Unfortunately Kita’s closed some time ago. I’d love to know where he ended up going. Sad day for sushi in San Antonio.

Either this place likes to decorate with«For Lease» and«For Rent» signs in the window or it is now closed. I believe it is the latter but just can’t seem to find the button to report it as closed. Please confirm if you have visited recently and have found it out of business as well.

I’m sad to say that it appears as of 10/31/2011, Kita is no longer providing delicious sushi at affordable prices. The signage looks to be cleaned up from the door, and there’s for rent signs hung. My wife and I are sad. :(

Kita’s is excellent! The service is attentive, the sushi is beautifully done and nicely presented, and the prices are more than reasonable. My husband and I each had lunch consisting of salad, miso soup, sushi roll, and cute carved orange slices for dessert. Total tab? $ 15. This is definitely a place we will return to often.

Let me preface this review by saying that I know sushi. I lived in Japan(Tokyo for four years, Okinawa for three years) and I am in love with most everything Japanese, including the culture and the food. Kita’s Sushi serves up the most reasonably priced and delicious sushi in town. Can you get more delicious sushi in San Antonio? Sure, but you will pay out the nose for it. You will also have to deal with the pretentiousness of typical overpriced American sushi restaurants, and boy do I hate pretentiousness when it comes to sushi dining. You may ask, «what makes Kita’s sushi so unpretentious?» How about the dude ties his curtains back with garbage ties? I will leave it at that. Now, on to the dining experience. Kita-san is a one-man show. He waits on you, makes your sushi, and rings up your bill. He is personable, but not too much, likely because he is so busy doing everything. Don’t take it the wrong way if he doesn’t schmooze you like the sushi chefs at the pretentious sushi bars. If you are looking for nigiri sushi or sashimi, do not go here. Rolls are the name of the game and they are delicious. My favorites so far have been the baked lobster roll and the volcano roll, although I have not had a bad roll yet and I have eaten most of them. A mayo-based spring lettuce salad with imitation crab and miso soup are complimentary. You can also get a side of gyoza(frozen, store bought) or edamame, if you wish. A nice touch(and very Japanese) is to serve a refreshing piece of melon(for me, it was watermelon) or citrusy fruit after the meal. Despite all these positive attributes, it is the price that keeps me going back. These sushi prices are honest, not inflated based on some pretentious(there’s that word again) 80’s «decade of excess» flashback. Not only that, but sushi«happy hour» runs from 2 to 6 p.m. The prices are so low that even Kita-san himself would not allow me to take pictures of the menu. The moral of this review is that you get what you pay for, and more, at Kita’s Sushi.

Simply put the taste and quality were not good. I had a very pink tuna nigiri, which is a sign that the fish was frozen. The spicy tun and salmon skin roll were below average.

My boyfriend and I just moved to San Antonio from Austin back in January, and we both love sushi. This is the first place we have found in San Antonio that serves great sushi! We ordered a dragon roll, a spicy tuna roll, and 2 pieces of salmon sashimi, and our bill was only $ 20! The prices are cheap, the food is amazing, and Kita, the owner/waiter/chef is such a nice guy! We will definitely be coming back every week!

The restaurant setting and location may not be as aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, but the food was great and the service was wonderful. It is indeed a one-man show, but he did a great job in serving us efficiently. The menu is simple, but when it comes to good food… a few great selection is more than enough. Will definitely go back.

Walk in and sit down, immediately served salad and miso and water. Had the gyoza that was perfectly crispy fried. Ninja roll, and red sox roll were superb(I mean superb!!!), And a slice of watermelon for complementary desert. Grand total was 16.06 before tip during happy hour that gets 10% off. Small place, friendly owner/chef/waiter/busboy. Had friendly conversation with Kita. I will be back. Also, save money on it being BYOB due to Kita having no liquor license.

EXCELLENT place… your sushi dish includes salad, soup, and dessert. !!! prices range from $ 5-$ 12 bucks. first dessert was watermelon, second time was cold orange slices and carved into a teddy bear! fresh food clean place. Japanese chef is also your waiter, very friendly. Made a very good impression. Corner of Jackson Keller and Blanco. In the shopping center across from Nimtz Middle School. Not a great location on the outside but food is worth it. HAPPYHOURFROM2−6PM. open mon thru sat 11−9pm. must go today!!!

Off the… HOOOOOOK!!! Cheap sushi, great sushi, great service – free soup and salad and petite desert, bonus! The spicy tuna roll was delicious, the snow crab and tuna roll was delicious, the goyza was delicious, the salad and miso was delicious. Friends ordered the Las Vegas and loved it as well as the cucumber salad. The iced tea was interesting. Watermelon was served during this visit as a complimentary desert. Roll presentation was surprising. Place is rinky dink but totally worth every bite.

It’s a one man show! The owner is your chef, waiter, cashier, & busboy. I must say I love sushi. This place is great quality and excellent service. The fish isn’t over powering like some places because he uses fresh & good quality fish. My husband loves the cooked stuff but he loved the raw stuff from this place. It hasn’t been there that long but I will be here often since it is only a few blocks away. Anyone who is willing to try a great sushi place in town for a great price should try this place! Seriously 6 pieces of gyoza for app. At $ 3 something! Plus with your order comes with miso soup and crab salad which I know is a salad but it was a damn good salad. After your meal he gives u sliced watermelon(which I love with a little sprinkle of salt on) all in all app, 3 rolls, and drinks $ 30 not including tip. And tip him good cause he seriously waits on you like wow! For sure the husband & I will be regulars. Just to add he has happy hour 2 – 6 pm he takes 10% off although his sushi is at a great price already. My favorite roll is the spider roll at only $ 7.50 my husband loves his ninja roll and that’s $ 7.50 as well. Try the super rainbow roll if you up for something more on the raw side. All I wanna say is now I crave this sushi place.
