My family comes here to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, etc. They have a wide variety of food for an affordable price. I always hit the Mongolian grill and sushi bar first! Very friendly staff and they offer military discount.

First off the place is decorated really well, and the customer service was great. My husband and I where greeted upon entry and escorted to our booth. They took our order and explained to us the dinning process, which isn’t very complicated seeing as though its a buffet. Our waitress brought out our drinks right away also. The food was phenomenal, but choose the time you go wisely its close a military base, and the troops love them some good food.

It was good but pricey they charge adult price for my 8 and 11 kids who eat maybe 1 plate and they wouldn’t tell us how old is kids until after we ate. Trying to rip people off!

Best Chinese buffet in San Antonio that I’ve been to so far. The food was very good. The tea was awesome. I’d come back more often if I wasn’t pregnant.(Scared of food born illness) I’d recommend this place to anyone!

It was good for a Chinese buffet but im not sure how great these places are supposed to be. it has a station for mongolian, dessert, salad and hot items. lots of seafood on the buffet for dinner and even a chocolate fountain and ice cream. Food was edible but nothing to write home about. Like I said it was good for what it was.

This place is all a Chinese Buffet needs to be, and no more. I can’t find a way to review this adequately, but I can give you the finer points: They offer a military discount. While there’s the usual Chinese food, there’s also BBQ and chicken nuggets. While service is really on the edge of nonexistent, the food is great. There’s a little build-your-own grill offering, a chocolate fountain & a sushi section that while minimal is actually tasty for the buffet game. I have also seen small older women with loaded plates of crab legs. I’m not personally interested in buffet seafood, I live dangerously enough in their sushi department, but if you like a flat rate for such things, eat here.

We are definitely not buffet people but I was craving crab rangoons on a huge scale and so we ventured over to King Buffet on a busy Sunday afternoon. Boy was this place packed! There were people everywhere, you could hardly move. Totally worth it though! First we visited the Mongolian grill portion of the buffet. This is worth the cost of admission alone! Loads of fresh veggies and meats to choose from, along with a few sauces. While not perfect, I certainly would go at it again. Typically Mongolian Grill type restaurants charge by the bowl, so you feel you have to stuff your bowl as full as you can get it. Here, trips are unlimited and you can arrange your meal however you choose. It can be as healthy(or unhealthy) as you want! I tried a few other things on the buffet, the standard crab rangoon, eggroll, and some of the dessert items. Huge bonus on the chocolate fountain and marshmallows! We will definitely return!

My partner and I visited on a Wednesday evening and paid $ 10.99/person for all you can eat, which was a great deal. They had shrimp made in every way you can imagine, crawfish, baked crab, baked salmon, sushi, and much more. When we visited on a weekend, they also had crab legs though the price was a few dollars more. There is a big enough selection that we can stuff ourselves even if we avoid most of the«Americanized» Chinese dishes. Because many people eat here, the food is usually warm(sometimes steaming hot!) and freshly made. The hot and sour soup was on par with what I’ve had at traditional Chinese restaurants. The sashimi pieces are thin and not always of the highest quality, but the selection of rolls is extensive. To end our meals, we usually indulge in our guilty pleasures of fried donuts and chocolate covered marshmallows and strawberries. And some watermelon and honeydew as well to feel better about ourselves. Service can be hit or miss, but overall the servers are good about getting drinks refilled and taking away finished plates promptly. Overall, it’s a great value for all the items you can get, and you’re likely to leave with a full belly.

I have visited King Buffet about 5 times in the past 12 months. This place is always busy, filled with happy, smiling, hungry people. The staff is courteous and we get seated quickly, as we are just 3 in our group. The food is what I enjoy eating: beef, seafood, chicken, stir fry, salads, crunchy fried delights, desserts of cakes, ice cream and chocolate fondue. Their price is very inexpensive for all I can eat. I am not wasteful and I eat whatever I put on my plate. I eat here because I need salt. I never eat the rice or noodles. I come here for protein and vegetables. I give them five stars because my table is always clean, my food is fresh and they offer a great variety of flavors, the place is monitored well for quality, peacefulness and customer satisfaction, my wait time is short, and the restrooms are always clean. I will continue enjoying this wonderful buffet for a long time.

