45 minutes for delivery is a little ridiculous. The egg roll was so salty that I couldn’t even stand a second bite. Even a simple dish like General Tso Chicken was bland and uninteresting. My wife liked the steamed dumplings but I thought they were subpar once you’ve had the real thing. Definitely not worth the money or time spent.

They sent me spoiled food. I ordered a Gen Tso chicken, and beef & broccoli on a combo dinner plate. My Gen Tso chicken tasted, and looked, a bit off, but then a bite into broccoli that came with my beef & broccoli alerted me to the fact that indeed I had been delivered rotten food.(Yes, my sense of smell sucks. Yes, I know veggies better than I know meat.) I called Lee’s Garden very upset, but calm. The usual man who answers the phone immediately offered to replace my meal with a freshly cooked order, to be delivered as soon as the driver could return. The man sounded disturbed, saying those two dishes are among their most popular, so they shouldn’t have sent out any spoiled food. He promised me that he’d watch the cooks make me a new container. I ate half of the fried rice while I waited, because I was legit tummy ache, hadn’t eaten all day, starving, and that portion of the plate seemed fresh. It was SA style, super Americanized fried rice. I’d give their usual fare three stars, which is amazing for San Antonio, but I spent most of my life in the Northeast, where freshly imported Hong Kong cooks got down on a wok like whoa. SA Chinese food makes me cry, and then I use my tears as seasoning, because Buddha knows it needs some. My replacement meal was indeed fresh, and delicious for what it was, but this should never have occurred. I waited a long time for the initial delivery of waste, so having to wait again for edible food was ridiculous. Nope.

I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice… The sweet-and-sour was chewy and the sauce had no flavor. The fried rice had no traditional egg and veggie in it and It was hard. If your craving good Chinese food, this is not the place for you.

No complaints, love the food and love that they are open a little later than other restaurants. I usually keep it simple with beef and broccoli but they’ve never done me wrong

The service was horrible. They brought out cold wontons with no sweet & sour. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken. The pieces were rock hard. Chicken inside dried out. My husband got the chicken & broccoli which was brought out 5 minutes after my plate. The waitress didn’t say it was going to be a few more minutes so we just sat there until she came bk from the back. When we asked her about the plate, she replied with yes I know. My spoon was dirty. My husband said his food has a funny after taste to it. We basically picked at out food & left almost the whole plate there. placed seemed run down. Which I don’t really care about, I’m down with hole in the wall places. But this time the place was a good indication of what the food and service would be like. Which was pretty surprising to me, because when we walked in there were a lot of to go plates on counter. I would not go back. The menu prices that are picture on the review are wrong for lunch specials. You’re looking at 6.30 for the chicken plates and plates with beef were like 6.55.

I’m new to this place. I normally order Chinese for delivery from another place but they were closed. I ordered pepper steak and sweat and sour chicken. My first impression was a dud. Rice was chewy and smelled like it was left open in back of a smelly kitchen. No kidding! I was hungry so I ate about 3 bites. I took a bite from my wife’s pepper steak and it was just to salty, but was doable… Eatable. My chicken was old and chewy. Not fresh at all. I got extra cheese buffs and they were old to. Chewy and tuff not crunchy. But the egg rolls were fresh and tasty., Never will I order from this place again. I paid over $ 40.00. A big loss.

I got a pick up order for their lunch menu and they were quick and efficient! Great place to go for a quick bite to eat Pros — offer lunch($ 6.50−8.50) and dinner specials(ranges from $ 8.50−11.50) — offer white or fried rice — portions are big! I ate my meal for lunch and dinner — called in and the order was ready within 10 minutes for pick up — cashier was nice and friendly(greeted me when I came in and left) Cons — food quality is not the tastiest, but that’s expected given the price range here — fried rice was a bit hard for my liking — the hunan spicy dish wasn’t as spicy as I wanted it to be If you’re looking for a place that’s cheap, quick and will make you full, this is the place! If you’re looking for quality authentic Chinese food, you’ll be disappointed.

