I went looking for phở and they only had 2 selections too choose from. it’s of a Chinese restaurant then a Vietnamese restaurant. But the spring rolls were the best I’ve ever had!

Their menu veers more on the Chinese side than it does Vietnamese. I haven’t tried everything on their menu, but the items I have tried are disappointing. I’d rather go to Pei Wei. The ONLY thing good about this restaurant is their fried springrolls. As for service, it’s never been bad. I’ve been in large groups, and usually we’re the only ones there and service has been good. And my food(spring rolls, bc that’s the only thing I ever order here now) are always ready when I arrive, and someone is always available to take my money with very little delay.

The food is nice and fresh, comes out pretty fast. It looks like a traditional Asian restaurant, which is fun. The prices for lunch and even dinner are really affordable, and the servings are pretty decent. My family and I go at least once a week, it’s that good. Our faves are the veggie plate, the wonton soup, lemon chicken, and lemon grass chicken plates. Gotta try it at least once!

Clean. Quite. Peaceful. Service was ok. Food average. I had the shrimp and vegetables. Some areas of the vegetables were cold leading me to believe some were frozen and i prefer fresh. For the price of 6.99 i got what i expected, nothing spectacular.

Three stars for the food… have had better, but it is decent. The customer service while placing a to-go order… that’s completely a big fat ZERO!

Not bad food, but the service was not great. We had to wait to be seated while none of the staff was even busy. The waiter seemed more interested in watching the tv than being a waiter, although he did show the couple of ladies seated next to my husband and I a great deal of attention. He walked by us twice with the water pitcher and asked them if they wanted refills then just put the pitcher back like we weren’t even there, and they received there food before us when they ordered after us. I would give one star but I genuinely did like the lemon chicken, fried rice, and egg roll. Will I be back? I don’t know…

Tried the Phở. Not impressed. The soup was not made overnight and the beef was tough. Did not have the beef tendons or tripe, just over cooked chunks. The soup was not served with basil and the fish sauce was weird.

Very good spring rolls and the vermicelli and beef was quite good, but not spicey, as advertised. Good tea too. Service was quick. The place was packed for lunch; we will be back.

This was so disappointing. I love Vietnamese food and have eaten a lot of it in some of the best places. I lived in Houston for seven years for crying out loud. They didn’t have charcoal pork, their lunch menu was a travesty and the service could have been better. I will not be back.

I came here for lunch, found that the service here was on a scale of 1 – 10; this place was a Meier 3 and I feel I am giving alot at that. The rice here was yellow, and the veggies tasted old. The price for the food had to be as bad as the service. I normally do not give such bad reviews. However when it comes to food and restaurants customer service is my prime area of complaint.

I had been going here for yrs, the service is off and on, very off when the ex-wife is there which is where the rubber meets the road and I will not be returning! I was there on a particularly busy day, I ordered my usual Phở noodle soup with«rice noodles»!!! well upon 1st sip, I knew I had encountered Ramen noodles of the wrong kind… not rice like I had ordered. Again, it was quite busy and I couldn’t get Tom the waiters attention to tell him my order was wrong, so I continued eating as I had to return to work. Well finally, when Tom brought my bill I explained to what happened, not asking for a refund or anything just informing him of the ramen noodle foil. Well he said Oh no, its rice noodles, I said Tom I know rice from ramen and this is ramen… it changes the taste of the soup! He says well its probably a different brand. Whatever, rice, ramen, egg noodles I know the difference. Here come Ex-wife, peering in the bowl, making a scene and saying«it rice noodle, I tell by the color» Well I tell by the taste! But I pay and leave. Two weeks later I come back, order the same Phở soup with rice noodles and it was great! As I was preparing to pay and leave, one of the regular customers called me over and told me how rude and indignant they were towards me when I left the last time, talked about me badly. I can assume that behind closed kitchen doors, many things are said about customers but to be on the floor making rude remarks because an error was politely brought to their attention is totally not worth my time, $, or desire for them to remain open. They May not care about this review because they obviously don’t care about good customer service, so for me I take my money and self respect to those who at least fake that they appreciate it. Thanks Kim Tran for eliminating you from my lunch tab! I’ll make my own ramen noodles when I want RAMEN noodles.

