I’m writing this as I wait for my card to be run. «Wait» is a word you should be prepared to write in your review as well. The food was fair, but the slow service is excruciating. It is a busy Friday, to be sure, but this may be the worst service I’ve ever received. Our waiter was pleasant enough, but we saw him only occasionally with lots of apologizing. My meal was fair, but my friends at the table found theirs to be exceptional. Had this been the best meal I’ve ever had, I might consider returning, but as it stands, I will never come back. Two hours with probably six visits from the waiter.

The food was fantastic — a little buttery but excellent. Unfortunately– The service was appalling!!! The«music» was a sweet old man playing hideous music on a keyboard with a faux accordion sound. Everything took 3 – 4 requests to get ANYTHING! Water, sodas, bread, the CHECK! Once we requested the check for the fourth time — we had to wait and wait and wait and wait. It took two hours to do a 30 minute meal. We also ordered a bottle of wine and it took 30 minutes before they told us they didn’t have it. If you have nothing but time to waste and you don’t mind hideous service and atrocious«music» by all means — enjoy the food. Expect a 45 minute wait after requesting the check.

Food was good but not worth the horrible service. The wait to get in wasn’t too bad for a Friday night. The chicken was great and we also had the beef medallions, very yummy. But, that was as good as it got. We ordered and then anything else we wanted took asking at least 3 times. At first, we chalked it up to the waiter being really busy but then the service kept getting worse. Beside the service being horrible, the live music was even worse. They have a guy playing a keyboard that sounded like it was from 1977. And, the building is very old and so is the furniture(the seats and tables really need to be replaced). The seats are covered with a cloth because they are torn and covered with duct tape(see picture). Finally, when we wanted to get the check, it took 30 minutes! When we got the ticket, it took another 15 for the girl to run the card. This would be a 1 star review except I thought the food was good. We had horrible service and I will never go there again and you shouldn’t bother.

Great Italian food in Southtown. Went on a slow Monday night, service was personable and attentive. No appetizer needed with the delicious and fresh house made bread and dipping sauce. Spaghetti Carbonara was creamy and spiced perfectly. Pizza was crispy and delicious– we had the Lady Fantasia with ricotta cheese and spinach. Dessert was salted caramel cheesecake.

This had been our go-to restaurant before the Rock n Roll marathon. After my wife got food poisoning from her meal there the night before, we stopped going. We were going to run together, but she spent the night sick, leaving the bed only to go to the bathroom. Awful experience.

I want to start this review off by saying I’m not trying to bash this establishment or review the food. My wife and I saw this place while looking for something to eat, it looked nice from the outside and very old school Italian on the inside. The problems arrive when we’ve been sitting for 10 minutes and never had someone come by to take our order, I’ll let it slide to a certain extent but it was beginning to be mildly irritating. The final nail in the coffin was my wife discovering a very large cockroach on the wall next to her. At this point we decided to leave, wish I could have tried to food in some ways but the cockroach was off putting, between that and the lack of service I can only rate la focaccia a 2. I felt a very distinct kitchen nightmares vibe, like Gordon Ramsey should be kicking the door down at any moment.

This was my first time here. I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It was Sunday and they were easily able to accommodate party of 6. The bread is addictive especially since I asked for Alfredo dipping sauce. I recommend spinach chicken pizza and calamari.