Never received order. When we placed we were told it was going to take an hour and a half. One hour and forty minutes later I called again and the said it would be about another 10 – 15 minutes. No thank you.

The therapists where I go say they love this place, but my delivery order was very disappointing the other day. I did a hot&sour, pupu platter, and beef and broccoli with fried rice. The hot&sour was bland with no bite to it, the eggrolls were this tough unfresh/oversteamed chewy, the crab rangoons were way overcooked. Beef and broc was okay, and the ribs and the skewers in the pupu platter were excellent. I may give this one more try but at this point would not recommend.

As you can see, if you look at my previous reviews, my husband and I used to love this place… Not any more. Something has happened within the last year. New cook? Not sure. But it’s definitely gone down the drain. Cheese rangoon and the crispy noodles that come with the soup are consistently either pale/underdone and in the case of the rangoon rubbery and chewy, or stale in the case of the noodles. The egg drop soup is consistently over salted to the point of having no other flavor. The last time we got the sesame beef it was cooked to within an inch of its life, tough as shoe leather, and tasted burnt. My soup was both cold AND over salted. Both were inedible. The owner offered me a free soup to make up for it rather than compensating us for an inedible meal. We’re so over this place now.

My husband and I eat here a few times a month. It’s close by, and a great price for all the food you get. I wont say its the best chinese food, but it’s definitely good. The other places in the neighborhood are so so, and Mencius is expensive and not always worth it. We get the General Taos Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken and they are both really good. I prefer the cheese rangoon, and while they don’t always look pretty, they are good and look homemade. Delivery always takes about 45 min to an hour, so don’t be shocked. I think they only have one delivery guy, but he is really nice. We usually don’t mind waiting, we’re used to ordering early because we know the wait time.

Egg rolls and crab rangoon were very stale. I should have know better, especially when the egg rolls are at my table in less than 1 minutes after ordering. I ordered the beef and broccoli and orange chicken double combo. Beef has a rubbery texture and non beef like taste. Orange chicken flavor not so good. The freshest item out of my entire meal was the broccoli. So out of everything that was served I ate all my broccoli with rice. I will not be coming back to this place. They would have gotten one star if they would have managed to botch the egg drop soup. I would recommend you drive an extra 5 to 10 minutes to Golden Wok for fresh food even though it is a little pricey. At least then you would get your money’s worth

The absolute worst chinese I’ve ever had! I had the mongolian beef … the beef was rubbery and the flavor tasted like it came out of a generic jar of sauce and it certainly was not mongolian flavor. The fried rice… I’m at a loss for words. Also the crab cheese rangoon??? What was that jumbled mess deep fried to an unedible crunch? I’ve had a friend try it and they were also thoroughly disgusted as well. It’s your money just remember you’ve been warned.

I’ve eaten in the restaurant and had delivery to my home many times overt the last 2 years and I’ve enjoyed the ample portions, courteous staff, delivery time was exactly what they said within 5 minutes and usually 30 minutes or less. I usually am ordering for multiple people so I have 3 or more dishes to choose from(which more variety of food ads to wait time as they have to make it fresh for me). The taste of the food is just good, as you might expect from any decent restaurant. I don’t know what the problem is with people, if they have one bad experience it ruins their«life» and have to bash(libel) a business and never give them a second chance(which I suggest). Suffice it to say, this is a great little gem in the medical center to be enjoyed, which I do and I hope you will too. PS: And yes they have fortune cookies!

I try not to be a hater on food, but their lo mein is so greasy and awful. I judge people on their lo mein. That is a staple. Having said that, it’s cheap, fast and about a block away from me, so I might hit that again.

Frequently, people add a review just to slam a place. Not often enough is the opposite. I cannot possibly fathom what problems people could have with Lee’s Garden. I have been there several times, and each, at varying times between lunch and late dinner, I have been extremely impressed by great, expedient service and delicious cuisine. Chicken dishes could stand to be served a little hotter, but otherwise, it’s great. Fantastic sized portions that almost always result in leftovers for later are a bonus. Great prices, even for dinner, are quite evident. If you’re near south of the Medical Center, give this a try.