WORST … negative 5 stars… The worst noodle soup(phở)… In the world. Foods had no flavor. They should not be in a restaurant business if they can not cook simple noodle soup. WHAT A WASTEOFTIMEANDMONEY… STAYAWAYPEOPLE.

My family really loves Kim Tran. Of course the kids love the lemon chicken and fried rice. The spring rolls, hot and sour soup, won ton soup, and vietnemese lemongrass noodle salad are deleicious. This restaurant is in the neighborhood of my Mother and Father in law so we go quite often.

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years. Great spring rolls. Stick to the Vietnamese menu unless you are a big fan of Cantonese.

Not good phở. Taste like something that’s out of instant noodles. Also tried the fried rice. It was okay. Had better. Wont be going back here. Didn’t taste good at all

A group of us went here on a whim recently after another nearby Vietnamese restaurant was closed. Disclaimer: I consider myself somewhat of a Vietnamese food snob after living in New Orleans for four years and eating some very delicious and authentic Vietnamese food there. Now on to the review. I really would have rather saved myself the calories from this meal. Kim Tran serves both Chinese and Vietnamese food(which always makes me a little nervous anyway), and we ordered a mixture of both. The crab rangoons were fine(I feel it’s hard to mess up fried cream cheese), although the sweet dipping sauce which came with it was almost jelly, and I don’t mean that in a good way. The fried spring rolls were just ok; they had a funny flavor that I couldn’t put my finger on, and they certainly weren’t the best in town. My lemongrass chicken bun(noodle bowl) was not great. The chicken was either twice cooked or had been sitting out for way too long, because it was so dry it was almost inedible even after soaking it in a double serving of nuoc mam. The noodles themselves were fine. Other dishes at the table included some sub-par phở bo(my husband commented it was the only phở he’s ever had that needed salt), and a Chinese beef and rice dish which was apparently were all the missing salt had gone. We all left the restaurant feeling gross. The only upside — the staff was appropriately attentive. If you’re looking for good Vietnamese food in SA, save yourself the trouble and just drive to Vietnam on Broadway.

Food is ok. If you are hungry it’s not bad. Some of the food tasted like it has been sitting under a hot lamp for a day or two. Sweet n sour sauce tasted like it came from a box. Pepper steak like salty pieces of soy sauce jam with cuts of bell pepper and onion. I think the best part of our dinner was the ice water.

When I order spring rolls off a Vietnamese menu, I expect vermicelli in wrappers, not a fried roll. My «spring roll» was fried. It was, admittedly, tasty, but not what I wanted or expected. The soup was bland and no amount of adding stuff from the condiment turntable would help that. The bored waitstaff could do their boss a favor and use the time they spend twirling their hair to instead wipe off those sticky jars and bottles on the condiment turntable.

My family and I have been going to Kim Tran’s Vietnamese Restaurant for years. They have a very good menu that includes your standard Americanized chinese food and also excellent authentic Vietnamese cuisine. My personal favorites are the lemongrass chicken noodle bowl, crab and asparagus soup and the spring rolls. Not to be confused with summer rolls, the spring rolls at Kim Tran’s are stuffed with meat(pork?), rice noodles, and carrots, fried, and served with lettuce, cilantro and fish oil. They come two per order and are cut into pieces, making them a perfect appetizer to share with the table. The crab and asparagus soup is delicious — the base is similar to egg drop soup and includes plenty of crab! A bowl of this soup and an order of spring rolls are one of my favorite«crap day» meals and always satisfy! Kim Tran has recently changed locations into a brighter storefront facing Eisenhauer Road. Open weekdays until about nine and Saturdays for lunch and dinner, this restaurant has some of the best food and service I’ve experienced in San Antonio.