We Love King Buffet! We have been coming here for over a year. The food and staff are wonderful. They even accommodate our disabled son and will reserve a booth by a window for us so he can look out the window during dinner. The manager knows us by name and makes us feel like family. The food is always fresh and fully stocked. We LOVE the crab legs and my new favorite is the Salt and Pepper Shrimp… YUMMY! The sushi is always fully stocked and so are the items for the Mongolian Grill. There are only a few items I don’t care for but out of 200+ items that’s not bad. The price is only $ 12 on the weekends. You can not go to any other type restaurant and get all you can eat crab, shrimp, sushi, and steak for that price. If you are a fan of «All You Can Eat» buffets then this one will not disappoint!

Can I just say I have a soft spot for chinese buffets? I mean, who wouldn’t, you can eat basically anything you want and like a ton of it. And convince yourself you’ll never get fat. I was suckered into going here after a long night at a country concert about beer(ok, I think that’s what it was about, the songs seemed to be all about that), and I saw a commercial on late night television. I was vulnerable — I was starving, feeling deprived of decent meaningful music, and a very drunk boyfriend. I looked up on Unilocal about this place, and proceeded to decide that it’d be a great idea for the next day. We went, and I was NERVOUS. I thought«oh Lord, please don’t give me food poisoning». I wanted to check out so many other sites in San Antonio, and low and behold… The wonders of King Buffet — a huge building, standing on its own(and not in a giant strip mall). I was so excited! Its super fancy entrance makes you feel like you made the right decision. I tried to be smart about trying different items — for the«1st course», I went with a small selection of each sushi available, and was NOTDISAPPOINTED. It was so good!(I mean, granted, its buffet sushi, but it was still very good!). There was even seaweed salad, which is amazing. 2nd course, I went with a crab rangoon, fried rice, lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, and I think a green baked mussel. I’m not positive. Crab rangoon — I had about one per course after this because they were delicious. I mean, really delicious, and huge. I was ecstatic! Fried rice — eh. But its ok for when you need to eat something with orange chicken or sweet and sour chicken. Sweet and sour chicken — decent choice. Not my favorite, but not bad. Pretty standard. Baked Mussel — what do they put in these things? Crack? I couldn’t stop eating them! Lo mein — surprisingly tasty! Orange chicken — I don’t know who here thinks their chinese food isn’t good because this was the tastiest stuff I had ever had. 3rd, 4th, 5th and I don’t know what other courses I had, but I did continue on trying the rest of the foods. Eventually I settled for steamed clams(or as Rhode Islanders call them, quahogs or littlenecks), green baked mussels, crawfish, shrimp, fried rice, and of course, crab rangoons. I did try something called dragon roll. No idea what it was(not the sushi kind), but it was like an egg roll. Crawfish — pretty standard, but a bit overcooked. No butter served so you kind of have to make due. No seasoning either so don’t expect it to be like a crawfish boil. Shrimp — there was pepper shrimp, and yeah you have to take off the shell, but it was pretty good! steamed clams — Steamed with garlic and something else. I had maybe 100 of these, I don’t know. and no food poisoning, YAY! Dragon roll — like an egg roll with zero description of what it contained. Still pretty decent though. Fried dumplings — pretty standard. Tried figuring out where the dipping sauce was but couldn’t find it. __________________________ I will say, I enjoyed myself thoroughly, however: 1) It was Sunday, so we had to deal with a huge crowd, which I promptly ignored, but my boyfriend was grossed out by fat people(which is weird for a foodie boyfriend, but he might have just been hungover. His loss.) 2) Saw the chocolate fountain. Too many kids around it though, so I avoided it like the plague. 3) We went during a busy time, which I think might account for a lot of decent food. I have noticed in chinese(and japanese) restaurants that if its a slow day, you’ll get a lot of leftovers and it’s just a sad experience. 4) I wouldn’t touch their pizza with a 10ft pole. 5) Boyfriend had mongolian stir fry, which he said was good but a bit overcooked. 6) No description of each sushi roll. I had to use my magical sushi psychic skills to see which item was which. Bright side? There is a giant container of spicy mayo. You can drown any bad flavors if you had to. _________________________ Overall, I enjoyed myself here. We put this as a «must go» next time we are in the San Antonio area. Thanks, King Buffet, for keeping me well fed and chubby. I much appreciate it.(also I needed the energy for touring each of the missions).

