty good, but it isn’t anything special. It is very close to our house.(We have driven farther for worse sushi.) I have been very happy with their sashimi selections and combos and my husband always finds several rolls he likes. Unfortunately we have had 3 bad experiences with service. The first time we went in was the week they opened. Their staff seems unaccustomed to the menu and things didn’t flow very well. I believe our server was new and we took that into account when making our judgment about the place so we tried again. The second time we weren’t helped for 15−20mins and service continued to be slow. The last time, we watched my husband’s roll sit on the counter for 20 minutes until we finally told someone who looked like they were the manager. Our waiter had completely disappeared for those 20 minutes. The 3 stars are mainly for food… Service would rate one and a half. In the end, I will not be able to convince my husband to go back again. We now drive further, go less often and pay more for sushi.

My wife and I visited this new location for lunch the other day and left not quite impressed with what we ordered. The lunch special was 2 of their«House Rolls» for $ 7.99. The special came with miso soup but no drink. My wife asked for the tuna roll and salmon roll while I got their crunchy roll and California roll. I will preface my review by informing you that my wife is Japanese and I have lived in Japan for 8 years. OK, so my wife’s first impression of her rolls was that the rice was a bit hard. I didn’t so much notice that but for Japanese, rice needs to be perfect. I doubt many non-native Asians would have a similar comment but who knows. What I noticed about the rolls is that they weren’t rolled tight enough. It took considerable effort to hold each piece together for it’s dip in soy sauce and delivery to your mouth. She agreed that the rolls needed to be tighter. Taste wise, they tasted all right but I’ll accept avocado in a maki roll… The décor is quite nice. They have 2 or 3 tepanyaki grills(can’t quite remember) and an adequate number of tables. The restaurant is quite bigger than it looks from the outside. During the weekday lunch rush, at least on Friday when we visited, they were doing a brisk business and we took a late lunch. I can only assume that they’re quite busy during the peak of their lunch rush. Overall, the rolls tasted ok but the rice needed to be better prepared and they needed to be rolled tighter. The miso soup was spot on. The interior is quite nice and the staff was moderately attentive. If you’re in need of some Japanese food, this is the only game in the Alamo Ranch area for the time being. There is another Japanese place, Kumori(cloudy) opening up in one of the units in front of Target but they’re still renovating the interior. Give Hon Machi a shot and unless you’re very discerning, you should be ok with your meal.