La Focaccia, how do I love you? Let me count the ways. 1. complimentary focaccia bread, 2. great service, 3. spicy marinara sauce, 4. great pasta, 5. reasonable prices. La Focaccia was my boyfriend’s idea for my birthday dinner. We had driven by so many times on our way towards South Alamo. I figured we had never stopped because the food was mediocre. Boy, was I wrong! So wrong in fact that I ate here twice in a little over a week. Both times, the service was attentive, courteous, and personable(I mean, who doesn’t love discussing the Spurs with their server?!). My first visit, I ordered the fettuccine alfredo and my boyfriend had the chicken parmigiana. Both dishes came out beautifully. The fettuccine was not greasy and the alfredo was light and flavorful. I wasn’t able to eat the entire dish, but it heated up beautifully the next day for lunch. My boyfriend’s chicken parmigiana was another beast altogether! It barely fit on the plate and his accompanying pasta was topped with one of the tastiest marinara sauces I’ve had the pleasure of putting in my mouth(TWSS??) Less than a week later, we went back to make sure we didn’t experience a fluke. This time, I had the Garden of Eve pizza and my boyfriend had the Chicken Florentine(which was specially made off the menu). The pizza was fresh and had amazing flavors. The artichoke hearts and pine nuts were a subtle, but welcome addition to the pizza. It reheated beautifully the next day as well. My boyfriend’s florentine was lemony and smooth. I had never really had Chicken Florentine and I was impressed with the flavors. Both of our visits were accented by impeccable and attentive service. While I’ve had my fair share of italian meals in San Antonio, I’m not sure I’ve had such a well-rounded experience. After re-reading this review, I feel as though I have to tell you that I’m being paid in their spicy marinara sauce for this review(I am totally kidding! the food is just that good!) TL;DR: great food, great service, fair pricing, and amazing marinara sauce!

My wife and I came to San Antonio for the weekend and stayed at a VRBO property. The home came with a menu from La Focaccia. We were planning on going down to the river walk but pouring down rain changed our minds and we decided to order out. I went to pick up the food and found a very traditional Italian restaurant. I enjoy this much more than the chain restaurants. The owner greeted me and made me feel right at home. I wish we could have gotten the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere instead of ordering out. We shared a spinach salad which was the best either one of had ever eaten. My wife got the Chicken La Focaccia which was incredible as well. I wanted to eat light so I ordered a pizza and was only able to eat half. I got my wife a piece of chocolate cake that was home made and it definitely topped off the meal! They did not have Cannoli’s this evening but I look forward to going back to try one. If they are anything like the rest of the meal they will be over the top! I appreciate the great service and wonderful food!

What a gem. I was treated like a long lost relative. I am from New Orleans the hostess had a very happy honeymoon there in 1974 and another staff member was from the Irish channel just blocks away from my home. Even another diner came over and tried speaking French to me well he was successful I wasn’t. And Paco the server was sweet and charming the food was outstanding. I had the Rosemary snapper served with fresh vege medley. Totally delightful. The namesake focaccia served comp with very yummy olive oil. Hope to return soon

Great date night! Treated very well by the attentive staff. Salad bar, Garden of Eve pizza, desserts, and wine were all very good. Mr. Francois de Berenx the piano man was a lovely touch to an already friendly environment. We will be back!

Nice little Italian gem near the Riverwalk. Service was great. Our drinks and order were prompt. We had the Oyster Rockefeller, Caesar’s Salad, and the Chicken Romana. The oysters were the star of the meal. Excellent flavor and perfectly cooked. The chicken Romana was solid. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are satisfactory. Will definitely try some other dishes next time.

Took my niece Sandra for her birthday. We had a good time. They brought her a slice of complimentary cake with a candle and sang happy birthday!

This is an updated review, as I have been here 3 times now, each time, just as good as the last! I would eat here more often, but it is more than a hour away. Everything about our meal was outstanding! From the awesome complementary bread & herb olive oil, to the caesar salad, wine, service, atmosphere, and last but not least, the entrees, and dessert! Our waiter, Raymond, was friendly, responsive, patient, and just awesome! They were busy, but not crowded, so everything flowed at whatever pace we wanted. As in previous visits, I could tell that the chef takes pride in their work, and the end results were superb. The owner is hands on, and makes sure every aspect of your visit is spot on! Is this the best Italian food in SA? Maybe, maybe not. I enjoy it! Does it have the best personal service? Perhaps! I think so. I still stand by my original statement, that this is, by far the best overall Italian experience I have had in central TX. This establishment, is under-rated!

La focaccia is a great little Italian restaurant in a quaint part of downtown San Antonio known as King William. We have been here many times and anything on the menu is good. Good service and friendly staff. Their bread and their dipping sauce is fabulous.

The server was very nice and knowledgable about the menu and beer choices. I had the Pizza it was very good. This place is a little noisy, but then their was a table with a few unruly kids very loud. All in all good place for Italian.