I’m not an avid Chinese buffet-goer these days, but I know fresh, quality food when I come across it. And King Buffet ranks significantly higher than other Chinese buffets not only on the city’s Northwest Side, but throughout San Antonio. I know this simply because I used to frequent any kind of buffet when I was 50 pounds heavier. Needless to say, I’m now able to list general pros & cons of each… and King easily outshines every other. Food taste and quality: 3 out of 5. King’s soups are surprisingly savory with ingredients and flavor profiles more substantial than other buffets. Rice and noodle offerings are unextraordinary; however, none are at all tasteless/bad. The sushi bar is decent — clean and appropriate setup, nice variety — yet lacking in anything particularly notable. Similarly decent is King’s stir fry station. As for the overall buffet, it seems to be stocked slightly more with chicken dishes than other meats. Regardless, all meat dishes are served hot, attended to constantly, and their trays changed out very frequently. Seafood selections are abundant in comparison to other buffets in the area. Salads, deli fixings, and desserts are all expectedly typical on the other hand. Atmosphere: 4.25 out of 5. The building itself used to be a bustling Luby’s, and yet nothing exteriorly/interiorly indicates so; King’s complete remodeling of the property rendered a restaurant that is spacious and modern without the tackiness/gaudiness of, say, a Chinese mega buffet in Vegas. Peak hours can get crazy, and although foot traffic is the sole reason for a somewhat disheveled dining area, King’s staff performs relatively well at maintaining a clean and appealing environment. Rating specifics(i.e. 1 – 5, low-high)… — Overall recommendation = 3.5 — Food quality = 3 — Food variety = 4.25 — Price = 3.75 — Atmosphere = 4.25 — General service = 3.5 — Waitstaff = 3 — Location = 3

So I gave this place a second try because a family member really wanted Chinese buffet. It was super busy on a Saturday night. We had to wait a few minutes for a table(for 4). The lines to the buffet were consistently going! Food: I don’t stray too much from my review before. The sushi makes me nervous because of the warmness of the temperature, but I grabbed a few pieces to try it. It more on the lower side of average(so that was better). Soup was good. Skipped the salad bar. Calamari was better. Still a little too salty, but not mushy clumps of octopus & breading! Overall, the food was better but still only average. Nothing amazing that stood out. Crab legs were swooped up very quickly. They also do to-go boxes by weight. But crab legs are a separate by weight price. Service: Great service, very friendly. Environment: With so many people, this restaurant felt a lot dirtier than when I initially tried it. Food on the floor. But the buffet line itself seemed fairly well-kept but still a little messy. It’d be great if they could hire more staff to maintain the floor better just because of the huge amount of foot traffic. Overall: I could come back again if I’m really, really craving Chinese buffet, but don’t come in with the expectations of anything being amazing. The most disappointing thing for me(because last time the restaurant was super clean): I wish the restaurant floor was better maintained(kept clean) because of how busy it is. It just icks me out.

My bf and I went there for the first time yesterday. He’s a huge sea food fan and wouldn’t know if any of the other food was good or not because he didn’t try any. There is a large variety to try. I tried a majority of it and couldn’t find anything that stood out for me. The sweet and sour chicken was ok and had white meat. The crab rangoon was old and cold. The pork dumpling was cold and so was the majority of the other food. I won’t be going back at all. Even the watermelon was bitter tasting. Also to many crying kids! The service isn’t that great either. I had to remove our own plates and flag down our food server for more tea.

Look it’s a Chinese buffet. No crab legs on dinner buffet. $ 11 not including drink. Everything was well stocked. Clean. Service was good too. Nothing really to report. Just your average buffet.

Yeah!!! Buffet! I love it when i walk into a buffet and it’s PACKED. Every. Time. Probably a biased opinion: seeing a number of asian families at buffet is always a trustworthy sign something good going on. Crab legs on Fridays and Saturdays, sweet short ribs, and fried chicken in sweet/sour sauce… The beEEEEeeeEeeSt. Our waiter this last time i went was exceptional. He left the pitcher of iced tea that my dad drinks in like air. Thanks!

This is one the better«Chinese» buffets I’ve been to. The selection is excellent, and all the food is pretty good. They have a «seafood delight» that I just couldn’t get enough of. It’s basically shrimp with a chili garlic glaze, but it’s very nice. They offer a Mongolian stir-fry and decent sushi as well as a wide variety of Asian dishes. The gyoza/mandu dumplings were a standout for me. Seafood lovers will appreciate the wide assortment that includes crab legs, shrimp and mussels. The dessert and salad selections are probably the largest I’ve seen at any buffet of this type. And if American comfort food is more your speed, you’ll like the steak, potatoes, pizza and a surprisingly good broccoli casserole. Oh, and they offer a 10% military discount, making a good deal even better. So next time you feel like eating to the point of hating yourself, give King Buffet a try!
